That’s a well known fact across the nfl. DB in general but specifically Cornerback😮😮💨 hardest position in football easily maybe all of sports because the margin for error is so small
@@thewillofd4417 QB isn’t the hardest even if you’re not as talented as far as physical arm talent you can still play if you’re cerebral and have great anticipation. However DB you have to be gifted athletically, cerebral, agile, fast, and instinctive
I hadn't seen this video before but I found it super interesting. We NFL fans realize that these players train all year long, and it is interesting to see some of the techniques involved. The sport is so competitive at the professional level that just shaving a few milliseconds off on a move against your opponent can be what defines success or failure. Even the big 300 plus pound lineman are excellent athletes, combining adequate foot speed with exceptional quickness and strength.
What a fantastic video!!! ♠ No channel does a better job at selecting entertaining videos along with clever observations like you two blokes. Being new to this sport you guys pick up on details that we old timers just overlook because of familiarity. I really enjoy your individual reactions when you have "a moment" when another facet of this game becomes clear and understood. Damo will stop the video and acknowledge it on the spot while Nick just nods his head as the wheels in head turn and fit the pieces together like a puzzle. Its truly fascinating to see. Thanks for another banger guys. You are still batting 1,000. lol...🏈🏈🏈🏈🏈
Great reaction guys! This was really fun and interesting. I’d love to see you guys learn to throw a football properly and get some good spin on it. Maybe you could throw the ball at targets and we can see how accurate you can be. Fun fact, I was the QB on my high school girls flag football team during my sophomore year. That was about 150 years ago.
That was a phenomenal video that I’ve never seen before! An absolute gem that you found there. As for what I’d like to see you guys try to learn for American football… Get a regulation size football and Try route running. Have one person pass the ball and the other person run a route and try to catch it. Take turns. You’ll see just how hard what looks to be the simplest task of the game is. Also, not something to just try in your backyard… You probably have to find somebody over there who trains for this… But learning how to properly tackle I think would be quite interesting. Personally, I find that to be the hardest part because there’s so many wrong or unsafe ways to tackle that you have to be aware of.
I'd love to see you guys try a Punt, Pass, & Kick contest against each other. Start at one goal line facing the other. Start off with a punt, then go to where the punt lands, then throw the ball as far as you can, then go to the spot it lands, and attempt a field goal from that distance. So for example, if you can punt 40 yards, throw 40 yards, and kick a 30 yard field goal, you win.
I’d love to watch a little of everything: running routes with the other throwing, one of you be the db and the other a receiver while a qb throws, friendly throw/catch while slowly getting father apart, kicking/punting. Keep in mind the college size and the NFL size are not the same! 🏈 Try throwing a college sized ball first, it’s smaller.
Cool, interesting video. Along with other suggestions, it might be good to check out pop-warner (youth level) football. You will see how early football players begin developing these skills and how seriously football is at young levels in America. Similar to the madness of little league baseball.
I love that you guys are checking out informative content instead of only highlight videos...it's really fun to see people with a genuine interest in the sport learn little things that lifelong fans know, but couldn't really convey easily to new viewers. Keep it up! 👍
You guys need to do a QB video for your learning about the sport series. Watch a video that shows what a QB goes through for training and improving their throwing mechanics. Then maybe you guys can do a throwing competition after learning more about how to properly throw a football. Or you guys can do a FG or punt competition. Or also try running routes against each other in a 1v1 and have a 3rd person be you guys QB.
Great reaction. Lads. I played for a long time and the amount of training you need to do to get in the league is crazy. Its a grind every day and all day. It can definitely burn you out. I don’t know if theres a jugs machine over there but that would be a good NFL drill video you guys can make. Its the equivalent of the batting cage but instead of baseballs it throws footballs that you have to catch.
The thing that always impresses me is that these players are huge people… I’m 5’3” (160 cm) so they’re giants to me!😂. But they move like gazelles and are as fast as a thoroughbred…. I’m always amazed.
That was very interesting. I've always thought these players did all these drills during preseason and practice. Didn't know they could go to an outside entity. I especially like he's training both sides of the ball. Great video guys!
You guys should definitely just try throwing and catching. It would put a lot of things in perspective. haha Football has evolved/developed so much over the last 30 years. It is literally a science and an art now, from coaches to players. And I'd say the biggest difference/progression has been at the college level.
I watched this video a few years back and it inspired me to buy an agility ladder, mini hurdles, orange octagons, and the other equipment that was used in this video. Let me tell you, no one understands how hard it is to do these complex footwork drills at full speed unless you try them yourselves. At a certain point, it just feels physically impossible to get your feet to touch the ground any faster... The footwork in this video was absolutely inhuman.
This video is amazing, first of all. One thing you guys could do when you get out on a pitch with a regulation-sized football is run routes, one guy is the receiver and the other is quarterback. Have a few simple receiver routes memorized, like a ten yard in/ten yard out/slant and go (sluggo) route/go route and have both guys run them as the other tries to make the pass. These exercises can quickly give you an idea of how difficult hitting your marks and making good cuts on the route can be, while the other gets to experience how weird it can feel to throw a ball that shape for the first time 😂 I think that plus some kicking could be a blast to watch
I always look at the new techniques for training and wish we had things like this when I was playing. There's so much more to help with movement and recovery.
You two should have a punt, pass, and kick 1v1. You each punt 3 balls as far as you can which is easily measurable if you're on a football field, throw 3 balls as far as you can, and then attempt 3 field goals. I'm sure more detailed rules can be found with a quick Google search.
I think this is a hint of something that’s always interested me. Tons of top-notch college players - guys at major programs who are All-Americans, win the Heisman or the national award for their position, seem great - then they can’t even make a roster in the NFL. One reason I guess is stuff like this separates the best from the rest.
