The idea that drafting Bowers was redundant because of last years Michael Mayers pick is ridiculous. They might both play the TE position, but they will be used in entirely different ways. Mayers, the traditional TE and Bowers in the slot, outside, and HB positions

12 personnel is the scheme gardner (gard dawg) performs best in. You think our GM, coach & OC might be aware of this fact as well. If AOC wins the spot does it suck to have BROCK (insert WWE voice) Bowers as a safety valve for him. Put that dude at HB, FB, Wide out or end of the line. I was shocked initially until I thought about how the board shook out & watched his tape. EFF Florio!!!! Once a hater always a hater!!!!!

You can't get around the fact that our offense sucked last year, and we were averaging 17pts/game before firing "the Guru" and OC. Even after that, we struggled to score, and epic defensive efforts were wasted by an offense stuck in neutral. Why so many people, Raider fans included, got so butt hurt that we didn't trade up (which requires cooperation from another team, and comes at a price) and pick a QB, but still ended up with one of the top 5 players in the draft is ridiculous. And if Atlanta doesn't pick Penix, this discussion doesn't happen, so stop pretending that the Raiders "passed on a QB".

Considering Raiders needed another receiver, Mayer had issues staying healthy but also plays as a traditional TE, Bowers will be a completely new dynamic for the offense. Not to mention he’s a decent blocker who can help in 12 personnel if need be. Can’t wait for the season and we got so much time!!

As someone who played DE and OLB, and coaches… I see a lot of challenges with Brock lined up across from me/ my guys. Too fast/quick for most of us to cover, stronger than any DB, catches very well, RAC is wild, football IQ is high, dawg… all the TEs u mentioned did certain things great but not all, this Bowers kid does it all very good.

Another reason Bowers is such a good fit is that, since the Raiders missed out on long-ball Penix, cater to the strengths of their two signed QB's- short to mid-range targets with great hands and who get OPEN quickly.

Bowers is a top ten pick pre draft until the Raiders got him and made it “questionable” Got it. lol And I doubt the front office ran around with their heads cut off, hard to believe an entire scouting dept with months to prep didn’t envision a scenario of Penix and Daniels not being available. At my job we have 2000 ppl and 2 schedulers making a WEEKLY schedule…just for some perspective. I feel football ppl who only know sports overcomplicate normal ppl shit. 😂

Don’t listen to this clown. Brock Bowers played in 2 Tight End personnel at Ga about 95% of the time Ga schemed him open because teams had to much to cover. Brock was H back , slot traditional TE hell Ga even ran Brock on reverses. Raiders got a straight up Baller! And he back with his Boy “ Zeus” AKA Zamir White, they won a Championship together! Raiders didn’t draft a QB this draft because by the time we got to the 13th pick there wasn’t a QB available who’s better then AOC or Minshew why waist a draft pick on a 3rd string QB when you can get a top player? I wanted top DB available but I’m happy that we didn’t draft the 7th QB or 4th Wr or 4th OL. We got the 1st TE and he’s a Dawg. He makes the team better week 1

LLook I'm not the biggest Telesco fan, but that's the worst possible argument. The GM's job is to get talent. The coaches job is to make it work. And the chargers job is to ruin talent. They've had multiple HoF caliber Qb's win 0 superbowls. They once had the number one offense and defense in the NFL (at least in yards) and missed the playoffs. Usually getting at least one is a guarentee. They once went 12-5, made the offs, and Tom Brady threw three picks. And they lost. And then it happened again. Two years in a row. They've had an all pro kicker make playoff losing kicks. They continually produce talented rosters, and consistently underperform.

Are you all insane? Look no TE is a day one starter and kicks ass. They all need to transition and take 1-2 years to truly develop. Also Bowers is only 6'3" compared to true TE's who are 6'5" and out way Bowers by 30 to 40 pounds. He is not a Kelcy. or Kittle. He is a WR who play's TE. No matter how you try to sugar coat this it was a stupid pick when you have no franchise QB to throw to him. The propaganda they try to put on this dumb pick is crazy. How much were they paid to make this crap up. Look this guy will demand top dollar from day one without ever earning it simply because of his draft position. He will demand Kelcy money on his first resigning if he makes it that far. Stupid pick when you have no QB. Minshew and O'Connell are backups on 31 other teams. Just saying AP got screwed by other teams. No one would trade with us. That and for some reason Mark Davis thought AP would do well with a failed and fired GM and OC. That and we have no real starting QB. Seems like AP is being set up to fail, or we are going to tank this year so we do not have to trade up to get a QB next year. If we are tanking then building towards the future makes sense. Then this pick would make a little more sense. But the fact everyone is trying to make this pick seem reasonable just shows how powerful the NFL propaganda machine really is.
