Oh my God, did anyone notice that when Zach says "I am so mad at you right now, Chris pipes in with a helpful little comment..."germs everywhere." lol lol lol
I know in fandom that when Zach was on Heroes, many of us were saying that if they ever did a Star Trek reboot (and this was long before word had come out about it being considered), they had to hire him as Spock. He had that gravitas, yet also could display the humor.
An old buddy and I were discussing the new Star Trek franchise when out of nowhere he says, " I really like Chris Pine, but Zachary Quinto sucks." Couldn't understand his comment. I thought Quinto gave an excellent portrayal of Spock.
Quinto is on the nail when he eloquently expains the little echoes that resonate like almost at the end how Pine sits in Kirk's chair and rattles off commands to Chekov and Sulu. He does it in a very deliberate way to remind us of Kirk.
Totally agree with you there! I appreciate when interviewers allow the actors to actually discuss their craft--acting. Mr. Quinto and Mr. Pine certainly are very handsome fellows in famous roles, but they are people with a passion for what they do. A big thank you to Blunty for keeping the interview professional yet intriguing and, dare I say, fascinating :)
SO nice to see an interview that isn't quick cut and ladened with background music. Just 8+ minutes of their thoughts on the process of making this great project.
They are both gorgeous and well-spoken, but I definitely love Chris Pine more. I was not into Star Trek before the film, but I knew a little about the characters. I like how Chris kept the main traits of Kirk (humor, arrogance, decisiveness) but followed his own interpretation of the role separate from Shatner's. This movie is UNBELIEVABLE. On my Top 5 list. Plus, every time Chris came on screen, I couldn't help but smile from ear to ear. :)
At 1:30, you see his cute mug tickling his face around like a puppy about to sneeze, and then he looks around and up into the light like a cute little kid and sneezes...*sigh*...soooooooo cuuuuute! ;)
If you do not look at straight forward pictures of Quinto and start looking at sideway profiles you will really see the resemblance. The only thing that isn't Nimoy might be the very cartoonish philtrum. But finding someone to be a 100% copy would be too hard, we are glad we got someone who looks like a child of Nimoy!
Isn't it the sign of a smart series of questions when the guests can just let loose and go free-form into the "feel" of the answer -- and that's what we have here: No cheesy talking points, just great interviewing the way it's meant to be done -- thanks for the post!
Awesome interview, these are both great actors bringing their evolving their own identity and distiction of the Kirk/Spock characters to the movie. Love the Movie
People may say they look bored, but remember they were at a premiere the previous night and have been interviewing for months on end probably. They're amazing. I almost love them as much as the originals.
I think its great that Zach has such an acting range. He plays Sylar very very well, and his character with Spock is just so different - just a great actor overall.

Great interview, Blunty! The atmosphere of it made me anticipate that one of the guys would any moment say something like "hey Blunty, turn the cameras off and get the beer and the cards out!"

Okay I love Chris Pine. Its so awsome that he is that comftorable being friends with, sitting that close to, and being that touchy with a gay man. I'm so used to homophobic teenage boys that its nice to see a guy who isn't afraid of gay people. On another note, thier friendship... is so CUTE. :3
Very good interview! You asked good questions and struct the right balance of being friendly without being overly familiar. Plus you were lucky with your interviewees in that they were so comfortable with each other and the interview process. Good job.

I love Chris and Zach as much as the next person, but I really love this interviewer, Blunty. Lots of interviewers are either annoying, don't know what they're talking about, or both. This guy is really cool and funny :) Kudos!
ive been waiting for this interview, i love Zach, he does a great job as Sylar, and im not a big star trek fan but im considering watching it just to see his performance.
To me Zach always seems very self-conscious in video interviews. His eyes constantly wander off the camera and the interviewer, and he has all these little things that he does. :D I don't think he's not listening, he's always come across as very considerate person to me.
I love this interview! Not only are Chris/Zach as cute as always, but the interviewer is really good. He has an even voice, and doesn't draw too much attention while at the same time playing along.
I love to watch this interview, they´re both intelligent, I love them! Maybe could be Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with Chris and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with Zachary LOL!:)
The movie was an AMAZING tribute to the original series!! As a die hard Trekkie, I give the film & it's cast 2000% approval!! The banter between Chris & Zachary is hilarious! Loved the bored looks, sneeze, & Zach's exquisite vocabulary! May I say that on top of having stellar performance, both actors are the most dashing piece of ooo-la-la yummy-ness I have EVER laid eyes on!!! Soooo handsome! (=
