@@alanx216 They're not the same, both places do different things and will taste different to others. plus they probably had Koreas Popeyes a lot and want to do US for the first time
I forgot that Keith doesn’t really yell all the time like he does in Try Guys lol. It shocked me at first seeing him so chill but I love it! Definitely matches the energy of Jolly.
Yes! I too was surprised at how quiet and chill he is in this video. But then if you listen to their TryPods or their "serious" try vids, he is that chill. Hopefully, they'll get another opportunity to have another collab soon.
Yeah, it's so easy to forget all the yelling is only really in the competition videos. Not in any of the serious or chill or goofy stuff. And almost never in all of the episodes of the podcast, and that is so many hundreds of hours of them talking, with almost no editing.
I looooove Popeyes! Years ago, my #3 son worked for Popeyes and it was a franchise store here in Saint Charles, Missouri USA. I was a single Mom and money was tight. My son worked close and at the end of the night his boss sent him home with bags of chicken and all the trimmings! God Bless him for his kindness. I'm so happy you featured Popeyes in this video and that you enjoyed it! ❤️ Thank you.
thats a really cool boss. ive worked in a few restraunts/fast food places soo much good food is wasted and just thrown out, so thats nice he would let your son take it home!
@@AlessaParker Why would you care what someone called BTS FOREVER thinks. I think they are expanding fast across UK so we will get to try it soon. Also European KFCs are much better than American ones so it should be good. The only place that I didnt like was Jollibee personally.
I know this is way late but seeing the try guys go international more would be awesome they’ve been to Australia and Singapore soo… and England isn’t that far from the U.S so this collab in England could very much happen!
I love the look Josh and Olly share when Olly calls Keith's sauces "warm sauces". Josh definitely got a kick out of it, even though Keith didn't react to the joke as much, lol.
Being Filipino and having Popeye’s when we went to the US is just an eye opener. I agree with Keith that Popeye is better than Jollibee, especially with their chicken since Popeye’s chicken is crispier and has more flavor. But Jollibee is our no-brainer, go-to fast food and will forever be a Filipino staple.
I would love to see the Try Guys in Korea with the Korean Englishman: Zach’s love for BTS, Eugene on the fashion and kpop, and Keith trying all the Korean food. That would be amazing! Edited to exclude that cheater!
You have to mix the read beans and the rice together, mix them together well before eating it, really good dish and it is an iconic and staple food of the south and home of Popeye's, New Orleans Louisiana
Agreed, but the problem here is likely that Popeye’s version just sucks. Last time I had it at Popeye’s around a month ago it was a lukewarm flavorless mush that tasted like it had been left out for ten hours under a heat lamp.
I was worried I was eating them wrong all this time when they didn't stir it. I think their version is good but it needs salt, and they are missing out not dipping the chicken in the red beans and rice.
I would love to see a continuation of this collab where Jolly takes Keith to Korea or they make him try different Korean dishes, I know it would be an amazing video
I’m crossing my fingers for a Try Guys x Jolly collab on the Try Guys channel. There’s no way that they met up just to dip chicken into mash potatoes, right? … Right? 🙃
Popeyes started out a regional chain, I’m pretty sure. With New Orleans - well, Arabi which is a “suburb” of New Orleans, origin. Al Copeland was the founder. It still surprises me when we go to other states and see Popeyes everywhere. At least I know we can find tasty food when we see it. Glad to see ya’ll enjoying it!
Funny thing is that the first Popeyes (chicken on the run) was in downtown Baton Rouge but closed when Baton Rouge shutdown their street car service.. it didn’t last long though 2 years I think
I think it's kind of nice to see a more genuine Keith that's less of the character he's developed. In his old videos he's more chill like this, while in recent Try Guys videos he's definitely acting up.
@@secretforreddit and we still got to see his natural jokey charm! i mean, JOLLEITH. i love it. he's a natural. i always remember how any time the Watcher boys (Shane Madej, Ryan Bergara, Steven Lim) talked about Buzzfeed or Keith, they'd gush over how much of a great mentor Keith was, and how easygoing and friendly he is, just made people feel welcomed and all that.
