And, through legislation passed by the Australian Parliament in 1988 under the Hawke Labor government, Her Majesty was also technically the Queen of Australia whenever she visited Australia. Not many of us are aware of that fact. 🇦🇺
English people vacationing. What about the Scots, the Welsh and the Irish. She was their Queen as well. Don’t tell me you think England IS the United Kingdom. The clue is in the name. Good ol’ Murican educational system.
If she hadn't been born into an already famous, rich, privileged family, nobody would give a second thought about some random old lady dying! Pure and simple! P.S. I was actually born in Britain. I don't know why everyone assumed I was American.
I mean how are you supposed to know about a random old woman??? She was a literal head-of-state, a monarch. You cannot compare a regular old lady to a figure like the Queen. During her reign, the royal family got closer to the people than ever, back then there were only portraits of the family in full ceremonial gear and hyper-expensive clothes. She had countless close pictures with her children and stuff like that even though she grew up in an era where It was a huge taboo to speak about the royal family and now the news are filled with them, including their scandals and the most private details. During her reign, the country completely changed socially and economically. She might've still been far from the people, but she was exactly like we are, she's a human with feelings. She was immensely conservative, yet she still broke protocol when she bowed to the casket of Diana. Hate the royals or love them, her legacy cannot be denied. She was an icon. She devoted more than 70 years of her life to serving the country during the hardest times, she kept this outdated institute alive to the very end despite the boatload of scandals sweeping through the Commonwealth, Britain, and her family.
@我陷入了永无止境的痛苦循环 The fact that she was the head of state has absolutely no significance to me, seeing as it was completely unearned. Her "British icon" status is entirely due to the fact that she was BORN royal and nothing to her own credit, regardless if she apparently worked hard or not. So, in that sense, she IS comparable to any old lady. And who's to say any other person couldn't do exactly the same thing, but simply didn't get the same privileged chance? Yet they won't get an entire country "mourning" for them.
I really miss the Queen! I was lucky enough to have met her when I was invited to one of her Garden Parties. Incredibly mischievous smile and the most stunning bluest of blue eyes I've ever seen!
The Queen was the serving monarch for Northern Ireland, Wales, Scotland, as well as the Common Wealth with over 50 nations, not only England. Please give her the respect she deserved having served for over 70 years. This is hurtful, inaccurate rude and lazy journalism from WPLG Local 10.
@amc3 : And some people say "American President" when he only governs North America as the people in South America are "American" too. Many people can be lazy about proper terminology.
I was returning to England from the US in 1997. When I got off the plane I found out Princess Di had been killed in a car accident a few hours earlier.
I’m British, and far, far from a royalist. I want the royals gone. However, I had nothing but admiration for the queen herself. A sad loss for the country and the world regardless.
Congratulations ! Perhaps you`d consider pitting your clairvoyant genius against the money markets. You`ll make a lot more - or a lot less - than $100:00 in such ways.
No nor was Russia all of the USSR but it was often what people said and they knew better. The same goes for Holland and The Netherlands. We know Holland is only one region. BTW you can get off your high horse. I was in the UK last summer, actually London, England and I watched one of your game shows. A contestant thought there was a West Carolina. Another trip when people found out I was American from Georgia, USA, I had numerous people ask me if that was close to Connecticut, California, New York, etc. Only one man knew I was from the southern region USA. Why? His son lived in Brimingham, Alabama.
we will miss lizzy. Just hoped big ears would of got the message that the royals needed a younger face and stood aside for william instead of grasping his big fat peado fingers on it
