I’ve had my PO for close to 7 years. I’ve been through hell and back with the watch and have experienced ZERO problems. Still keeps perfect time and looks flawless. These watches are built likea tank.

Great video. I bought my second generation PO with the 8500 movement and 42 mm case back in 2016, preowned. It has been super accurate and very robust. It is my first chronometer and luxury watch and I doubt I'll ever part with it; it'll go to my son one day. Good to know about the service prices from Omega. It's about that time. And I will be getting it polished!

You have to hear my Omega story. I bought my wife an Omega Constellation from Omega for her birthday and had them size it. When I gave it to her it was a little snug. Come to find out the watch doesn’t include the extra links. I called customer support and got shuffled from sales who told me they would provide 4 links for free and then shuffled to parts and service with about an hour on hold. They then explained that I would have to pay and I had hoped to get them asap and opted for 2 day shipping which still didn’t get here in time for my Wife’s trip. $175 and here’s the kicker. Today I got another invoice because they shipped the half link separately and later with another $50 for shipping and $50 for the half link. I’ve had crappie service in my lifetime but this is the apex of hideousness!

Wow. That’s pretty shocking service. They give the option to size the watch on their website site but dont include the removed links….not good.

I’m wondering if you had left the helium escape valve loose at some point allowing water in. Also the moisture has caused issues with the quick set and keyless works. Of you ever notice moisture on the inside again always take it to a watchmaker and ask them to remove the back to allow the movement to dry as quickly as possible. The steel parts can literally rust within hours s of coming in to contact with moisture. I suspect they will use the helium valve loose to void the warranty, I hope not.Hope it’s all gone well

Mate, go to Newark on an horology course for a few days. £800 for a self servicing/mechanical in-depth lesson. 800 is a lot. But think of the money you’d save on service costs🤔✌🏻

This hurts, especially because I have the same watch. I would agree that they probably screwed up the seals while regulating the watch back on September. Do u have proof from the warranty service/regulation that they pressure tested it ? They can remove the anti reflective coating from the crystal or replace the crystal. The AR will come off the outer side over time anyhow. It will be really interesting to see if the servicecenter is calling it user error or not. Humidity comes into the watch, the winding issue and the hour setting problems sound like you hit the watch on the crown. But its a screw down crow to avoid the "hit on the crown issue". I'm looking forward to Omegas explanation issue.

When I received the watch back last year, there was no information as to what they had done. They give you a service log in to check progress, but nothing was filled in. Makes you wonder. In terms of the bashing the watch, the incident I refer to was just weeks into ownership I put some cloths into a recycling bin. On pulling my hand out, the metal flap rubbed the top of the crystal. I was surprised how little it had marked, but I know it’s there. I’ll let the, advise the best action on repair / replacement. Otherwise, I’ve hardly worn it since the summer, so your guess is as good as mine in terms of the faults. Does point back to the service in my eye.

Thank you for the insights... very much appreciated... Same here.. I am planning to buy a brand new Aqua Terra at an official Omega store, but that AR layer on the outside is indeed problematic. I want an 'everyday watch' which means occasionally it does need to take a certain amount of accidental beating. End of story. That's a must for a men's watch. Anyhow.. thanks again... I will decide...

This happened to me with my Tudor Pepsi GMT after it went back to Rolex for a movement swap. I sent it back immediately for it to be fixed and thankfully it was covered by warranty. I certainly didn’t leave my crown unwound as I’m a very particular person. I was never given a reason why it had moisture inside.
@RootBeerGMT

Hint: Tudor blows. They have no place in history other than being the low end of the gene 🧬 pool cousin of Rolex. If you cannot get the Rolex you want, at the very least buy an Omega.

Try Breitling! I bought a B2 in 2002, first service after 2 years as it stopped totally. The watch came back with the bezel jammed, the dealer sent it back to Breitling who sent a patronising email saying it hadn’t been cleaned or looked after. The dealer reminded them it had come from service in that state. They cleaned and repaired for free (I’d already paid the £1000 service cost.) the watch averaged 18 months between services (£1000-1500 each) eventually, by chance I met the boss of Breitling UK and let rip, he took the serial number and promised an investigation when it was next serviced. A few months later it stopped and wouldn’t wind so off to the workshop. Breitling changed the whole movement free of charge due to original manufacturing errors, polished the case and sent it back. Four years later it’s still performs perfectly, I’m no longer angry and disappointed but I still spent nearly £9000 on spurious services. God knows how much it’ll cost next time as due to age the service cost goes up by 50%.

Too many stories of OEM service issues. They need to man up and train up as this should be part of the whole experience. Working in the auto industry, I know how these small issues massively affect customer loyalty. Glad yours was sorted in the end. These amazing watches are not to be blamed.

I sent a Breitling Aerospace via the dealer to Breitling for a battery change. Yeah I’m mad. They contacted me saying the digital movement needed an overhaul and were asking £450. I declined and got the watch back where a local dealer replaced the battery for £25 with a pressure test. Everything fine. I’d much rather run a watch into the ground and just enjoy it putting all of these running costs into a brand new piece. The money involved in sending your watch back to the manufacturer is ridiculous. Unless, of course, something goes drastically wrong and the potential resale is high, but we’re talking Rolex territory. Neither of my Rolex watches are going anywhere near the service centre for a decade plus.

I know I’m replying to a two year old thread, but being charged £450 to have a quartz movement serviced is ridiculous to say the very least, and no wonder you rightfully declined. I have a Grand Seiko 9F quartz, that would need its first service after 50yrs!!!! Apart from battery changes, it’s fair to say the watch will out live me, and is built to last.

I just purchased a new Speedmaster '57 with the new 9906 movement. I put the watch on this morning and it was running fine. At 11:04 this morning it stopped running full stop. I thought because it was a manual wind movement that it ran out of juice. After 3 turns of the crown, it had resistance meaning it was fully wound. The watch is two days old and it's pretty disappointing. I'm taking the watch to my AD to have it sent to Omega for service. Hopefully it's resolved ASAP as I love the watch. Gotta realize there is a failure rate with everything out there...cars, electronics, watches, etc. Just giving my experience as I've never had an issue with the 5 Omegas I've owned in the past.

I bought a 18kt gold breitling chronmat many years ago , it stopped working so I sent it to breitling for a service I had a bill for £2300 and an extra £3000 if I wanted it refurbished and a new case back because of a small dent , sold it and a friend was selling his white gold Daytona as I say with the F1 dial I didn’t really like it but at the right price , excellent, now it’s to expensive to wear or be killed for , can’t win 🤦🏻‍♂️😂, and I think the breitling only had an ETA movement.

The helium escape valve could have been loose when you took it into the water?!? That valve is the reason why I don’t buy Omega divers. It’s ugly and it’s another hole in the watch case. Thank you for the video! ❤️👍

The fogging happened to my watch, Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chronograph. I remember washing my hands one day and during the rinsing, I got my watch wet. Not a problem for my 600m dive watch. Later that day I saw the crystal had fogged up. Turns out the helium escape valve was open. I hadn't tightened it ever and it had worked loose and allowed water into the watch.

I'd have demanded a new watch. Omega must have re assembled the watch incorrectly for water to get in. It was also a length of time with water in it which may have damaged the movement, dial and hands. Not good. Omega quality control was terrible about 20 years ago. By the sounds of your experience nothing has improved.

It’s now back, and I’m sure you’ll agree from my latest video, the watch has been meticulously cleaned, serviced and reassembled. It still has 2 years guarantee left, so hopefully this is it now and the 10 year service will be its next trip into the shop.
