Despite the technical difficulties you were experiencing Pope, lol, you still got right into this amazing performance by one of the best rock bands ever, Deep Purple. Richie Blackmore man, just one of the best. Your reaction videos are always fun and cool to watch...this one's in the top three! You should definitely react to more of this band. "Fireball", "Black Knight" are just two of the early 70's singles and then there's even earlier ones called, "Why Didn't Rosemary" and "Wring that Neck", the latter of which may be part of this concert, though I'm not sure. Peace.
That was one of the best reactions to anything I have ever seen! And part of it was your own camera going AWOL, like it was losing it's mind! Deep Purple are a force of nature, particularly with this early 70s line up. You didn't know whether to be shocked or laugh your ass off. So you did both which was awesome! I will see if I can find the other one you mentioned from New York. I have subbed man!
A studied improvisation that was later used and improved upon at the end of "Space Truckin", "Mandrake Root" being a song from the first Deep Purple line-up.
Have to say.. kudos to you man... Stumbled on you looking for reactions to my all time favorite band, Deep Purple... You've done most of their classic tunes... and a few more obscure tracks like Rat Bat Blue and this!! Thank you man and if you want some suggestions I have a TON!!!
My dad was in the Navy and Commanding Officer of a Navy installation at an Air Force Base. He was sitting in his office and saw a huge purple plane landing on the runway outside his office window. He laughed and remembered that I had tickets to see Deep Purple that night in concert. I think it was 1974 and I was 18. Well, their equipment collapsed the stage, and they cancelled the concert. Bummer! I did see them in 2017 when my son took me for my birthday!
The concert wasn’t canceled that was the end of purples set California jam, 1974 Black Sabbath also performed . ELP came on at midnight about two hours late. .
California Jam 1974 where Ritchie Blackmore wrecked Havoc. Busting up an ABC television camera by putting his stratocaster's neck through the lense(something like that) and having his Marhall stacks blowing up. All this while eluding authorities in a helicopter. Legendary imho.
Hey Pope, thanks for putting this up, never seen this performance, Blackmore was my guitar idol in the 70's and I still can't play "Pictures of home" properly. Deep Purple forever!
If you think that this video is WILD wait till you see the Richie Blackmore Incident at the end of the California Jam (1974) where Richie literally BLEW-UP The Stage. Don't just watch the video, read the notes about the concert.
Thanks for that. I've neeeever seen this concert since i've born, and that's 1961. Greatings to you from ibach-schwyz, victorinox manifactary country, you guess wright, switzerland. Bye
@@IshadaKatzteilov The clue to what I meant was in the word "inspired". Also I did say is it only me? I was meaning the Hammond organ played by both Jon Lord & Ray Manzarek. I bet if my life depended on it & I had to choose. I'd say you are a Deep Purple fan. Lighten up. Peace out.
@@IshadaKatzteilov really? Nothing stood out. I couldn't pick anything up in your message about your true feelings regarding the Doors. Lo! We all have reactions to either certain bands or artists. Or particular songs. There are 2 songs that have a really negative response from me. All part of musics large tapestry. Peace out.
Just heard Yes new song, "Mirror of The Sky" from their new album, "Mirror in The Sky," it is a great song...not as great as their 70's Masterpieces....but really good....there is no Jon Anderson due to illness or Chris Squire due to death or Alan White or Rick Wakeman, but Steve Howe is on this album and a lot of talented musicians that give you that Yes signature quality!!! Check it out!!! It is Fire!!!
No he doesn’t. There’s a video from a couple of years after this performance and you can see the body literally has a crack in it. He demolished it on that particular tour.
Very impressive but Ritchie Blackmore's guitar theatrics were after Jimi Hendrix had already trodden that path so feel a bit copycat to me (check out Jimi Hendrix Experience at Monterey in 1967), that said not many guitarists could do this to strat (intentional mistake) with!
According to Pete, Hendrix didn’t COPY Pete entirely, but did enough of what Townshend did…although the burning of the Strat was something nobody saw coming.
