What a superb performance put up by Stuart Broad, he hits a six on his last ball as a batsman and scalps the final wicket of his last ball to win it for England! Such a genius as he pulls the curtains down in style. A fairytale ending to a great career. Cheers 🥂 Broady, have a great life ahead❤
I'm an Aussie fan, but one of the reasons I love sport is those fairytale endings, the unlikely wins, the underdog stories etc. I'm glad we retained the Ashes, but Stuart Broad is a legend and I'm glad he got to finish his amazing career in such a way. Not every great player gets to have such a moment and create such memories. An amazing see-sawing series. Can't wait for the next one!
you retained them for 2 reasons only 1) "gamesmanship" 2) the weather England were by far the better team and didn't need to cheat. But what can you expect when you have 2 proven cheats in the team. Well done England. Made the ozzies look bang average at best.
@@artful1967 Utterly Classless and what I have come to expect from typical whingeing poms. Understand the history of cricket before throwing the first stone. Were you so quick to judge Atherton when he ball tampered (and then lied about it before being exposed as a liar) ? What about 2005's now illegal exploitation of the substitute fielder rules ? Countless more examples, of which bodyline was the most egregious - England have absolutely no moral high ground in this sport. It's a massive stretch to think that even if Bairstow hadn't got himself stumped that England would have won that match. It was a sliding doors moment that turned Stokes on. There's every chance his innings doesn't happen, and Bairstow himself didn't average the 40-odd missing runs. Look elsewhere for that win. And lastly weather ? open the other eye. England had BY FAR the better weather conditions for the entire series - Leeds cost Australia being sent out to bat in the gloom. Then chuck in the ball-change at the Oval which cost Australia the 5th test to boot and you have an England team that was very lucky for 4 tests and very unlucky for one. Such a shame you don't possess the self awareness to realise your own biases and just applaud and enjoy an incredible series.
@@artful1967 cry more, you had the weather on your side for 4/5 matches and the umpire gave you a brand new ball after 37 overs. Were the overthrows off the back of Stokes' bat in the world cup final within the spirit of cricket? Hypocrites can't handle when the shoe is on the other foot. Brilliant team England, shame they've got fucking insufferable fans.

Very kind words from you my good man. Despite some of the bad press from media coverage, the crowds were really great and all with in the fun and love of the game. A miner few took things to far but the crowds were amazing as always. I know because I was among it all. Look forward to the next tour in India and some cricket in the carribean. Cheers

From getting from 6 sixes in an over to getting 600+ test wickets what an amazing career he has had. An absolute legend of the game 🐐happy retirement broady❤️
You entertained us through your whole career of 17 years. From the 6 sixes in an over to the 847 international wickets, being one of the greatest Test Bowler of all time, your journey will always be remembered. The six on the last ball he faced and the wicket on the final ball he bowled of his career on the decider of "The Ashes" in a winning cause are such great memories to have. Will miss your swinging deliveries!
Woakes and Wood totally changed the mentality of the English bowling line up after the 2nd test. Pure intensity with Broad as the icing on the cake. What an amazing Ashes Series it was... 🔥
@@shekharshirali8391 Leave the negativity aside my friend. Against the mighty Aussies 2 down and bouncing back to equal the series isn't that easy. England did well appriciate it and move on..🙂
As an Aussie fan I’m glad our lads show great respect to Broad, he’s been a thorn in our side for years but that shows what a great competitor and individual he is. Congratulations on a stellar career.
It was a fantastic series I wish England could put up a fight when we go to Australia but you guys just bury us on home soil. Maybe next time :) Fantastic Cricket, probably the best series I have ever seen. Congratulations on retaining the Ashes and being World Champions.
I agree that Ashes is AMAZING.....but imagine if there was an Ashes equivalent of India vs Pakistan...…just imagine if it did !! Never going to happen though :(
It was a vital spell by Moeen and a great effort when carrying an injury. Although it was super for Broad to take the last wicket I was wishing it to be Carey stumped Bairstow bowled Moeen.
