Watching this beautiful couple is making think about living on the canal I ask my hubby and he sed let’s win the lottery Lololo what a peaceful live we have the Macclesfield canal seeing canal boat
For future you may consider getting the gun for the foam, a lot more control over the speed and amount that comes out. Also you can buy foam cleaner, which is almost magical the way it dissolves the foam, whether wet or dry, it also removes the black staining.
Joe, you work so hard! I can’t imagine Danni being upset with you. Everything can be fixed or replaced. What I’m waiting for is the van! I’m so cold 🥶 and waiting for y’all to travel to places I don’t think I’ll ever be going. Fabulous work and the spray foam will also add to the insulation, lol.
Probably too late now but you can get a product called evo-stik polyurethane wood glue, which is a liquid but expands to fill a joint like foam. It comes in a tube suitable for a caulking gun or in a bottle. It expands much less than foamfix so is much more controllable.
Ah yes I know the stuff. Only thing I’d say is the cost of it vs spray foam for the size of some of the gaps I’d have to fill it would be considerable but considerably less messy for sure!
Hey guys, I was having nightmares watching you do wood work on top of that nice kitchen bench… and then I saw the grinding sparks going everywhere!!! Can I suggest a piece of ply that could be tucked away somewhere, dragged out for tools to go on. Or a piece of canvas, or… you get the idea. The jobs have got to get done, but protect the lovely work you have already done! Good progress though! Cheers
It’s probably to late now joe but if you buy a foam gun and use gunable foam you can control the flow much easier and you don’t use half as much foam. Just turn the back screw of when not in use clean out with foam cleaner rarely as that’s what makes em clog good luck
Hello Danni and Joe, brilliant ticking off all those jobs but so sorry to see the broken stained glass. I went on a stained glass course a while ago I loved it and made a purple and green panel then one day the wind blew it off the window cilll and it broke, my own stupid fault, you must have been gutted but I'm glad you can get it repaired. Best wishes Christine x
Clear Pvc cleaner takes off the expansion foam. The latex minimal expansion foam with water. Caulking rod or just wood glue . Turn the hinges around barrel on top of the ply.
What a great video Joe busy, busy as always. Floor looked so much better for all your hard work. It’s beginning to look very smart. Hope Danni is good. Have great week 😊
Hey Joe love the Rope on the floor idea someone may have already said this but a tip for expanding foam is, if you get it on something especially hard like wood, glass or plastic is not to wipe it off immediately but to let it dry I know it seems counterintuitive but then it just peels right off. Cheers
Great job on the ropes Joe. I probably can’t see any mess from the foam like you can see, so just show Danni the video and she will be very happy. Lol.
You can get a product called Ever Build Foam Eater, I used it after we had a leaking can that coated just about everything in our bathroom. It's slightly corrosive, but is brilliant.
home centers sell caulk foam backer cord in several thicknesses to put under the rope. it expands and contracts with the movement of the wood. Much cleaner and a more permanent solution. not very expensive either.
We’re here until June/July so won’t be moving as it’s ideal place to be for Danni’s work & my parents whilst we fix up the van. Was that the nasty storm we had?
Oh, Joe! Trying to hide something from Danni?! I can't believe it. A lesson learned I'm sure. Thanks for all your work and the most entertaining channel on RU-vid!
Oh Joe bless you, I felt gutted for you, 😢. So Happy the glass can be replaced, (welcome to married life lol )🙌🏽😊love the rope idea in the floor board gaps- genius , take care you two 🤗🤗
I hope you had safety glasses when using the dremel. Those little discs just shatter. No fun when they end up in your eye. Bad enough when they hit your hand 😲
Hi both, Joe you would certainly fly through any audition for DIY presenter work -online or with the shopping channels. Always solution focused !!!. Would love to know where to buy the mushroom print hanging in the kitchen....
Haha…😂can’t believe you didn’t put the broken glass photos in a private file 😐,a few more years married you’ll learn !! 😂😂😂( keep ticking off that never ending list 👍).
Got to ask, are you sealing the rope and floors now? If not I am wondering how you will keep the rope clean and stop it getting wet, when clean the floors, especially in the bathroom. Never seen rope used. Is that a boat thing? A tradie doing my timber house floors, used silicon, which was ridiculous as it falls through when the boards expand. I enjoy watching your reno.
So we’re using rope more as an aesthetic gap filler (it’s used in the boat world to build old ships as it swells when it gets wet and seals). Now the floor has shrunk to its smallest (hopefully) in the summer the gaps shouldn’t get much bigger at all and then the foam will hold it anyway. It’s hessian rope so quite hardy and hoovers really well, we use the cleaning pads/mop so doesn’t get soaking wet except for rain if the doors are open for a bit but seems to work so far.
Greetings from Tehachapi, CA Tedious work you had with rope spacers. Shame about the stain glass panels, good thing you kept the creators contact information. And you paid the bill 💵…Lol
It is indeed! Bought it in Sweden when we were away in our last van. Felt guilty using it as a hammer but it was in arms reach and I needed something urgently - dug the actual hammer out later on 😂😫
Cheers joe I bet you shat yaself when you broke that glass Danni going off her head but shit happens better now than when they are on at least the lady can sort it for you Have a top week dude staysafe both of you 🙂🔧🦆✌️
Hi! In case you could use some second hand things for the van project, here is a link to David´s film about his refurbishing of his van: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xi499Z9l_-0.html
Hi Danny Joe,well you sure try hard with the gap between the floor bored you can get a special filler for when you are cocking out side below water level on plank boats done it in the past but just cannot remember the name I used to enjoy corking to see the end result with no water leeks ,,so tell me Joe what’s it like being Married then ,it’s got to be nice to get something for nothing the ecoflow looks the business has a good reputation it’s a good way do a review and it’s yours and you are allowed to sell it if you don’t need it nice to have power on hand 🤚 ,so sorry you broke the glass on your beautiful coloured doors but accident do happen hope Danny was not to bad with you can’t see no stitches in your head lol ,you are doing a great job you try your best in what ever you are doing, yes you had better get your home in ship shape before the lovely Danny gets home ,great and interesting blog love watching you till next time take care keep yourself safe,John 🤬🤬🤫🫣🤭🫢😲👀🇬🇧🫢👍👍🍻🍻
Why sod about with old wood floor and rope? Just cover the floor with ply then get laminate flooring, save yourself a load of bother,... Not sure but that bird thing on your chimney, may cause a heck of a down draft, going by its very shape. If you get rid of that and use a normal cowling it may then draw properly. Not more smoky joe log burner,
Just love the look and feel or real floor boards, adds a nice bit of character and something to keep us busy 😂 it should be grand for a few years now without much bother. The bird cowl rotates in the wind and should help but it bloody doesn’t 😂😂
There may not be a manual for a lot of things in this world but there is always common sense which obviously you are sadly lacking, why wouldn't you just use a silicon type of sealer or No More Gaps extrude it into the gap and you have 24 hours basically to put the rope back in.
