There are different police officers, the ones at pride are there as, i believe, the lower grade officers who interact with public, they're promoting their presence to assist the gay community if they feel targeted and to also protect the public if anything escalates due to large public gatherings. I don't see how police interaction in pride has a bad effect, it makes them approachable. I do object to the kneeling though.