@@BeeWhistler biscuits I get here are dry as f. without butter & jam or honey, I completely rely on childhood memories to fully enjoy it. I still get one everytime i go to Popeyes though 🙈🤣
I can’t believe Ollie and Josh are the same guys who were horrified with the thought of biscuits dipped in gravy…. They were dipping their way throughout the video!😂😂😂
Really inconsistent with their quality though. Usually they’re good, but sometimes they’re bland and I’ve even been to a location where they tasted sour. No bueno. Best side overall though
Keith's gradual transition into food athlete and hot sauce salesman has been something to watch. I feel like that's about 75% of his job at this point.
@@RexZShadow Granted I have not been to one in a few years and it's and I never had 1 close enough to me to be a habit but I have no idea what that is either
I love your videos. They showcase the fact that the United States is 50 different countries wrapped into one Nation. And that means at least 50 different cultures of food. Cultures that have embraced the cultures of the world and made them their own. Truly a melting pot of cultures.
I love how josh is just impressed by anything Keith does at the beginning like when he dipped the chicken into the gravy and Josh was like "I've never seen that before" but in an episode where they tried Jollibee in London he also did the same without anyone to teach him lol I found the situation rather funny
Keith does give Lurch vibes but I wouldn’t say a horrific face. Also, he single-handedly (unless he’s holding a burger) answers the question: “What that mouth do?”
I love when Keith puts Jollibee as a special Shoutout to this video. I know Popeyes is already engraved in his heart but at least jollibee is in his top list. And I respect it.
The friendship between the two guys is truly uplifting, including the reaction when Ollie’s Juno is born. Wish we had Keith’s sauce in France, because after four operations on my heart over three years, I am forbidden really spicy food😢😢
Keith and Jolly! Eyyy the crossover we didn't know we needed - if only you could get Keith & Son Heung-Min with Korea Food in 1 Video ;) Or all the Try-Guys w/ Son Heung-Min ;)
I used to work at Popeye’s and during down time, when you might wipe down tables or restock the drink area, you just brush more butter on the biscuits. Those things end up with more butter than bread.
This gives me new questions in my head. 1 Would Korean fried chickens get along with mashed potato and gravy? 2 Is it possible to do yangyeom chickens as fillings for sandwiches? 3 Why some people seemed to not be the fans of KFC but like fried chickens from other places so much?
i can answer 3, in America KFC has gone downhill with quality in the past decade, used to go there a lot as a kid and i lived for the mash potatoes but nowadays i don’t even see nor go near em
I have friends who call KFC "Kentucky Fried Pigeon " because the pieces are small. Fried chicken is one of my favorite foods, but I rarely go there. We went to a local place when I was young, KFC didn't enter my world until I turned 21. The original is too greasy, the crispy doesn't have enough flavor. They took away potato wedges and grilled chicken. The only thing left is the pot pie, and I think the ones from the supermarket are at least equal to KFC
You eat it often enough and you can see and taste the differences between KFC and other fried chicken restaurants. KFC is way too greasy and the batter on the chicken gets no crunch. Popeyes on the other hand the chicken crunches good.
At least for the korean fried chicken I've had, it absolutely would go with mashed taters/gravy! The gravy flavor is not overpowering. The basic idea is to get some sauce on crunchy chicken and use the chicken as a utensil for a side.
The gravy dipping is more of a Jolibee's thing to me. Also, the red beans and rice is way better than the mashed potatoes and gravy. Now, as someone else stated earlier get the cajun rice in with the gravy and you're onto something.
Lol I think the only reason us Southerners like red beans and rice is cause that was the go-to struggle meal that we grew up on, it's certainly an acquired taste
Should have mixed the red beans and rice together not just take it as it comes, makes it much better. Also should have got the tenders and then dipped it in the taters and gravy and also dipped it in the red beans and rice so much better that way!
I know, it looks so weird with the rice floating on top. I bet the texture was strange with the dry rice and gooey beans when it should be a happy saucy party. Mix that ish up!
Yeah, I feel like maybe they should have gotten a Southerner to teach them how to eat this stuff right instead of teaching them to dunk everything into the potatoes and not mixing the beans and rice.
You ALWAYS mix the red beans and rice. And dipping the biscuit in the potatoes? Nah. You dip the biscuit in the red beans and rice. Or, cut the biscuit in half and smother each side with a heap of red beans and rice.
