British Premium Cruiser "Exeter" Review - World of Warships Blitz

HMS Exeter is currently given away in the Blitz Pass, and since my review is already almost 4 years old, it's a good opportunity to revisit that particular ship - plus, the British heavy cruiser tech tree has since released, so that's something to put into perspective as well. This is my personal account, so no 12-point captain or historical camo :)

I knew one of the crew of Exeter some years ago (96 years old, since passed away) - incredibly humble, very kind, and told me a little about a "bit of a punch up" with the Germans in 1939. I found out later that "bit of a punch up" is apparently code for " they beat the living s*** out of my ship and my turret was the only turret that survived". What a guy.

It was quite interesting when it came out, but takes some work to not get deleted due to the absolute lack of armour.

I've had her for a bit now and I find it fun to play, if played correctly. It's a tier 5 with inline dual mounted turrets, which is way above her tier 5 counters.

Basically the Exeter looks like a steel encased Piñata that is slow and could be out maneured by a sunken battleship.

I remember this ship. I use this to get my commanders to lvl5 if I'm not willing to spend free exp. Put a commander, farm, rinse and repeat. Basically that's it. It's not that bad, the only advantage is it's premium.

She was somewhat unique before the CA line came out, and it's not a terrible ship - not great, but ok, and decent as a captain trainer. I'll have to test out on press if using APCS can make a significant difference in her firepower.

Simple. Don't. Jokes aside, they generally combine the bad parts of a cruiser (lack of effective armour protection) with the bad parts of battleships (poor manoeuvrability), combined with guns that have a low rate of fire, but at the same time lack the calibre to do sufficient damage. I try to avoid those ships, although they can work ok when played correctly and given the right circumstances

Terry, I had a retake on the Texas as a generally poor ship. However, did you know it has the best survivability and AA for tier V BBs? In a division it could be useful ?

Königsberg in the right hands is probably the king of T5, and I've sent Exeters running in the PA T5 CL. It's about the tier - most players at 5 in a Königsberg will engage you broadside on firing HE, or not use their guns at all, and try to get into torpedo range.

Konigsberg is the best cruiser of tier V. It bested out even the premium cruisers.

I like this ship.but it needs a buff ,something to bring it up to compete a little better that tier 5 and six has changed a bit and she should be change a bit.Maybe a little more health or buff in armour or maybe bump up the damage from the guns or maybe if reload is better or maybe up torpedo damage something to give it a little more fight.Historical wise it was a very tough ship.

I think she's ok for T5, but not outstanding. My preference for a buff would actually be manoeuvrability - she really doesn't have any armour, so it can take quite some effort to stay alive

She’s a decently good ship for a tier 5! At least she isn’t as bad a the Hawkins! Also no pun intended but she did “Exet” the battle of the river plate rather quickly courtesy of a certain pocket battleship.

The matchmaker has been a lot more aggressive for a while. We've traded waiting time for more bots when the servers are quiet. Also depends on the tiers, 5 and below can be less busy

She’s honestly not bad I own her and I can make her work. But honestly I’d rather play königsberg or Nürnberg or Spee you get the idea. Not bad but she gets overshadowed by my other ships

Re-Review italian battleships there accuracy is somewhat worse and they have removed the precise aim from Cristoforo Colombo .

She's got light cruiser armour and bad manoeuvrability - not an easy ship to play, but can deal a decent amount of damage if the team allows.

@@FunandGameswithTerry if the team allows, I play random, so this just isn't a ship that can really be used. Too many Leroy Jenkins on whatever team I'm on, lol.
