It appears British moomins have confirmed what i always believed, moominpapa is a war criminal. Not just a regular criminal, someone who has committed a number of war crimes and you cant tell me any different.
@@stellabell8640 Veteran of the continuation war, wherein the Nazi and Finnish fought alongside each other in the siege of Leningrad. (St. Petersburg) So it’s not outside of the realm of possibilities that Mooninpapa was in fact a war criminal.
High chances are that was intentional as Tove, the inventor and for the most part writer and illustrator of the moomin books and comics, was bisexual. And there was some ADORABLE parts with snufkin and moomin. One of my faves is my saying "you look silly. You do like him so much?" To which moomin replies "er, i...i suppose so..." "don't you know?" "Yes, but one doesnt SAY it." (And moomins blushing and the flower from snufkin is all sad)
@@Mateusz-qw9pt . . . High chances are you havent read the books and comics and haven't read about her. What's so hard to believe from that? Her first serious love interest inspired Snufkin, and her second Too-ticky. She really was an amazing woman and it's evident that a lot of people appreciate her 'cause her work has outlived her and taken many formes.
@@cottencandykitten High chances are i didn't although the stories could be made neutral and "open to interpretation" from the beginning so one can sing the final notes as one pleases keeping in mind certain relations were suppressed.
The art style for this movie is incredible, really my only complaint of the whole thing is the lack of Snufkin, even with his blue skin. The cgi stuff is ok, but 2d animation like this is so much better and more importantly so much more natural which goes a long way for something like the Moomins
Imagine how much more chaotic the movie would’ve been if they had managed to bring Snufkin along. Like, he would’ve gotten the police on their tails much sooner by liberating private property or something. If they remake the Riviera arc in Moominvalley, I really want them to add Snufkin into the party ;-;

Most of these comic strips Tove released in the London newspaper are. It's based on one of these comics, just it adds Little My for some reason (she isn't in the original comic strip)

Because the original author was lesbian or bi and liked to express some psychological and social issues in her work. The dog was originally in different story tho. I don't know what he is doing on Riviera....
There‘s a site by Mushroom Soup on his channel and there is all Moomins TV content there. (90‘s, 2019, Christmas specials, and Moomins on the Riviera.)
this movie is so underrated- the animation is gorgeous (the colours! ugh!) and just like tove's art style, and the plot is so accurate to the comics. like the attention to detail- every character you see even if they're just in the background for 2 seconds are in the comics. they did such a great job and i never see it talked about.
If you’re wondering “should I watch this move?” then I’m here to say if you can you should! It is absolutely hilarious and the story has so many sides to experience it from! The colors and scenery reminds me of a book which makes it very relaxing to watch.

I really like the art style of this movie, it feels weirdly modern like I could see a twitter artist drawing the characters like that, but it also has some deco inspired elements with the shapes and colors, it really is the best part of the movie
I love the original 90s version of the moomins that had dark moments and fantastic songs both heavenly and haunting as well at the same time too especially the groke scene

Well, to be fair, I think the Melody of Moominvalley movie adaptation might be more faithful than this British film. Also, the art style could be reminiscent of either the books or a Japanese anime. The movie, whose plot line is taken from the Melody of Moominvalley indie game, could be the first feature to have Snufkin as a promiment character.
Seen the entire movie Not going to lie moominmamma and snorkmaiden have the best parts in this movie sadily moomintroll doesn't really do much here and is very forgettable also not much snufkin screen time. It's Still worth a watch alone for mama papa and snorkmaiden hi jinxs