I've never done that with chicken either. And at Popeye's I'm pretty sure I've never even HAD the potatoes. Always red beans and rice. And back when a dinner came with TWO sides (oh, those were the days!), the second was dirty rice.
asking for no onion on a burger should be a crime. Onions are amazing, especially on a burger. They add a nice subtle crunch and flavor, plus a bunch of good nutrients. The onion is probably one of the most healthy things about the burger too!
Rev Chris is sosososo nice but Eugene might feel weird having to record with a priest and having rules about it. Not saying is a fact, but a possibility. It would be a fun collab though.
Listen, red beans and rice is CLASSIC TRADITIONAL New Orleans food. I grew up eating it once a week. I love it. But I understand when non bean people can't get into it. More for me ;)
I wasn't a fan of it when I first tried it. It had an unfamiliar aftertaste. But now, I can't get Popeyes chicken without it. I can skip the mash and gravy but never the red beans and rice.
I'd say British people, if any kind of people, are bean people. I think for Ollie it was the spice profile that he didn't know how to expect. I love rice and beans with most cultural spice profiles, but it just seemed like that's what it was for Ollie.
Keith has the testosterone level of an 80 year old man. This is not my opinion. It's a fact. They tested the "Try Guys" testosterone levels on an episode.
I’m surprised he didn’t take them to Tokyo fried chicken since it’s his favorite chicken spot. But I mean, Popeyes is probably the best fast food America has to offer too…
@ThePhrenegade in EVERY way. I'm not from America but I live here now and each and every time I buy from Popeyes, no matter where, they seem to be angry that I'm making a purchase. I'm not gonna feel like I'm begging for the mediocre food I'm paying for lol.
OMG!!!!! I’ve been a Korean Englishman subscriber for close to a decade, and have been an even strong Jolly viewer since they started that channel. I COULD NOT EVEN BEGIN to fully appreciate just how great a Try Guys Koren trip could be with Josh and Ollie; wether on their channel or yours and I’m ABSOLUTELY going to suggest this to them too. That might be the GREATEST/FUNNIEST collaboration that RU-vid has ever seen!, but as the “Korean Englishman” would also show you some of the most authentic, amazing experiences within Korea. Let’s be honest, at this point, they truly do have some pull in who they meet and adventures they can take people on. I’m ABSOLUTELY going to message them with the same kind of idea. (I couldn’t be more excited for that)
As an old subscriber of both channel, it's really excited to finally see them together and idk why but this calm Keith just hit different, but it's a good thing tho as he try to adjust to Jolly's energy
We have Popeyes in the Philippines. Me and my wife looks for the rice since we got used to Jollibee's combo meals always with rice. But no problem we just ordered rice. Its really good chicken and biscuits, we loved it.
The one thing I always think about when watching these food fest videos is I hope that there are people finishing off the food that has been ordered. I hate to see food waste when there are so many people around the world going hungry.
As proficient as Keith is in fast food, especially fried chicken, I'm surprised that he thought the spicy chicken sandwich had spicy breading. It was pretty well documented that it was only the sauce that is spicy.
@@MaraLoeters 6:22 - "Now you should try the spicy one, because the spicy one not only uses the spicy batter, but also uses a spicy mayo". Maybe he MEANT to say it doesn't have a spicy batter but only a spicy mayo, but the way he said it, he said it includes both.
Popeye's is my favorite. I did a chicken sandwich test with five different fast food places and Popeye's came out on top. KFC was a close second. Chick-fil-a came in last for me.
I live in a southern USA state, home of fried chicken. Love Popeyes. However, I have never ever dipped a biscuit in mashed potatoes and gravy. Pour gravy over them….yes! And never dipped fried chicken in it either.
@@rachelk4805 No it’s definitely a southern thing in general. I have family in Ga and we all do it. So I don’t know why they haven’t experienced it, but people do grow up with different ways of eating.
I think we need to see your birth certificate. I can't believe a fellow American has never dipped their chicken (or Turkey on Thanksgiving) in mashed taters and gravy.
I feel so happy seeing you guys enjoy American food. Be sure to get your blood pressure and cholesterol/triglycerides test from your doctor at least once each year.
If there weren't so few A&Ws left I would love to see a review. The root beer floats would be enough. I grew up in an area where they were still around in small towns. I have have one in my hometown, and I love it. 😀
