I agree. I was originally rooting for Carmel to win (hint: I'm from Indiana) but then I saw this video and well, they deserved to win. This is now one of my favorite high school shows of all time.
Broken Arrow, yet again you amazed me. Coming from a small non competitive band (even though I want to be in a competitive band), I eat my heart when I see bands like this. I wish I was in a band with so much dedication and respect. A job well done. You guys should all be very proud of yourselvs! Go BA!!!
I'm glad I got to see this show at Pasadena Bandfest. If Bandfest were a competition, they would have easily won. Best show I've ever seen, and I've seen many of them.
my brother is in the pit i cried when he came home from indianapolis!!!!!!! he did so good it was a bummer that they didnt win. CURSES ON JUDGE 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had Music Performance Individual judge (aka Music 1 or MPI) not screwed them over, they would have one. The 2 music scores show 2 totally different shows, Music 1 was a 17.50 and music 2 was a 19.40. Crazy.
I know of a band that's either slightly bigger or about the same size as this one. The color guard is a lot bigger than this as well. No one ever records their shows though. :( But this is still one of my favorite marching shows of all time.
The reason they didn't win is because at the beginning they did the most amazing hit in any marching band show, but because it was so amazing it made the rest of the show boring musically. nothing in the rest of there show musically compared to that hit in the beginning. As apposed to Carmel who consistently gave an interesting musical performance throughout there show. plus they were so focused on setting there show around there props that the drill wasn't as exciting as Carmels.
Haha, yeah. I see your point. But I do think Carmel deserved to win. Their show was first and foremost about the music---paired with a very well-executed visual package and general effect. BA puts effect first, in my opinion, and this year it wasn't quite enough. It's gotta be about the music first.
Wow... amazing how much they improved balance between sections in a week before BOA. This performance was "sloppy". And notice I say sloppy in quotes... but compared to their astounding BOA performance, this sounds a little off-kilter.
