I heard one Shauf song (The Magician) on the radio and was an instant fan. Went home, listened to The Party and I haven't listened to any other artist with nearly the same frequency since.
I have seen every single live mix and performance of Andy's there is on youtube and this is hands down without a doubt the best one. Well fucking done to the whole team.. damn.
I couldn't agree more, it is so hard to get solid live sound in these types of video without it either sounding too much like the studio version or not professional enough. Videography was fantastic too!
OMG the drummer…reminds me of Joni Mitchell Mingus…wow..Andy’s lyrics and phrasing…another wow…1st rate musicianship all around and audio/mix/video…sublime…saw Andy open for Case/Lang/Veirs in Victoria, BC years ago…had no idea then what a huge talent he is.
It was like that when I saw him live in DC, too. It's unbelievable how good their live mixing is, consistently, and how insanely rock solid/consistent they are as performers. Truly wild stuff, all the praise in the world is deserved
We can always congratulate talents in front of the camera who give us their wonderful performance. But I want to congratulate the team who does the best job to make artists shine! Amazing video and sound !
It is criminal that this took 7 months to get into my feed. This is gorgeous music. No oart of this isnt snug and tight, luscious. Instant save to fav.😍
Halloween store has such a strange but interesting momentum to it. The vocal phrasing gives it this stumbling, almost anxiety inducing feeling to me. I like how subtly creative and nuanced Andy's music is. It's very well composed, so it can seem deceptively simple on surface listens, but there's a kaleidoscope of small touches that are just executed perfectly, which is a testament to the caliber of musicians he surrounds himself with. This mix in particular showcases that beautifully. Thank you to the whole team involved, especially the mixers, sound engineers, and audio mastering engineer! Great Job!
Hello! What you say is very true, after listening several times, you begin to realize the thousands of details that each song, each part has. I would even say that, at first listen, there are songs that I didn't like on Norm, but given the deserved time, I love the whole album. Greetings from Chile
Makes it easier to see him live so got to take the positives, I seen him in Manchester last year and he was incredible around 150 people perfect for his style of music
@@Gfls00 I agree! Saw him in Leeds for like 20 pounds a ticket? Never got to see him back home in the states or Canada so was super happy he came through.
@@reddvsbluee22 I saw him first in the states at a small club in San Diego called The Belly Up, then went to visit Family in London and saw him at 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire on the same tour. He’s just amazing, my favorite songwriter.
I don't know how many times I've already watched this video already. It's kind of flawless - I mean I'm not an audio engineer but each song is so balanced. You can really feel the space they are in. Each song is magical - (ignoring the context of the creepy but fantastic lyrics). The setting is a super interesting. These Brodie Sessions are great, but this video is a standout.
Andy Shauf is getting so damn good that he’s starting to give Joni Mitchell vibes. This level of creativity and songwriting will get better and better as he surrounds himself more and more with professionals who are capable of nailing his sound
This band are flawless. The songwriting is incredibly rewarding. Also, lovely videography and audio engineering! Very rewarding and lovely video, thank you so much for making the effort.
Oh, Andy Shauf. Always concocting these quite literally dreamy sounds. Can't wait to see you guys live again. Loved seeing you in Houston. Next time, the crowd will be bigger! Thank you guys for going there. It gave me the opportunity to hear those dreamy sounds live for the first but not last time.
Follow up! I flew to salt lake city and got to see him solo at Kilby! My word, guy is just oozing with talent. What a gift to be alive in the same era.
This sounds so fucking great. Unbelievable performance, to say nothing of the engineering and mix. This needs more attention and I sure hope we get to hear the rest of the album from this session
Everything fits. Andy’s genius music lays the foundation for stellar cinematography, engineering, editing etc. the immense work y’all put in is not lost on us good kob
As a monumental achievement in recording as “The Party” stands, it’s AMAZING that upon countless relistens…I think Norm is shaping out to be his crown jewel. It’s sonically a masterclass of contrasting dynamism with hauntingly dark lyricism. Let’s also throw in that he outdid himself diversifying the album’s track list against a tricky concept. Lastly, I’ll die on the hill that “don’t let it get to you” is a shimmering example that Andy can and does sway away from random third person narratives expertly when he chooses.
Huge fan of Andy. Disappointed to see him wearing a Shell cap - one of the deadliest companies in the world. Would personally buy him a parody “Hell” one from Darren Cullen if he wants 😂
