Patina Miller was able to bring such stage presence and helped raised the voices of these talented singers on stage! If thats not a glorious experience, man I don't know what is. I'd be standing and clapping too!
ok I'm annoyed that audience didn't jump up and give them a standing ovation b/c this performance is literally AMAZING. Honestly I feel like some people don't take Sister Act as a musical seriously when it's actually really fuckin good... like from the book to the score it's all pretty fantastic.
I agree. This show had music written and created by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater - two big names in songwriting royalties. I'm floored by the vocal harmonies especially towards the end! So good!
The vocal power the ensemble(sisters) have in this number blows my head off. Absolutely amazing and congrats to Raven Symone! She will be amazing I hope
I saw this twice in London when it opened and the energy this song brings to the whole theater is amazing. SUCH a cool song! It has the spirit of sister act even though it's not in the film.
ouch110 Fragrance Reviews were doing this show for community theatre and it's very difficult. I have nothing but appreciation for these actors because this show is no joke.
Raise Your Voice is one of my favorite songs in the show! I saw Sister Act on tour three years ago and it was truly fabulous. Patina Miller is a showstopper
Before COVID I had been involved with a local community theater production of "SISTER ACT" as assistant stage manager. It was AWESOME to see this show take the stage and it was MORE AWESOME to see this Tony Award Performance!
This is really a tough role for an actress to perform 8 shows a week… so demanding… like Effie in Dreamgirls or Tina in the Tina Turner Musical. Patina is a BEAST. Loved her in Pippin!
Just saw this show, or a version, in Houston Texas, and what a show! The music is incredible. This show needs to return to broadway. What is Patina Miller up to now, what a voice and energy!
I love this show so much it brings tears to my eyes every time I listen to these songs. This was my favorite musical I’ve ever done, nothing can match my love for this. Even if I was a nun with a made up name and nobody could tell a difference from me and the others. I LOVE THIS SHOW
I am so sad this didn't get best musical but it's ok cause Book of Mormon won, which is also a musical that deserved it. This performance I'm not sure if they knew they weren't gonna win but I think Patina or someone in the cast gave a pep talk backstage before this performance and said, "We might win, we might not win. Let's just go out there and have fun." They definitely had more fun performing at the Tony's than the other performances that year and Sister Act will forever be one of my favorite shows because of that energy.
We peformed the show last week! It was such a delight!!! I played serveral roles such as Pablo and sang in our small choir consisting out of 3 of the best singers with limited text in the musical :D
I happened to see this show on the west end with Patina in her role and without any doubt in my mind, she not only was as good as Whoopi, she was better... I know, weird to think. She was amazing, energetic, sang like nothing else and devoured that role. She was brilliant and frankly should've just one every award that had ever existed
True story, I saw a local college production of this musical back in July. And I've gotta say, I loved it. Definitely makes me want to see the movie this musical was based on.
@italy4blktop It's a part of the Gloria prayer: "Laudamus te, benedicimus te, adoramus te, Glorificamus te!", translates into "We praise thee, we bless thee, we worship thee, we glorify thee."
Sutton Foster in Anything Goes and the entire original cast of the Book of Mormon. Even a miracle like Patina can't be expected to beat that. Patina may be a miracle. But Sutton is a goddess. I still love them both though. Besides, she got her Tony this year. She's good.
@@queerlibtardhippie9357 So? Hairspray was a non musical film that got remade as a Broadway show, then the Broadway show got made into its own film. I think Sister Act deserves the same because the stage version is excellent and different enough from the original movie to be worth adapting.
