Southport 1983, coppers were c**ts. Merseyside cops. Arresting anyone and everyone for no good reason. And it rained the Saturday night. Spent Sunday outside the courthouse waiting for two of ours lads to be released on drunk and disorderly charges (they were both literally sober!). £80 quid each fine and costs. Never went back to Southport ever again. Yarmouth and Skeggy were the best rallies in the 80s, followed closely by Morecambe. Can't comment on IoW as every year something cropped up August bank holiday so I couldn't go except for 1985, and my scooter broke down half way there, crankshaft bust, back home with the AA.
I did morecambe 86...didn't have a scooter but got persuaded to go by some local scooter boys who I was mates with ...after initial fears and reassurance i thought it would be a giggle to go on my Suzuki GSX custom motorcycle with a local scooter boy as pillion...met lots of great people including the rat and rodent scooter club and we all drove into hest bank in convoy ...grest weekend and made many new friends
I had a Vespa in 1969 and we used to go to Skegness and Scarborough, always trouble with the bikers but it was fun, I bought a Lambretta a couple of years ago and restored it and my mate who I've known for over 60 years bought 2 and restored them, now we plod around when the sun shines reliving our youth as old age pensioners.

Yes" IOW 1984 i was there, Rode from Stourport On Severn" Worcestershire down to Southampton docks, Took some 12+ hours in a large convoy of club scooters, Broke down six times and ran out of petrol twice, !! But it was well worth it as we got there in time for Edwin Starr on stage" and made myself almost bankrupt blowing a lot of money in Raffle tickets hoping to win EXILE, Lol, For me it has to be the best Scooter rally of many that i Attended, Great Happy Scootering youth, 💯👌 ✊PATCH✊
