Throughout this whole video as well as part 1 I was calling fastbreaks "turnovers" I'm sorry 😂 I thought I was using the right terminology the whole time and now I feel so dumb
When the defenders are standing still in front of the dunkers, they're trying to get penalty called a "charge." You can only get a charge called if they attempt a dunk and fail or go for a layup. But if they make the dunk, its legal.
I'd recommend reacting to your namesake Luka doncic. Man's is having the greatest season a 20 year old ever has and is a leading MVP candidate much love from up north in scotland
Payton Marlow statistically he’s having a better season and he’s on a worse team than Magic. Lebron is a debate but he was less efficient and played 42 minutes just to average less in each category.
CJ Lew I cant argue against that. All I could say is Luka is on a better overall team and he still has to prove the consistency through the rest of the season. If he keeps these stats, then ide put him over LeBron
CJ Lew u could call me a “Bronsexual” or whatever but what I saw from LeBron that season was incredible and also still came in a slightly more congested physical era without today’s floor spacing
Payton Marlow That‘s why I said Lebron was a debate, of course the season isn’t over yet and LeBron was great so I can’t for sure put Luka’s season 1st until then.
11:10 right there, you're looking at the "Lob City" Los Angeles Clippers at the height of their primes. Blake Griffin was dunking on everybody and creating highlights left and right, with "Point God" Chris Paul throwing him lobs as well as Jamal Crawford, one of the best bench players of this century
I love watching him slowly become more and more interested in basketball, whenever he sees a play that amazes him it makes me think of what it was like when I first saw these plays. Keep this coming dude
The reason you see a lot of Blake Griffin in here is because that team was nicknamed "Lob City" because they had, at the time, the best dunker in Blake Griffin and best passer in Chris Paul. It was SOOO much fun to watch that team.
Used to be? I understand if u mean he isn’t as good at dunking anymore but it kinda sounds like ur saying he fell off when these past few years he’s been playing his best basketball
I just recently found your channel, and I would just like to say that it is so refreshing and so relaxing to hear someone from the UK discussing American Sports. I know that you are not the only person who knows about American sports, but it is very nice to see a person native to the UK that takes the time to try and understand our sports. Thank you
Hey Luka! I really enjoy your videos. Your genuine reactions are such fun to watch! I really appreciate you getting out of your comfort zone to learn about North American sports. Too many people only stick with what they know, so seeing someone so young getting so excited to learn about new things is encouraging. Your videos have helped me add to my vocabulary: "Oh my days!" "He got sent!" "That was mental!" Just a few general suggestions: 1. Don't pay attention to the haters. They're only happy when everyone else is miserable. 2. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Even the biggest "expert" had to ask questions at some point. 3. Don't stifle your curiosity. Whether it's basketball or football, highlights or documentaries, keep watching and learning (and reacting). Thank you so much for making watching sports fun again. Peace!
Something about him learning new things about basketball and see someone else get excited about learning the sport just makes me excited and entertains me so much
I love this guy so much. Most people would try to find ways to be upset with a sport that’s different to what they’re used to, but he is so open minded to every sport
Two suggestions: Larry Bird career highlights also Jordan Kilganon dunks. Favorite dunk of all time is Vince Carter leaping clear over his opponent in the Olympics
I really like these reacting to basketball highlights because I'm also an English football fan but also im a big basketball fan and posterizing dunks made me love the sport
Basketball is definitely the best sport in the world. The most exiciting, most fun to watch, most fun to talk and debate about, has the best player rivalries, has alot of drama and controversies, has a rich history, have one of the best athletes in the world, most fun to play, has a very high learning curve. Everyone loves basketball🏀🏀🏀🔥
I just found your channel and have been binge watching your videos. I love watching your reacting to basketball slam dunks. I think it would be awesome for you to react to Jordan Kilganon. He is a 6’1 professional dunker who I think is the best in the world. There is a video of him title “top 100 dunks never done in an nba dunk contest” and it is absolute insanity from start to finish!
Kobe came into the league in 1996. He retired after 20 seasons in 2016. Fun bit of info about his last game is he scored 60 points. Keep in mind he was 37 at the time.
there are two dunks IMO that are legendary. The first is Jerome Lane Dunking and breaking the backboard while at Pitt along with the commentary going crazy and of course Scottie Pippen dunking on Patrick Ewing and the chaos that happened afterwards. Enjoy the vids. Keep it up
Would kindly disagree. Though VC may be a pioneer of lot of great dunks we've seen, Gordon and Lavine have completed a variety of dunks that we haven't seen VC capable of doing (he's never attempted so I can't say he necessarily couldn't complete them) but a lot of dunks VC has done can be easily cleared by Lavine and Gordon.
