This is an incredible presentation of the band. This is my first time seeing Trish performing. She was gone way too soon. She had the voice of an angel. Their music gives me a transcendental experience. May it live on forever. Rest in peace, Trish.
This band is the closest thing to a musical dream. Heard about them only a few months back from the Adam Franklin (Swervedriver) episode of "What's in My Bag". Been hooked ever since! Never recorded a bad or even mediocre song. This drummer has that "Ringolike" ability to "serve the song". And her voice and lyrics are stunning. I wish I found out about this band when this genius of a woman was alive. "Come On Let's Go" has to be one of the best songs ever written. Would make sense in 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999, 2009, 2019, 2029, etc. you get the picture.
I saw them in the early days right after EP2 came out. They opened for some indie band in Kentucky. Immediately it was clear they were a once in a lifetime situation, just incredible.
Saw Trish in her second last live show here in Australia. I got the t-shirt, but find it hard to listen to the vinyl. She did her last gig at the Meredith Music Festival and got infected on the flight home and died. I was gutted - I followed Broadcast from The Noise Made By People… I just expected they’d keep releasing brilliant album after brilliant album but that abruptly ended, I wish they never came to Australia. RIP Trish.
Just wonderful. Instantly loved these the first time I saw them. An enchanting mix of analogue sounds and Trish's haunting voice was just so bewitching. Thanks for posting this; "Come On Let's Go" is still one of my favourite songs.
Of course Trish is a haunted goddess with her childlike voice of a 1000 yo witch, but the band is so so good, every one of them, every part is a tiny polished jewel
Great performance, thanks for sharing it! I like how Trish's vocals are mixed: louder, brighter and more pronounced than on the album versions, I think it's a good choice
There will never be another band like this, nor with the deeply personal witchcraft of Cocteau Twins on Treasure. Music like Chord Simple, Winter Now and Ominous Cloud are too inward-looking for our times, which are whorishly committed to spectable above everything. I've said it before, but this band is so untroubled by appearance they look like the uncool kids at a high school somewhere. Yet their spellcasting is completely convincing
Je découvre des sensations merveilleuses en écoutant musique proche des high llamas ou stéréo lab , j"adore . Et ici musique aussi que je viens de découvrir dans le même esprit musical pré cité . FANTASTIQUE . NORBERT .
Listen to “Cloud Song” by The United States of America and “Unchanging Window” by Broadcast back to back. Trish Keenan and Dorothy Moskowitz are definitely spiritual siblings. I love them both.
@@RocknJazzer Maybe just go listen to The United States of America and realize they were the biggest influence on Broadcast, more so than Stereolab whose label they were signed to early on. It's more direct.
@@RocknJazzer I don't know even what you're talking about when you attribute sarcasm and irony to these two bands. I don't hear it at all. Especially not on Broadcast. If there's any truth to what you're saying honestly it's not a point of interest for me. Not to dismiss your point, but I don't have a frame of reference that aligns with what you're saying. If you're pointing to something that is there, I have never seen it and still don't The point is that the gulf is so wide between these two bands, and yes, I'm not shocked that journalists and fans compare the two, largely for marketing purposes (hey you like sterolab, you should like broadcast too and vice versa) It's apples to oranges. At a certain point, it's overly obvious that the two are fruit, but anyone serious about apples or oranges will know more about and spend more time discussing the differences, what sets it apart. They don't even sound like they are drawing from the same 60s influences at all. Speaking as someone who has listened to Stereolab and is unimpressed by what they do. There's something sorely lacking in them. I would call it loose, undisciplined music (crude words, I'm sure people have good reason for liking them, so keep that in mind). Broadcast, however, is very impressive and decisive to me.
You won't find it by yourself You're gonna need some help And you won't fail with me around Come on, let's go I will tell you if you change And who's been saying things It's hard to tell who is real in here Come on, let's go You know who to turn to, now everything's changed, come on, let's go Stop looking for answers in everyone's face, come on, let's go What's the point in wasting time On people that you'll never know? Come on, let's go When you're looking for a friend But it's empty at the end When everybody disappears You won't be alone If you want I'll compensate If you overestimate So there's nothing left to fear You won't be alone You know who to turn to, now everything's changed, come on, let's go Stop looking for answers in everyone's face, come on, let's go What's the point in wasting time On people that you'll never know? Come on, let's go You know who to turn to, now everything's changed, come on, let's go Stop looking for answers in everyone's face, come on, let's go What's the point in wasting time On people that you'll never know? When you know who to turn to, now everything's changed
Can someone please explain why people singing and playing instruments is called electronic music? What is considered not electronic music and why? Ditto Portishead etc. Yes there's sampling but its not the core of the music.
@@MM-hq2bd It seems then they are many genres including electronic as an influence. Primarily psychelelic pop, but I think neo folk would apply just as well
