Repairing this Epiphone headstock break and hand drawing the wood grain to make it as invisible as possible. For any bussiness inquiries: tonguitarworkshop@gmail.com Website: ton.si/en.html
Actually not true, I broke a Gibson Les Paul and Tom himself fixed it, and was flawless. It was all for free, and was signed and brought to a meeting to show people how the work is done.
That is a fantastic repair job. I've not seen a neck repair done this way before. The care and attention to detail in hand-painting the grain to help it blend in is a nice touch.
"Hand drawing the wood grain" holy moley...way above and beyond. Most excellent work.👍 Everyone that I know whose had a headstock/neck joint repaired has said the guitar plays and sounds better for it. Itd be nice if Gibson/Epiphone offered scarfed necks options from the factory.
Thanks! Well the joint is much stronger after repair but I don’t know if that effects the playability or not, maybe it’s in the finish job and the hand slides smoother on the neck.
Perfect you accept anyone sending you work I have a 64 Epiphone Olympic like a Gibson Melanie maker single pickup headstock broke off unfortunately my tech is old and he's going through medical problems can't finish my guitar.
Of course we accept all guitar repairs! We are located in Slovenia, so maybe check if you live near cause if you live abroad (like USA) the shipping costs could be too much, up to you. Send an email to tonguitarworkshop@gmail.com and we can talk more in detail.
Necks on these thing should be considered disposable like strings. Amazing near invisible repair. I have watched many, many of these kinds of jobs, never one quite like this one. Kudos. ps Necks on these thing should be considered disposable like strings.
Brilliant repair blending air brush work 👍 The unfortunate thing with Les Paul’s & Epiphone’s are the neck angle to great having these issues & hopefully head stock don’t break again! My idea on top yours is to remove fretboard & route out for rectangular titanium rods each side truss rod deep enough to go under nut through into head stock as much as possible, bit of a job but only way I can think of. I’m making Les Paul soon but with titanium rods & only less degrees head stock angle plus better action like a Telecaster plus other areas Gibson could have improved on. Pick ups I love best on the sound of Les Paul
I have a question regarding the thrusroad, did you sand over it and got a bit of it as well and then put glue inside'? im just confused, I mean looks great, but arent you compromising the thrusroad? thanks
It seems to me that tests of resistance of glue joint show that it is stronger to have smooth surfaces with vinilyc contrary to animal' sourced glue from bones or tendons.
Is the glue applied so sparingly that locking the truss rod in place is never an issue with neck repairs? Ive seen a lot of these videos, and ive always wondered if you guys put a releasing agent on the rod or if it just breaks loose when you give it adjustment.
I watched this video yesterday and it had several complimentary comments in it. What happened? It looks like the old one was deleted in this one replaced it. Either way great video!
Unfortunately I received a copyright claim on it (and another video as well) even though I used a licensed copyright free music, so instead of disputing it and risking receiving a channel strike I’ve decided to re-upload it without the music so now you can only hear the sounds of the workshop (asmr).
@@TON-guitarworkshop Honestly, IMO the sounds of the workshop are way better than music, anyway. FYI, there is copyright and royalty free music avail. for YT videos if you would like music on your vids.

They are using mahogany which can barely withstand the force of the strings so a slight bump to the headstock break the neck. In this case the guitar fell down on stage so I think it would break no matter the type of wood but to answer your question, yes maple is much stronger and more stable for necks and the break angle on the headstock on gibson versus fender guitars is bigger so that that doesn’t help them either.
