Great captures Pat, love them both! I found it very interesting that you were able to make comparisons between weather patterns and a supernova event. That’s really cool!
Thank you, Joe. I am STILL kicking myself for not saving that satellite image last week of the cold air bubble advecting into the SE US. It looked almost identical to the Jellyfish nebula. In both cases ... thermal dynamics at work
Hey Pat!! - Really great video my friend, I can't believe how mild your winter has been there, that's pretty incredible in itself! Each version of the image had it's own charm I must admit, but my favourite of them was the one taken with the 80mm, that extra emission down in the bottom right really gives it that extra oomph! Clear skies!!
Both fantastic shots Pat and great to see the difference between the two. I'm really impressed by the detail and colours in the broadband image and really like the wider field of view with the narrowband image, tough to pick between the two. Great video, really enjoyed watching
Really enjoyed the two images Pat both very stunning in there own way. That's the great part of this hobby the various focal lengths create so much interest in the shots. Really liked your wider image with all that red nebulosity.👍🎄
Top captures Pat, also an excellent comparison. I have only ever tried OSC on IC443 on my esprit 120 with very average results. Mate I was that impressed with your narrowband image. I went and changed my esprit 80 over to my narrowband setup. Such a cool looking nebula. Got clear skys coming my way in a couple of days with no moon, perfect . The jellyfish is in a perfect location as well should be able to capture at least 8 hours per night.
Hi Steve. I think your ESPRIT80 is similar (if no the same) as my Orion ED80T. I am amazed at the quality of this little scope. And yes, these long winter nights are great for astrophotography.
Very nice captures Pat. The Jellyfish nebula is such a cool target with all that intricate detail (bubbliness 😁). It's a little low in the sky here but after seeing your video, it makes we want to have a crack at this target again. And I'm guessing the weather forecast for the Jellyfish nebula is "windy" 😂
Thank you, Logan. Yes indeed, it is interesting. Looks like a giant explosion ... well ... that's what it is! How high at zenith does it get at your latitude?
Thank you "Unluckyness" ... I hope you will enjoy my videos from my backyard. I have a love for astronomy and nature and enjoy sharing my adventures here on RU-vid. Thank you for subscribing.
Thank you. njcck. for the Red I used half the value of the Ha and half the value of the S2 and just added them together in Pixel Math in Pixinsight. the Green channel was the S2 and the blue was O2
Hi Mark, Yes ... I KNOW!!! Upper 70s to around 80 in late December. I've only had two nights of frost here so far but no nights of sub-freezing weather. And it looks like this mild weather pattern will continue for another week If this keeps up, the bugs will be merciless come this summer. It hardly ever snows here in Savannah. I've been here since 1980 and only remember 3 snow events of an inch or more.
Best Pat A happy new year 2022 and many clear nights this I wish you because of Frank and his Family from rainy Belgium you probably don't know me very well, but I have been following you for quite some time I also do Astrophotography but do not have the time and patience to put this on a RU-vid channel you can watch my work on Astrobin and Telescopius under Frank Bogaerts.
@@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy Dear Pat We live a temperate maritime climate and normally it should be winter here there is talk for the coming days of +15 C - +59F which is therefore not normal and brings a lot of rain really wintering it has not been here for years; last year I was able to do almost nothing from the end of September to March 2021 I hope this is not the case again. Regards Frank.
Ha ha Paa. Yep, I have to work around them. We had a hurricane pass by in 2017 and it knocked out several but there are still more that I would like to see gone, but that is out of my control, unless they make a noiseless chainsaw with a night light ,,, ha
@@HeavenlyBackyardAstronomy LOL I get heated when I show a property with trees. Love them in a Forest, just not near my home. Keep up the good work man.
Hi Pat the wider field of view picture is much better 👍. I was wondering the way you built the extension shelf for the tripod leg i assume once you have setup you don't walk out there as it could cause vibrations ?? I see you are using the Baader oxygen filter and you said that you did not pick up much nebulosity with it, well i have seen several RU-vid videos with people saying the same thing and i recently seen a video explaining the reason, check out the link, have you seen this video? he gets the filter checked with a spectrometer and the results say that the filter is only passing a fraction of the oxygen wavelength and we have no way of checking this when we buy them. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VkSvpOLlD2Y.html
Hi Rob, Yes, I like to watch Cuiv, The Lazy Geek, and did see that video about the quality of the filters not meeting the quality of what is advertised. I still think that in my case though, that there just wasn't much blue light coming from that area, to begin with. I will take a peek at it with a blue filter and another O3 filter once the sky clears.
