For those of you who are new to the channel my name is Fen and I am half British and half Libyan and my lovely fiancé Akasha is American but Czech by blood (hence Culture Clash Reactions)
Ricky is a master at pointing out the ludicrous standards enforced by the clueless mobs that exist today. The hypocrisy, the double standards - the only sad thing is that there aren't enough like him speaking up.
The narrative from those comedians really is 'I wish I was born a comedic genius and could simply wait until I was 40 to bother to do anything about it, then take the world by storm'. In reality, Ricky's clearly a hard worker, who's done the hard yards in everyday, 'real' jobs with an incredible yet otherwise normal life experience, and the uncanny ability to make fun of it. His observations and intellectual take on his and our surrounds are pure gold, hence the well deserved wealth and success.
Also, Ricky didn't just "write the Office and suddenly became famous", he had been on the grind for years before that. He used to appear on the 11 o'clock show back in the 90's as a comedian and definitely did not just appear on the scene immediately after the Office. Ricky had done stand-up back then, in smaller venues, but I think he always wanted to get into TV. However, the reason he does stand-up shows now (he doesn't have to) is because he always enjoyed doing them. I don't think he ever really toured like some stand-ups have to, but to say he never really had to graft is just nonsense.
True, but the vast majority of people hadn't heard of him before The Office. I watched The 11 O'Clock Show & tried talking to my colleagues, friends etc. about it. None of them had a clue who or what I was talking about & weren't interested. When The Office began, some of the same people recommended RG to me!
@@davidz3879Yes but that's like saying no one had seen coogans character.. Alan Partridge..before his interview show on TV. He was big in comedy circles before that just like Ricky was. It obvious your mates don't know comedy but you did ✌️
Excellent choice. Ricky forms part of my personal holy trinity of (living) comedians, along with Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle :) Edit: Huh. I may have to make that a holy quad, given Rhod Gilbert exists and is himself.
Ricky was around a LONG time before The Office! He didn’t have it easy as you say. Try looking up ‘The 11 O’Clock Show’. It’s where I first came across him, when he had a (max) 5 minute section in this comedy news show. He was good but yet to be great. You’ll also find it was where Ali G (Sacha Baron Cohen) first made his mark. Same 5 minutes.
Oooh Ricky didn’t have to spend 6 nights a week travelling the country with predictable material . But what did he do before the office was that easy or a struggle for recognition, or did he just divine the brilliant observation that was the office . Maybe Ricky had the worlds most successful podcast for a while . And maybe Ricky can sell out theatres and arenas wherever he goes , maybe he can stand up infront of Hollywood elites and rip them to shreds , where every other comic just sucks up to them ! Boo to the haters .
The joke at around 6 minutes isn't Ricky's joke. I don't remember who did it but it's quite an old joke. From like the 1980s/1990s if I remember right. Originally, it was a little girl giving a statement to a police detective. Everything else is the same - it was just little girl and a detective rather than a father and daughter.
@@PickleThePig I doubt I'm going to be able to find that. It was over a decade ago when I first heard that joke! But it was a fairly common joke at the time.
Stand up is the balance between hoho and haha. The hoho factor can be limitless if the haha component provides the equilibrium and nobody in the world understand this formula better than Gervais.
It´s not that illogical to protect marriage just for heterosexuals, The concept conceived was for a binding relationship between people for the production and security of the next generation ..That is behind the meaning of the word marriage....
No good comedians have ever said that about Ricky Gervais. They all respect him, only ultra liberal comedians have said that. Tiffany Haddish hasn’t skipped the line, she’s terrible and not selling tickets, so it’s not a good example.
By the logic that Gervais isn't a "real" standup comedian - there are many greats that would be included in that list - including Robin Williams. He played some clubs (more for his own benefit than the audience - keeping himself sharp) but never really "struggled" and was cast in television quickly. His true standup career didn't become a thing until after he was famous.
All these PC "shock" reactions PC has engendered are nauseating. It seems many human beings have to have some kind of prudery going to show what"good" people they are. The old sexual prudery is run down now people find another senseless way to signal their "goodness".
I'm not really a fan of Ricky Gervais, not because of the type of humour that he does, I just don't particularly like him as a person, but these jokes are hilarious, even the one with the little girl telling her dad what the man in the park did, they're funny to be because I'm too old (50) to be offended by much, if anything, but also because these sorts of jokes really REALLY piss off all the wokies, libtards and every single one of the PC brigade