Joyous, moment for Broady, but what made his final wicket so perfect, was the fact that the always brilliant Nasser Hussain was commentating. Two great English cricketing icons. Listening to the pair of them commentating together during the recent Eng/NZ one day series; just brilliant incite and humor from them both.
Broads' career ended in a truly magical way. He hit a six in his final delivery as a batsman and picked up the last wicket on his last ball as a bowler. Such a surreal moment is truly enchanting and seems to be a fitting finale to a remarkable career ♥️🔥👏
He also did the bails trick twice and with perfect results both times lol. Such a great character. I'll truly miss broad. Always made me smile and that's surely what it's all about. Certainly beats watching 9 from 82 balls.
Quite right, he finished with the asterisk he deserved, a callow act of desperation by England, outperformed, to get a new ball and have it do the work for them. After all that blathering bullshit about the spirit of cricket, you got a ball that would swing. You can't put the ball where you need it, you can't bowl a consistent, disciplined line and length, you just get a magic Duke that will swing late and unpredictably and the batsman gets out. Australians all deplored the sandpaper incident, which was 100% about getting access to the replacement balls. England, the first home of cricket cowardice under Jardine, has luxuriated in condescending to Australia since that time. Well, bitching about a ball which clearly had nothing wrong with it until the 11th time was a charm is nothing different. You were like the spoilt brats of the subcontinent demanding a wicket. It would have been infinitely preferable as a gentleman to have sustained a fighting loss against an opponent who turned up and outperformed you. Instead, you have a draw on the scoreboard and no guts, balls or spines to speak of. You've utterly forgotten what cricket is meant to be about, 5 minutes after lecturing everyone else. As an Australian I cannot stand the woke asylum the place has become and as far as I was concerned, Smith and Warner should have been banned for life. I had them pegged as morally equal to Hansie Cronje. But then came the revelations of England's two-year campaign to find the best lollies to apply to Kookaburras and Dukes. England is the reason food is banned on the field. Literally every other team cheats and tries to damage balls, they throw into the ground on purpose to scuff and soften them for spinners. India doctors wickets even to the point of obvious selective watering of pitch regions useful to their own bowlers. Australia was simply doing what everyone else did. England applied pressure to umpires, rather than sandpaper, to get undeserved benefit from a replacement ball. Can you imagine cricketers of the 1970s being asked to do that? What kind of woman are you that you can't handle losing while busting your gut? To me it's a fucking disgrace. You might as well try to find a clean cyclist as a respectable cricketer. Smith and Warner can still get fucked, but so can everyone else. Test cricket is about sportsmanship, and that's gone. Right now, England is the exemplar of that. If you had anything worth defending in terms of character, you'd be devastated at this episode. It would be a antional shame and your coach and captain would be fronting a press gaggle announcing resignations. But you pretend it's not a problem, because you yourself have no character. It's things like this that give me savage pleasure that your country is being overrun by savages and you're such pussies you sit there and tolerate cringeworthy lectures by your pudgy, useless police. There is no such thing as an Englishman any more.
To be honest, this is one of the best series I have watched. I love the brand of cricket England is playing, aggressive and entertaining!! New Indian fan of English Test cricket team, keep it up!!!
LEAVING LIKE A LION. Stuart Broad was a great bowler indeed. He will be remembered for serving his nation. Moreover, he is a kind-hearted person and a smart guy. Tribute from Pakistan 🇵🇰 God bless you, Broady.
Australia here. Fair play to England on never giving up and congratulations to Stuart Broad on a dream last game !! Class act as a bowler and a “lion” on the field. Can we all agree Cricket was the ultimate winner. Well done to all !!
It was a real clash of styles affair. I totally enjoyed it. Every test was close fought battle (ironically the one that wasn’t ended in a draw). England love to play and beat Australia, likewise in reverse. That’s what makes this series special.
