One thing to note is that this album is more melancholy, softer than any of their previous albums. It will be interesting how you react to their previous albums, which full of bangers.

On dearly departed the members where mostly rapping about Ameer. A former member who was kicked from the group due to sexual misconduct. Ameer also set up one of Dom's friends to be robbed that's why Dom sounded way more aggresive than the other members on this track. Just wanted to let you know😉

3:44 I said the same thing when I first heard Sugar. It sounds like they went to 2000/2001 on this one.

It's interesting when you say that this album doesn't sound like they want to be different, it doesn't sound intentional. In recent interviews they said that in this album they knew exactly what they wanted to do and what they wanted to sound like, so everything they did on Ginger was absolutely intentional. They said that Saturation trilogy was way more experimental and had a lot of happy accidents. But I get what you're saying, even in the early projects as in the new one, Brockhampton members are just being themselves, they're not even trying to be different.

on victor roberts the guy rapping (victor roberts) is a friend of the guys and they wanted to let him get his story out there and wanted to promote him !

big boy is about literally the exact opposite lol. It's about how people (and in specific, men- "big boys") are expected suppress their emotions and pretend they don't exist, or put on a mask projecting to others like they don't. It criticizes this way of thinking, as the entire album is about confiding in others and finding comfort in grief- by sharing with and relating to others in the same position. It's about opening up and discussing how you feel, not shutting it out and growing up like a "big boy"

They have three producers; Romil, Jabari, and Kiko, and they're all skilled as fuck. And Victor Roberts is a good friend of Dom's. He's been writing and hustling for years, but never got to focus on his music because of family circumstances. The boys spoke all about how they got him on the song during their Ginger Radio sessions, and it's a really emotional story. Also to add to the conversation, I kind of had a different takeaway from Big Boy, because Kevin Abstract has said that the lines "Don't pout around me, don't cry around me, don't laugh around me..." were all things that he was told by a lot of the older men in his life and how he's constantly been working since then to de-condition himself of that way of thinking. Looking at that and how and Joba rapped on his verse, "I'm weak and I'll say it proud," a major theme I took from the lyrics was them tackling toxic masculinity and saying it's okay to talk about your feelings, that it's alright to not be okay all the time, and that the idea of what it means to be a "big boy," which they were taught in their childhood, is really all bullshit.
