Few performer’s deaths have affected me in the way Prince’s death did; I think it’s because he was a true musical genius, and those are few and far between. I hope you’ve found serenity, Prince. You are, and always will be, greatly missed. 😢

I've been a Prince fan and collector for over 32 years, I used to co run a website dedicated to him and I've thought about this many times... So I just wanted to say that for me personally, 0(+> (TAFKAP) wins... Prince was awesome don't get me wrong, I love Prince (Pre and post name change) but 0(+> was such a badass, he swaggered and swore and played some of my all time favourite songs like "Days Of Wild", "Hide The Bone" and "Ripopgodazippa"... Yeah for me he just edged it. :D

Here is the deal, many great artists master their instruments and or voices, but with Prince, he was the master of sound, and to him everything from his voice, what he was playing, the crowd, the set even his dance moves, clothing and look was part of of the effect to the sounds that he created. One gets the impression that when he did play an instrument he got exactly the sound he wanted, and if he couldn't get that sound, he simply moved on to another that gave him precisely the sound he wanted to make. I think he looked at the band and crowd as one big instrument that he played, just to get that sound he wanted. Understanding this is understanding the true genius of Prince.

Funny that we would have a discussion about “ it’s all and only Prince”.... ok that’s true.... up to the part where it’s only prince.... as he absolutely did not write or arrange the horns.... he may certainly have had “ the creative input and control”... and he may have done the final tweak ... but he did not write the horn parts..... how dare I say that?..... because I know the guy who DID write Prince’s horn parts.... period
@ruffnreadybeatz7349
@ruffnreadybeatz7349 2 года назад
@@SOLDbyYOU that may very well be true but who could argue at the man's true genuine musical prowess. He had whole songs that he DID play every instrument on so the fact that he did not write certain parts should not take away from the real talent he was and possessed. Let just give credit where credit is due and leave at that. This man Is genius when it came to this art form we all so love and I and so many other give it up to him hands down. I saw a documentary about him. It was fascinating that he could play many instruments well. I think it might have been a true " honour" for the musicians who had the opportunity to play with him. They practiced for many, many hours. Prince worked very hard all the time he was involved in a new project. That what makes him unique. His ability to play,sing,dance and write songs. He was so creative. Unfortunately I could never go to any of his shows, but everytime I watch a whole show or even a single video, I notice something new. Some detail. I do miss him. He is irreplaceable. The most complete artist of all times.

I watch a video when he was practicing with the band. He was at a piano. He play different chords in different keys. He would announce to them the key F, F major, F minor, C, E and just play the chord. He didn’t have any sheets in front of him. He just knew them. The band would shift with him.

Guitar is just one of several instruments he knew to play. One would usually not introduce him as Prince the guitarist, but rathet Prince the artist or just Prince. His last tour was a piano tour, he finally got back to the roots, his father was also pianist... He composed most songs on piano, also Purple Rain on piano first! I saw Prince live for his Gold tour and he had us all under his spell from the moment he came out on the stage on a moving floor. His guitar sound was so big, so full and it just blew me away. Any one who questions his ability on guitar are insane!! Prince never got the credit he deserved - maybe because he didn't play Rock all the time, maybe because some songs weren't particularly guitar based, maybe because he was such a talented musician and played multiple instruments that his talent as guitarist was overlooked.... Having also seen a G3 concert with Vai and Satch, as well as numerous Rock concerts, I can honestly say that Prince was up there with the best... Truly a great, perhaps one of the best musicians and greatest song writer we have ever seen and such a great loss too... RIP Prince 1958-2016

Prince starting : "You know... There was never any reason to Argue... " For all you can not know, There is a story behind this performance and the complete performance IN this Spanish TV show. There is a reason for his mood here. Prince was at war with Warner, and this program was conducted and hosted by a Warner hired , a singer call Miguel Bose who thought of himself by the way, he was the best in word 😂. The tv show have planned a Prince performance 2 songs and an interview with Prince by Miguel Bose. Prince arrived at the site early to record the program and as always, asked to conduct a 10-minute soundcheck with his musicians. The answer was NO without any reason, surely because of the ego of the host of the show and the Warner war.... What did PRINCE do? After several refusals by the program denying him his logical sound check, he thought about leaving and not recording anything. But it made go so much better. Instead Prince went into his dressing room.... and after a while that the host had him angry for nothing ... The TV show realized that better change mind OR not tv show at all .... Prince was finally able to do his sound check. His reaction? Not give any interviews, not even meet the host of the show and instead give away a big long LIVE performance (35 min ) because of his immense respect for the audience that was there, and all the viewers who would be watching the show on television who were not at fault for anything. Motherless Child was NOT programmed. He just decided to play it. He was hurt by everything that had happened and didn't understand Why. This is why you are watching THIS jewel... Love your reaction and comments. Now you know the context and the real life behind all his performance in this show... And also you have the clue for his mood and his words in the beginnig... Prince was an absolute genius musician and better human being,That song is how he felt again, belittled and mistreated . Just Love this musical jewel, just Real him exposing and giving how he is feeling Through his gift of music. I was working there.