Brit here from America, well said Aussie! I played club cricket to a good standard in England, good enough that our league would host young tourist players. You knew you had a tough game ahead when there was an Aussie in the team, hard working, competitive, aggressive, skillful, but played in the spirit of the great game of cricket. Not much in team sports to compare with a good Ashes series. Well played both teams! (Except for the shady stumpings or runouts, both teams, cut it out, you’re better than that). Respect to the Aussies for the send off to Broad. Thank you Chris Broad, great career, will enjoy RU-vid highlights for years to come, I’m sure there are players all over the World glad to see you hang up your boots, and bat!
And Australia was a moral loser with their behaviour and that runout on Bairstow. I'm an Aussie, and I can't stomach supporting them anymore after that, and their behaviour towards crowd members. They've lost the spirit they once had.
What a fitting end to Broady!! To play 5 consecutive tests for a fast bowler is incredible. What a Test series we have witnessed!! Thank you Australia👏🏻👏🏻 Thank you England👏🏻👏🏻
Stuart Broad's last spell was a testament to his talent. He got 2 wickets with great bowling skill. This bowler will always be remembered in Test cricket and I don't think any fast bowler will ever take 600 wickets again... Good 👋 Broady❤❤
Moeen Ali must not retire after such an amazing comeback. His contribution as an All rounder is outstanding. He has good record against India in India.👌👌👌
Moeen has the best bowling average in 2nd innings among all the active bowlers in the world. Even Lyon and Ashwin are behind him when it comes to 2nd innings.

What a way to end the most incredible Ashes Series! Easily the best one we’ve had since 2005. Twists and turns in every single game. 2-2 is a fair result considering how evenly matched these two sides were. This English summer has embodied everything that’s awesome about Test Cricket, it will always reign supreme. Watching this series has been like watching a cinematic blockbuster, a true masterpiece! Also, massive well done to Stuart Broad on an magnificent career. 150 Ashes Wickets and 600 Test Wickets is an extraordinary achievement. He has been picnic enemy No.1 in Australia for so long, but I have nothing but admiration and respect for him. The ultimate competitor, well done mate.
They were not evenly match. England was clearly stronger than Australia. England took one day to make that score in the second innings. Australia needed to take two days to make it . Also in the last test. England would have surely won but rain saved Australia. England clearly proved they are the best.
@@nigelcox5029 they took two days because there were delays of rain. You cant tell me the same result would have occured had Warner and Khawaja not had rain affect play yesterday. Momentum has been a huge factor for both sides in this game.
IT IS NO WHERE BEST MAN. WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? LAST ONE IN ENGLAND HAD MORE DRAMA. ENG SUCK IN AUSTRALIA. AND AUSTRALIA HAS NOT WON IN ENG FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS NOW. RAIN WASH THAT AND THIS. AUSSIES LOST MOMENTUM DUE TO INJURIES. IT WAS SOSO SERIES. NOTHING VERY SPECIAL. INDIA VS AUS WAS AWESOME!!! WHEN PANT DEMOLISHED EVERYONE!!!
As a Canadian, this is the first Ashes, in fact the first cricket series, I've ever taken interest in. And I'm so glad I did. What a series it was, the explosive start by the Australians in the first two tests, the drama dismissal, the drawn 4th test, and the roaring come back finish in the final test by England to tie the series in the end. If not for that drawn test, England would have taken the series for sure, they were the better team in the majority of the tests. Insane that I started this series not having any interest in cricket at all and now I've watched the whole series and can't wait for the 2025/26 edition.
If cricket is new for you then I suggest u watch some old series of 90s when Cricket had one of the best bowlers like Wasim Akram..Waqar Younis, Mc grath, Ambrose , Walsh who could destroy any team

@@DarrenLamb-on3pyofcourse people care even broad himself stated that it steeled him up to become a competitor I guess you are still really very frustrated that your favourite bowler or basically someone from your nation (making an assumption ofc) got hit for 6 sixes in an over The comment made by the person was only meant to glorify what broad did and everybody will always care including people like you who say nobody cares about that
@@DarrenLamb-on3py Lol. It was Six Sixes my friend. Not 3 or 4 in a row. And he was not a bowler like Yuvraj Singh who himself got spanked for 5 sixes in a row. The bowler of the caliber of Broad definitely cares. And I can bet Broad worked on it thereafter to become what he finished as. It could have broken him and a bad few series thereafter could have impacted his career. But to remain calm and collected after that debacle is sign of a great bowler. Well done, Broad.
