8:31 - Will you stop talking about the war? - Me? You started it... (?) - We did not start it...(?) - Yes you did, you invaded Poland! That gets me every time lmao
Funnily enough "The Germans" episode was not shown in Germany until the 90s due to fear of causing offence. In reality the satirical self mocking nature went down a storm with the German public, turned out they do indeed have a sense of humour.
Makes sense. It is mocking a certain type of British man/attitude rather than any German. It's like when they banned Speedy Gonzales to avoid upsetting Mexicans...except he was one of the few positive representations of Mexicans in western popular culture and was loved in Mexico.
Grounds keeper Wullie in the Simpsons was a question raised by a knob in Scotlandlandshire parliament. Was told not to be a ‘Fanny’ as he’s representative of Scotland
They should have kept that Blackadder clip going a few more seconds as they missed one of the greatest quotes ever. Blackadder: I'm beginning to see why the suffragette movement want the vote Flash heart: Hey any woman who wants to chain herself to my railings and suffer a jet movement gets my vote. 😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂
Some people think us British are arrogant and pick on foreigners, not true we pick on everyone including ourselves. (looks over shoulder) the secret is we wait to see how you'll react, and if you take the piss back we like you. 😉
"one of my ex wives died and it was very sad cos iit was the wrong one" this is why i wish i was John Cleese. just say whatever the you want, its like that time he was speaking at Graham Chapmans memorial and said good riddance to him the free loading bastard i hope he fries...........
@@henrikhyrup3995 i remember him roasting the vicker he had at school to one of the clergy on tv .said this was the reason he got put off religion.the clergymen calmy said bad news john that was me. pure accidental too.
No Fools and Horses or Dad's Army? German Officer: "Vat is your name!? You shall go on ze list!" Captain Mainwaring: "Don't tell 'im, Pike!" German Officer: "Pike! Right, add him to ze list!" Captain Mainwaring: *facepalm* Private Pike: *rolls eyes*
Not strictly true as, according to Cleese, the money made from his one-man show years ago, plus his share of the revenue from Python’s farewell stage show was sufficient to pay off his alimony. He made his final payment in 2015 and commented in interview that he’s now free and only works if it’s something that interests him. Unless he’s now divorcing Jennifer Wade, which seems unlikely as the press photographed them shopping in London together in April, and they seemed happy enough together then.
@@helmetmcbarin This is British humor, full stop, these are definitive British comedians doing largely definitive British jokes. There is nothing American either about this "perspective" or about the comedy itself
@@wowomah6194at no point did I say this is not british humour 🙄 I said it's from an American perspective implying that the creator of the video compiled videos which americans can relate to more... and alot of its TV shows where americans are more likely to have seen a British person in rather than none staged environments. It's got stereotypes in aswell which americans often think of when referring to British people
This probably offends a lot of people but it's real comedy, i have noticed nothing really is that good today anyway, they're just scared to make anything good incase it offends anyone and people are scared to get cancelled.
I'm 24 but grew up watching these. My personal favourites are Fawlty Towers and Bottom (though I do love a Carry On film!). It's sad that they don't make comedies like these anymore. The world is becoming too Americanised and sensitive in my opinion. Jokes should be seen as just that, jokes! (Edit: Damn auto correct on Fawlty Towers lol)
Yeah I grew up with a lot of these. But now, if you do some of these, someone sitting in front of a computer, most likely privileged enough to be without a job, and living in a nice neighborhood will get so offended, they'll be frothing in the mouth 30 seconds in. After which, they'll start a chain reaction among the handful of loud obnoxious muppets, crying and moaning like someone stole all their Ranch dressing. The din is aggravating enough that society finally succumbs to their whining, despite the voices of reason among most folks, whose heads are screwed on correctly.
He says, on his computer, getting so offended your seemingly frothing at the mouth, crying and moaning and whining, just with the added side of being completely unprovoked by anything to make such a comment. What a snowflake
According to my late grandma, the thought police were very active in the 70s and 80s, severely limiting the scope of comedy. She loved Python, Black Adder, Fawlty Towers and all that. When lockdown hit, I got her an iPad and we watched the likes of Frankie Boyle and Steve Hughes together on Zoom and she would literally be bent over, crying with laughter. She felt she'd waited for comedy like that all her life. 👁 👁 👄 So I think the only difference is that social media allows the people you describe to vent their outrage but thankfully the days of state censorship are over (for now) - at least in the UK. Maybe it's different where you live, but in the UK a good laugh always trumps the whiny complains of the p.c. brigade.
@@pseudonayme7717 It isn't about blocking the advert , it is about that " specific " advert , being nothing like the product. if you saw an advert for a car, went to the car showroom, and they sold you a horse and cart, you'd be annoyed?
The Graham Norton Show, Conan (I think), Blackadder Goes Forth, Jimmy Carr doing something, Little Britain, some American show with most of the pythons, the office, faulty towers, don't know about the French Revolution one but I think it's a carry on film.
Very very few if these are 1970s. Blackadder Goes Fourth was 1989, Little Britain and the Office were early 00s, all the chat shows are pretty recent. Only Fawlty Towers and the Carry On film were 1970s.
@@couldntmixapotnoodle Bu- in this video there was one joke about the war (the Fawlty Towers bit) and at least as far as I could tell NOTHING about the world cup???
Ricky Gervase with Miriam Margolyes, the cast of Monty Python, the cast Carry On AND Blackadder? He’s not funny compared to them, hell Little Britain is funny compared to him!
Mamma Mia WAS a dreadful film! I worked in my boss’ home and one day she said let’s have a lazy day and watch a movie. That was the one she chose. Like a coyote gnawing off it’s own leg to escape a trap I was ready to quit my job and run for the door.
