Another mix of British sixties pop ..featuring Petula Clark, Herman's Hermits, Kenny Lynch, Lulu, Billy Fury ,The Marbles, Unit 4 Plus 2, Billy J Kramer, The Bee Gees, Craig Douglas, The Applejacks, Eden Kane and Gerry and The Pacemakers . No copyright infringement intended. All videos shared from You Tube. Thank you to everyone who has watched Part One. PS My apologies for the very short Searchers clip. The song was blocked for some reason.

Guessing Beatles , Stones and Who were left out because of copyrights but being born in 59 I'm thankful the good stuff from the sixties survived for me (and my kids) to appreciate. Excellent job on the You'll Never Walk Alone footage. Only needed Bella and Bertie atop the Royal Liver Building. Trust there is a Part 3 in the works.

His version of Since you've been gone with rainbow is the best. His style was even copied, including the "huh" bit, by Michael Ball on an album of rock and pop songs he recorded. I cheered the first time I heard him do that, and laughed. I could hear Michael having fun singing rock, and not taking himself too seriously.

The Billy Fury clip starting at about 28 minutes is a real hoot! He looks like he was the British version of Elvis! I find it ironic that the British had a copy-cat Elvis in the early 60s, and then by the mid-60s, it was the Americans who were trying to copy the Beatles and the Stones, and all of the other British Invasion stars! How ironic that was.
@peteroberts4033
@peteroberts4033 2 года назад
Very interesting observation Joe. We all wanted to look like Elvis in those days. I know I did. 🙂
@bennyfactor1
@bennyfactor1 2 года назад
Probably because by the time the Beatles hit Elvis had already sold out, and the rest of the American charts were full of pop stars called Bobby who not only sung safe music but had the stamp of approval from their parents and the establishment. The music the Beatles and co also bought with them helped change the tide. Fascinating reading the accounts of people such as Merryl Steep, Billy Joel, Sigourney Weaver, Springsteen, etc on how hearing the opening bars of I Wanna Hold Your Hand, or watching the first minutes of the Ed Sullivan appearance, changed their view of the world and what it had to offer overnight.

You spent so much time with Gerry and the Pacemakers you gave the listener a "cut" of "Needles and Pins"? That stinks!

You Tube removed the Needle and Pins video..not me. Anyway ..why are you moaning . It is all free and you don't have to watch. Make your own if you don't like my selections.

There is only one Gerry and the Pacemakers track on this particular video ..and You Tube blocked The Searchers as I explained in my notes at the bottom of the video. I rest my case !!
