Stephanie always brings something new to the table in the roles she played! She delivered a Norma different from those who played the role previously

What was the biggest change/ how would you define her interpretation?
@amazingstarzz

@@odilejones9129I would say the way SJB attacks the notes is very unique. It’s more like speaking & singing at the same time, it feels very realistic and more raw.

Weekend trip to DC to see this wonderful woman. SJB was incredible and the audience was eating up every moment. Loved!! We were at the final Into The Woods on Broadway. If you have a chance to see her on tour in that amazing show… just do it. 😊

We were there on opening night & she deserved the standing ovation she received after singing this. Stephanie gave a Masterclass, she was absolutely fabulous

I"m seeing the closing performance on Wednesday. This had been my theatrical dream since she did the Boy from Oz.

You’ll love it - we saw it last night. They really knocked it out of the park - and we saw Glenn Close in LA when it opened.

@@deborahmahnken2188 that was there first time I saw it as well. Since the Broadway production closed in 97 I have traveled across the country to see as many Regional Productions of it as I can. Today 8 my favorite Norma Paula Scrofano. She was Norma Desmond in the very first Regional production of the show at the Marriott Theater in Illinois in 2004. Seeing Stephanie in the role has been my dream and it makes me feel fantastic hearing people like you talked about how incredible the show was

@@rebeccar8298 The show was pretty good. I could have done without the flashback of Norma being weighed by the studio during new ways to dream and some of the lyrics were changed for the sake of current political correctness, but nothing too major. Both Stephanie and Derrick were phenomenal. The woman who played Betty Schaffer with acceptable, and Nathan Gunn was a dream as Max. On a side note I may be in possession of an audio recording of the final performance

@@zanyhorseman Are we watching the same Video???? This is acted impeccably well and truest to the storyline I've seen this far. She's meant to play an old movie star who returns to her old career after a long time and is meant to portray the anxiousness and the glory that comes back with being back somewhere you've missed for so long. This is theatre in its highest form, ask the American Theatre Wing, they awarded her with a Tony award in 2019 so she must be doing something right...

A very nice version of the song, but I was honoured to see Glenn Close as Norma Desmond in London in 2016 at the ENO and her performance was astounding and something I will never forget. It's a shame the musical film version doesn't seem to be going ahead now.

I appreciate her talent (saw her in Wicked, 9 to 5, and Cher Show) but I don’t care for Block’s interpretation of this role. She has a very bold, brassy, loud, strong take on it. Norma is a very complex character… flawed, venerable, insecure, yet filled with pride and always stuck in her own head. Mrs Block is a Broadway belter… and IMO, that broad chest belting betrays the character’s fragility. I saw the original production, the National Tour and the more recent Broadway revival (concert staging) Close acted the heck out of it, Buckley sang the heck out of it…. Little known Star of the 1st National tour, Linda Balgord, was the perfect coupling of the two.

She sounds amazing but I can’t help but feel like her acting is way too broad. She doesn’t seem like a broken women who’s time has passed. Just a women who sounds amazing.
