Man, it feels like this is the last time we bothered doing a large electrification upgrade... watching the teams of guys laying the track and cable is pretty mesmerising in its cadence. Just walking up and down the train, tying cables to cable stays. Love the overhead shot of Glasgow Central in the APT promo section too. The APT which, of course, wouldn't have been possible without the electrification you show first! Though it's a tragedy that half the trains which run down that line still run diesel, because they go a bit further south than London and that part was never electrified. Which really exemplifies why I opened the comment as I did... every part of every mainline, at a minimum, needed to be electrified. And we fell far, far short of that.
NJ Transit has a similar issue on some routes. Everything into New York is electrified, but several other lines aren't, while the coast line is only mostly electrified, with diesel power being needed for the last 15 miles or so. Also a couple lines have a different electrification for some reason.

Seeing the 317 in NSE livery trundling over the Welwyn Viaduct at the start of the ELO song really takes me back.