He arranged it, had his band so rehearse it that they could flip on a dime to the vision of sound he had in that creative brain. He had that charisma that put him up with the best band front person but MORE he knew each instrument. It's one of my favorite videos. Prince was great. Unique. Perfect. His band is excellent. All the musicians are great and Prince interacts with them a the time. They play in total harmony.

Prince most certainly was a profound multi-talented artist that knew what he wanted and worked toward achieving the perfect outcome. I like his guitar! Fil, Thank you for all of the information, breakdown and analysis, you say it with such care.

Prince remains by far the best gig I've ever been to. We were miles back from the stage at the O2 in London, and yet at times I could have sworn he was playing just for me. The fun and joy he found in being on stage was just infectious. For a long time after he died it was too painful to listen to his music, but now I'm just glad I'm lucky enough to have shared the planet with a great artist. RIP Prince.

Although Prince is my first musical crush since the 80s, I only discovered this performance some years ago. Pure bliss! I come back to this every now and then and am always blown away. Thank you for your comments Wings, you are so right to the point. A musical genius, not only in control of himself but every member of his band. And he really had the gift to get the best out of everyone with him on stage or studio.

A longtime friend plays with a local band "Janitor Bob And The Armchair Cowboys" (their "Happy Song" is still in the rotation of many radio stations). They went to Paisley Park to explore possibly recording there, and while they checked things out, a voice came over the paging system and said, "Code Pearl". Immediately almost everyone in the place took down all existing colored decor and changed it to "pearl" colored. Evidently an assistant sensed his mood and called ahead. When he arrived he was very shy and polite, and said "Hi, guys" as they moved out of the way to let him go by. They never actually recorded there because of the cost, but that's a memory forever.

I saw Prince twice in one night, at his stadium concert then at his after hours gig. He was incredible in both. What you wrote is why I made sure to see Barry Manilow when he performed near me a couple of years ago. Barry is 80 and after missing out on seeing other great performers, I knew I'd better go to his concert. If Paul McCartney tours the UK, I will do my best to go see him too.

Prince is one of those rare artists whose talent was just off the charts. The guy could play in many genres invoking a wide array of feels. He was a great song writer, instrumentalist, and composer / arranger. Not many like him. I think of Zappa when I describe Prince here, even though Zappa was a more advanced composer, (Zappa, like Price, conducted the audience, albeit in a more orchestrated fashion), but he was like Prince in that he played while conducting the band, a rare talent indeed.

So glad you tackled this performance. I discovered it shortly after Prince died, and was struck by all the observations you make. Prince was genius on so many levels (including or especially keyboard), as a performer, arranger, singer. And give credit to the band for being completely locked in to the groove, but still paying close attention to Prince's commands . Of course, you didn't get to play with Prince unless you could follow his orders. Vegas! Vegas!

It took me a while to get into Prince. Through the years. I really began to appreciate him and his tallents. I do believe. Prince to be the last. Of the Rock Era musicians. Somebody who understands and knows music intimately. I would put him on par. With the likes of Paul McCartney and Jeff Lynn. Gon way too young. Rock on.

This stripped down no fancy lights and such,is one of my most favorite performances of P💜Its simple and pure.🎶 His emotion is real and the way he controls every single thing ,from the band with just a look or motion to the audience that are all floating on his purple cloud😘 He has everyone in the palm of his hand from beginning to end. A truly once in a lifetime performer and I was blessed to see him from the beginning.💞 I hope the younger generations learn about him. His funkness, his jazz, blues, Lil bit of rap, rock and pop. HE HAD IT ALL😘 RIP Prince your always in my playlist daily💜🎶🎶☝✌
