I have always wondered why the Zulus didn't have cavalry and missiles units like crossbowman and archers. Or why they didn't buy guns from Muslim Arab traders from ships along the Indian Ocean coast?
Cavalry and ranged units didn’t really fit in with the Zulu way of combat, which focused on shock assaults and close combat. By the 1820s, Zulus did have a pretty extensive experience and stockpile of guns, though they preferred to integrate them into existing traditional tactics. There was more honor in fighting with a spear rather than a gun, plus Zulus were typically pretty bad marksmen that lacked good ammo.
Zulus really didn't have access to horses, at least not the same way the British did. Horses would have to be bought or traded for. Even then, Cavalry is more than just putting a man on a horse. It's training both the horse and soldier how to work together, how to act and fight in combat, etc. Plus, to be effective over time and stay active, horses need a substantial amount of food and care. Unlike the Plains Indians of the American West, the Zulus had no experience with domesticating and training horses.
@dongilleo9743 During the battle of isandlwane Zulu was forced to fight, Britain 🇬🇧 already had two colony, Cape colony and Natal. British empire didn't have good intentions at all they wanted to colonize the whole country
Actually, this is a fictional battle. My initial idea was to make a video dedicated to the Battle of Isandlwana, but the Isandlwana map in this game is terrible, so I opted for a fictional one. I will put a clarification comment on top, I didn't want to mislead people.
This is a fictional battle set during the Anglo-Zulu War. My initial idea was to make a video dedicated to the Battle of Isandlwana, but the Isandlwana map in this game is terrible, so I opted for a fictional one.
Hey guys, This is a fictional battle set during the Anglo-Zulu War. My initial idea was to make a video dedicated to the Battle of Isandlwana, but the Isandlwana map in this game is terrible, so I opted for a fictional one. In order to make the story more immersive I used sounds and voices from the movies "Zulu" and "Zulu Dawn". I DO NOT own any rights to these movies. The name of the game is: Napoleon: Total War Mod: Victoria at war (1879-1901) It took me over 20 hours to make this "film". If you liked the video consider liking, sharing, and subscribing. Thanks for watching.
