The normal driver's license in Germany before 1999 allowed you to also drive a truck. That has changed nowadays and now there is a special license for heavier vehicles.
Not really, you were allowed to drive cars and transporters up to 7,5t, so only very small trucks. Real trucks used up the 7,5t almost for the empty weight alone, so even with a downgraded 12t truck, you could only carry 1-2t
It's a real shame not to understand Torsten Sträter's humor directly. He's such a master of language, and subtitles just don't do him justice. Just watching programs by people like him would make learning German worthwhile. For me it was the same the other way around. I didn't really learn English in school, it was my own effort and its paying out to have direct access to the wealth of the English language space, both culturally and professionally.