Stuart Board has to be praised for his mental toughness and resilience shown !! What a bowler England had !! He could have easily been shadowed by James Anderson but he chose to carve out a name for himself. 600 wickets for a fast bowler is really no joke (even in country like England) and this guy chose every way to serve his country than to look for means to earn money. Huge respect, Boardy !! Best of luck for your future endeavours and thanks for a really inspiring career story.
The title of the video made me tear up! When I started watching cricket back in 2005, he had made his debut. Watching him today, his last day in International Cricket, but ever so brilliant, ever so fierce and to end it with the final wickets with an Ashes Test win. Ah! Ben Stokes worded it perfectly "It was written in the stars". Lots of love and best wishes from Pakistan ❤

England made a very grt comeback, when Woakes and Wood entered the team. Woakes and Wood made great comeback and showed brilliant performance with bat and ball which prevented England losing the rest of the matches after the first two matches. 🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏
Broad's final swansong ends with a victory and deservedly so. He has been a terrific ambassador for english cricket. In an age when players, both experienced and budding, are focusing exclusively on T20, this lanky pacer decided to dedicate his career to the longest, purest format of the game. An absolute legend.
I like that you pointed out how he stuck to the Test format when everyone is giving so much importance to the T20 format. To me, Test cricket will always remain the ultimate "Test" of patience, endurance, and deliverance. I remember the days when Broad and Anderson began their respective careers. No one would have thought they would collectively pocket over 1200 wickets (if I'm not wrong). England had other lethal pacers such as Andy Flintoff, Steve Harmison, Simon Jones, and Matthew Hoggard (don't remember if Broad had joined the squad then). While they may not have had the pace like Waqar and Wasim, their partnership should be acknowledged. So happy to witness these heroes during our time.
I think as long as we have the ashes to play that English players and spectators will always prefer tests. It's the purest form of the game and that's what it boils down to. It's a shame that T20 money is influencing the game as it is. Playing tests in other countries in empty stadiums is plain sad. Then seeing packed out stadiums in India to watch the 'warriors' play the 'lions' in a few overs of wam bam under floodlights. Oh its horrible. T20 is dreadful stuff. It will never be a thing here in England. We will drop the game altogether before we put T20 ahead of tests. And we are world champions in T20 and ODI. But neither really mean that much here. The 50 overs title was okish but only cause of the final itself and how close it was. But the T20 title? Personally speaking it meant literally nothing to me. Like all these ppl going on about when broad was basically a child and having a crap over in T20. Nobody here even cares about that. It doesn't even register. What a kid did in T20 is less than meaningless here yet so many go on about it as if it was some career defining moment. It's just so sad seeing so many cricketing nations putting more emphasis on limited overs rubbish. I really hope this T20 stuff does not dominate into the future. It really cheapens the game.
Whether the series is drawn but England has won our hearts in batting, bowling and great decisions by Stokes. Congratulations England!!!.🎉❤🎉 From Adnan🇵🇰🇵🇰🇵🇰
@@samexelby8715overall yes. He got a few things wrong. You could point to the declaration at Lords maybe but hindsight is 20/20 isn't it, and what if England had taken a couple of wickets late in the first day at Lords he would be hailed as a genius. Like he's said they have decided on the way they are going to play and they are sticking to it, and I'm fully behind that. It has revolutionised test cricket. It's great to watch and it's turned England around 360. So yeah I think his decision making, with what was available to him was spot on most of the time. Nobody is always right.
That dropped catch by Carey when Brook was on 5, who went on to 85 was a big moment in the game. Incredible series that deserved to end a draw. Well done to England and Australia for the best Ashes ever.
If they hadn't stupidly declared at Lords when Root was on fire at 118 not out off 152 they would've won the series. If rain hadn't saved the Aussies at Old Trafford it could've been a 4-1 sweep for the poms. England deserved to win, they were the better team with bat and ball.
