Brixham is a seaside fishing town close to Torquay and Paignton in Devon in the part of the world known as the English Riviera. We take our cameras for a look around Brixham at sunset to have a walk around the harbour and seafront in the early evening as the sun sets over the beach.
The seaside town of Brixham revolves very much around the harbourside where most of the tourism is centred around the hotels, guesthouses, shops, bars, restaurants and tourist attractions there. Just past Brixham Harbour is the beach and seafront where you can relax and paddle in the sea or enjoy a seaside ice cream or fish and chips and watch the sea lapping up on the beach.
Brixham harbour is also where the annual Pirate Festival takes place. The Pirate Festival is an event and tourist attraction that pulls in thousands of people to Brixham town centre every year and they all dress as pirates! It really is a sight to enjoy! There is also a full size replica of Sir Francis Drake's Golden Hind boat moored in the harbour for people to go onboard and enjoy a walk around and learn some of the history of the ship and Brixham.
There's also another reason that Brixham is popular and that is that the TV show Fish Town was centred around and filmed around Brixham Devon. Fish Town is a popular documentary that is focussed on the working lives of people in the town and looks at the fishing town and how people live and work here.
But tourism is certainly a main reason for people to visit, whether it's for a short break or even a full holiday, with Torquay and Paignton close by and just a short drive or a ferry ride away.
Throughout the year Brixham is home to many events whether that be the Pirate Festival, the annual Trawler Race, the Heritage Festival or Vintage Ships race and they're all worth a trip here to see them in action!
In this video we see Overhang Road, The Quay, The South West Coast Path, The Golden Hind Museum Ship, The William Of Orange Statue, King Street and Berry Head Road that takes us past Brixham Marina.
We also see Brixham Breakwater and Pier, and Breakwater Beach where people are relaxing before heading back to their hotels and bed and breakfasts!
