I’ve worked for several farmers over the years and they always seem to disappear when there’s any physical labor needed. Not at Larson farms, they are the first ones to get in there and do the work. Way to lead by example! Keep up the amazing content everyone!

Have a class on the man lift!!!!! Make sure that if you are operating close to an over head object that someone is on the ground knows without delay how to take control of the unit. When you are at the top of your lift, where you want to work, LOCK OUT THE UP COMMAND. You do not want the lift to get a notch in its belt like one I worked with. The Person was working under a beam when he leaned over the side and moved the up switch. The lift pinched him between the side rail and the beam. NO one on the ground knew how to switch control. We had class every time we worked close to an overhead structure.

may I suggest to you all, keep a maintenance logbook for piece of equipment. So when you guys are working on multiple pieces of equipment at one time, you're not flipping back and forth on one book. Also when you sale a piece of equipment its easy to sale and could add more value, because of all maintenance records are kept. If you really go nuts get some digital tablets with maintenance manuals loaded for the equipment, then when you sell print records, and keep tablet for replacement equipment. You can set the tablets up for all kinds of inspections and maintenance issues as well as trends of inferior parts breaking too often. It does take time to set them up, but when its done I believe you're going to love it.

You can mount the pump on the truck that you use to pull the trailer the most. That way it won't block any of the trailer bed.
@henkoosterhof5947
@henkoosterhof5947 4 месяца назад
But than you have to connect the hoses, lift the trailer, disconnect the 5th wheel, put the truck close to the trailer to connect the hoses and lower the ramp. Then you decide if you want the truck close while loading. 7 things you have to do for loading or unloading.

Why not paint a line on the floor. Then when your backing equipment over the pit, you can line against/along it. Not having to worry about dropping into the pit.

On normal trailers that would work, but with the side extensions on the lowbed you wouldn't be able to see the lines anyway.

Chet tell Brody to watch his power washing hoses, or he might hit that switch below. True story, myself and 3 other workers were on top of a 6 by 14 scissor lift, and one of our chords hit the up switch and overrode our controls, which almost pushed us through the ceiling. I was starting to scramble over the edge when the electrician ran over and hit the switch luckily. Good times...
@tsparky236
@tsparky236 4 месяца назад
My advise from having the same situation? Make it so you can put it on any truck and use it that way. If you put it on the back of the trailer and you blow out a tire? You will have nothing then. We just made it so you can put on any truck and it makes it more useable. Hope tha helps? Thannks
@kennethmaiforth6460
@kennethmaiforth6460 4 месяца назад
if you mount pump on trailer put it in a gang box across tail to prevent theft ,extra room can be used for storing chains and holddowns ,simply put excavator bucket on goose neck when traveling, or fabricate box with angle iron sheetmetal and wire screen for venting. 3 rd option buy new lowboy and cancel sharpies order to pay for it lol
@ksfixitmangaming617
@ksfixitmangaming617 4 месяца назад
Yes mount it on the truck. Much better idea and way less work and smarter place to put it. You could even make a mount for it and make it portable to go on any of your trucks if needed. Thanks for the video.
@thelunatick1993
@thelunatick1993 4 месяца назад
One step further. Mount so you can remove it from the truck so only exposed to weather when needed. Think a forklift slots for a base.
@ajmages
@ajmages 4 месяца назад
Then why not just put a wet kit on the truck. The reason they are going with this set up is so any truck they have can pull it and it's not limited to one
@ksfixitmangaming617
@ksfixitmangaming617 4 месяца назад
@@ajmages Mounting it on the rear of the trailer will be very hard on it. The roads will beat it to death. There is a reason there is no wet kit on that trailer. If they want to do it the correct way is buy the correct trailer. A detachable one and then one person can do the job.
@thelunatick1993
@thelunatick1993 4 месяца назад
@@ajmages but it is also limiting. Depending upon placement and its mounting the deck is no longer fully available. Storage of this trailer. Does it merit space in a shed before. Will it now with this on board Could this hydraulic equipment be used elsewhere and for other tasks. Be nice but is doubtful that Chet waited for comments before proceeding with this project. Could always do it twice.

You should take the new pump apart and make a box for it to fit in. Under the trailer in the space closet to the deck by the brake chambers for the first axle. It looks like enough space to put a shelf to hold the box. You should measure the space and see. From the top of the trailer cut an opening to start and access the pump.

Growing up my dad ran 4 Asphalt plants and 6 cement plants . as well as a lanf leveling compny that did lots of road building . between it all we had over 400 peices of equipment . We started out like you are now but we found out it was much easier to give each one it's own book . Also if and whe we sold that piece of equipment the book went with ir so the new owners could see what had been done to it over the years ...Dad was very proud of the system I went too.. Good Luck ..

A hint on the boat issue. Aluminum or composite props will break when hitting rocks or lake bottom. Aluminum props can be rebuilt even when missing an arm. Leg damage is nil. That stainless prop that bent means you whacked something hard. Stainless gives you top speed but doesn’t give. I guess it depends what you are doing with the boat. It’s a pontoon so if top speed is the goal, you have the wrong boat. Just sayin. I’m speaking from experience as a 30 year boat owner.

Suggestion….the lower unit is touchy going back in and doing it on a tilted motor is more touchy. Going back on….back it over the pit so you can go straight up with it. It will need to be set to same gear as boat control cable or you will be doing taking it off and on (don’t ask). Shouldn’t be any wear point on the shaft other than gear threads at top. If splines are good and greased and not bent, go for it. Change impeller (water pick up) while off. I would thing they have some plastic covers for the electronics you can get along with a skirt cover….i have no idea, but would think they make em.