I’m excited for week 1 chiefs vs lions. You guys will be surprised the lions are actually good now after just ruining the careers of Barry and Calvin. Should be a great game with two of the top 5 offenses last year.
Exactly! FACTS I saw some of that your talking about.I said, barring injury to any star players,Detroit is a sleeper and coming! Being an NFC East fan,I'm a lot concerned!😳😳🏈
@@AnthonyJolly-yb1qp yeah they actually can sustain some bad injuries and be fine because they have crazy depth at most positions. The 5 that I think could be detrimental are Goff, sewell, hutch, st brown and maybe decker. Not that decker is a top 5 tackle like sewell but the backup tackle position is not looking good. Even hutch could be fine if he gets hurt though there is really good depth at edge.
@@pinkyorbobber Thanks,Damn! I forgot all about Sewell. Also that receiver from Alabama Williams, plus stealing CJ Garner-Johnson from the Eagles..Oh! Snap!😳 They IMO gave Philadelphia they toughest game all regular season..YIKES! That last regular season win vs Green Bay wasn't a fluke.👍👍
Hey, your interest in American sports is impressive and believe me, it's appreciated. However....I worry that it might be borderline "obsession". So I fear that your soccer-mates (sorry about that) may abduct you for an "intervention". Just kiddin'....your videos are great. PS...what you are going to do in October when NFL, MLB, NHL& NBA are playing at the same time (couple of weeks) plus College Football. It's a sensory overload.
Do one thing that seems simple but is hard. Catch punts while a friend is running towards you. Not necessarily to tackle you but to let you know how hard it really is.
It would be cool to see how you guys would do 1 vs. 1 in NFL combine drills. Like 40-yard dash time, how high you can jump, how many times you can press 225 lbs. lol
If you guys could get your hands on a JUGS Machine (or similar device) to experience catching a NFL Caliber Pass or Punt that would make for an insane video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OcKCeJM9KHY.html Device showcased in this video similar to a baseball pitching machine. (Best video I could find that will show what it does, cool little video from NFL films though) Not saying to buy one of course, maybe there's a nearby rental available or something. If there isn't one just throwing and kicking a football around a field would be cool.
US football--what a great sport, right? Check out the Drew Brees passing video for some more eye-openers. Here it is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tVoqA-LKGb4.html
would be amazing if at some point your able to catch a pass from an NFL QB. Video doesn't do it justice...the speed at which the balls are coming at you and the size of an NFL ball. Love the videos guys!!!
For football, we always used to get a full size NFL regulation ball and then see who could a) kick the farthest field goal and b) who could throw the ball the farthest through the air. I think my longest kick was like 30 yards and throw was like 35. The NFL ball is enormous compared to even the college ball, and heavy. But what I REALLY need to see you guys do is lace up some skates and try shooting pucks on the ice. There must be hockey rinks in London that are open to the public. In the States it's usually pretty cheap to get some ice time and rent skates on a Sunday morning, along with a bunch of other folks and kids. Usually don't allow sticks during the free skates, but I think they also have stick and puck open skates on different days. Of course, a three point and free throw shooting competition is also in order! After hitting baseballs, you guys have all the hard stuff out of the way :)
For something you two could try I'd suggest learning to throw a football or trying to kick a field goal. The latter might be easier -- NFL quarterbacks all have enormous hands to be able to grip it properly.
I went to see an NFL game in London years ago, maybe 10 yrs ago. The Brits I met were making fun of American football, saying they aren't in the same shape as soccer players. NFL football is a sissy game because they wear pads, and other stuff they were saying. I'm very sure by now they know better than to say any of that stuff. Playing American football is brutally hard, can injure you severely and you better be in the best shape humanly possible to play the game, especially on the NFL level.
Try throwing and catching a football while running routes. It’d probably be best to look into a video breaking down how to properly throw a football first.
Since you're Brits, try kicking some field goals if you can find a goalpost (ik it's different than those in Rugby). Also, cop a good ole fashioned pigskin (football) and see if you can not only kick it, but also throw and catch it!
Let’s all rally together and get someone like Khalil Mack to tackle these guys (kidding) It might be hard but fielding punts would be hilarious to watch. Or you guys could do your own little combine which could be cool
If you want to make idiots of yourselves, kick some field goals. If you want to do something fun, catch punts or passes from a machine just like the baseballs.
That video wasn’t good; it was fantastic! The quickness of their feet was unimaginable. Then, after all that, they have to engage in a violent collision. And then do it again. Unreal! Next, if you can, line technique training would be great. Seeing those behemoths moving their feet like ballerinas!
Footwork in American football is the basis of all positions. I played offensive line, and if my first step was incorrect that one step makes the difference between the timing of block. That missed timing could blow up the whole play. Football is really about perfect execution.
Id like to see you have conversations with athletes that have played American football and Rugby and talk about the differences between the two worlds, on and off the turf
The worst thing you can do is get used to waking up early. I sleep 4 hours a night and I know mentally I'm exhausted, but my body will wake me up in that time. If I am asleep by 11 I'm up by 3
I would have loved to be able to see prime Barry Sanders run those drills. Barry was never the fastest guy, but he was the most agile running back of all time, no question
Fast feet is a drill every position does in the NFL, but man do the WRs do it like a science. Fast people can be good in the nfl, but change of direction and acceleration are more important
Something cheap and easy for you guys to to would be get a football and have one of you run routes as a receiver and the other one try to throw accurate passes to him. Like sideline toe tap throws and stuff. Just a thought lol you guys are awesome keep it up definitely entertaining
This is exactly why you can be a great route runner and not have that much speed and still be able to get open a lot of people think speed equates to good routes but it doesn’t
There are professional chef's that cook meals for the week for these cats! Very specific stuff that they like but has the correct carbs proteins fats etc
