Yes, our drama group usually performs in the high school/ community stage and hall. Silent backstage or they will hear you. The first time we did it on an actual stage was insane, you could talk laugh cry and no one would hear it. The mics were turned off on time. We had the speakers to tell us to go down instead of someone just yelling. Honestly high class stages are brilliant 😊
It's not a high school production is the main thing this comment section is forgetting. Backstage is like a whole building, not a room with curtain or two
Then there’s small school plays where the actors get told to always act like their mics are on and yet one still managed to swear while she was hot during the first run w/ mics. Hella funny for us crew though
it's literally just one of those rules told for when you're new to being mic'd up. Also broadway tech people have more training and therefore less likely to accidentally turn a mic on.
POV: You've only been or done high-school productions. We don't even do this college, we talk all we want. And Broadway? They have a whole ass basement.
You’re so real for this, I just acted in fame jr as joe Vegas and backstage was such a vibe, like we were dancing and then at one point I was whispering to someone and my mic turned on for like one second it was so funny lol
I feel bad for the entire cast, imagine how chaotic it would be sprinting and then almost slamming into Angelica and instead of saying sorry you have to yell “NO! SAY NO TO THIS”
Backstage at my junior shows are like as soon as you get back there someone says either “ STOP I ATE THAT UPPP” or “I MESSED UP A LINE NOW NO ONE KNOWS WHATS GOING ON”
Fr though when i saw that it came out i watched the whole thing and i told my parents i was sad that we couldn't go see it anyways few years later our calender says boston on it i said are you and dad going to boston for a day she said no she said close your eyes and pulled up our Hamilton tickets i didn't know why that was on her screen i screamed and said omg your taking me to go see Hamilton! Anyways it wasn't the same people but it still was awesome!❤
The cord as a mic 😂 also I was in my high school play and while I was crossing backstage my friend who was tech gave me a Swedish fish lol. I was ensemble so I didn’t have a mic though