@@derderder2261 He said best dunked of all time, Lavine and Gordon have pulled out a wider range of dunks than VC throughout their time in the NBA. The person who made the comment didn't specify if it was in game or contest.
Love your videos. Your enthusiasm and openness to American sports is wonderful. I think we need a GoFundMe to get you to the states to see some games, brother.
The best dunks people love seeings are posterizers. Posterizers are when a defends jumps in the air trying to block the dunk and the dunker succeeds in gettings the dunk, sometimes the defender fall over which is usually the most entertaining part
What makes Basketball so fun to watch is that in the NBA the talent is extremely high with a low roster number. A big play can happen almost anytime with a low shot clock forcing fast pace movement.
It’s because we have so many people playing basketball , you have athletic high jumpers that can jump 40 inches or more , and then you search the country for tall guys over 6 foot 5 inches tall and you end up finding guys that can jump insanely high but are tall enough that they don’t even have to jump much to dunk , that combination makes for insane dunks on a 10 foot rim !
On your post earlier I saw someone reccomend March Madness. It is College Basketball's 64-team Tournament for the National Championship and it's one of the most watched sports events in America. We also have a "bracket challenge" where you guess the winners of each matchup all the way to the final. The thing with those is there is a ridiculously low chance of getting them all right because there are always "upsets" where a team that was rated very low beats the one considered to be better. I think you'd enjoy it, especially if you like what you've seen from the NBA. College Basketball has a better environment imo, though maybe I'm biased for growing up a Syracuse fan
I recommend you should watch top crossovers in nba. Crossovers are basically jukes in the basketball sport and they are just so satisfying to watch especially when the player makes the shot over the defender they make fall over
here are some basketball terms Turnover- when a player loses the ball (out of bounds or another player steals it) Alley oop- when a player throws the ball midair to another player for a dunk. Poster- when a player dunks on another player who tried to block the dunk (yes blocking a dunk is a thing even though it is rare) buzzer-beater- when a player makes a shot as soon as the time runs out charge/offensive foul- when you see players who get dunked on standing still with their hands over their groin they are trying to take a charge and draw an offensive foul on the offensive player. fast break- when a player gets a rebound and immediately runs the full length of the court or passes the ball up the court to beat the defense hopefully, that helps (also react to Zion williamson's dunks or kyrie irving best handles and finishes)
The number 1 dunk all time is not in an nba game it was vince carter jumping over a 7 footer in the olympics. In the nba their are so many dunks that you can argue. That deandre dunk you just saw, the Blake Griffin dunk on mozgov, the vince carter dunk on Alonzo morning, tracy mcgrady on shawn bradley, Nate Robinson putback, I'm sure thier are dozens before the 2000s I've never seen as well.
@ 4:18 the defensive player was trying to draw a "charge" which is where the offensive player runs through the defensive player who is completely standing still.
For these NBA videos a way to know if its an important game is looking at where they have the score, they usually have things that say the "NBA Playoffs" or "Finals". The playoffs being the best teams that season playing for the championship and the "Finals" being the final two teams playing for the championship! In the playoff bracket there is a "East" and "West" side, so "Eastern Conference Finals" or "Western Conference Finals" are the final two teams from their respective side of the bracket.
Kobe retired on April 13, 2016. Speaking of Kobe check out his alley oops to Shaq in the 2000s WCF since you like alley oops so much and his 81 point game! I'm really enjoying watching your reactions, and how you're learning terms. Welcome to the NBA fandom!
Micheal Scott MJ is close #2. Scottie is up there too I think. Blake and LeBron are close as well. I know I’m a dumbass because I feel like I’m forgetting someone...
Videos like this are showing to everyone that NBA players are by far the most athletic human beings on earth. They are so fucking big and still unbelievably fast and quick with their feet
Go to a basketball hoop at regulation 10 ft high and picture yourself trying to do some of these dunks. I remember standing at the free throw line once and thinking how absolutely crazy it is that people take off from there and dunk it.
Not gonna lie, it's clear you don't know the most about the sport. But it's proper cool to see the intrest you have for it. Keep up the good content bud
When the defense player stays still they are trying to “take a charge” A charge is a foul where the offense runs into a motionless defense player (or just outright runs over someone lol) That circle on the paint under the basket is a “restricted zone” meaning you can’t take a charge inside that zone. Many if these dunks are a result of a player not being set for a charge (they are still moving into position) or they are in the restricted zone when trying to take one. OR they are just trying to block and getting demolished 😝
