I know the "Brokeback Mountain" film has two straight actors portraying Gay/Bisexual Cowboys (these guys are not sheepherders as portrayed) herding sheep in the mountainous part of Wyoming. I knew a several dozens of gay guys like this and the up-tight portrayal of straight actors does portray gay rural men in the Upper Rockies, Greater Northwest in the 1970's and 80's. As someone of that generation and grew up in that area, being from a ranching family, these actors really portrayed the up-tightness, hang-ups and trauma of that culture I grew up in. Bless those of us who survived that nightmare and, sadly all those of us who died, including Mathew Sheppard, crucified on a jack-leg-fence outside of Larime. Pease bless Mathew, and all the other gay cowboys who died because of their sexuality.
