I’ve just started the bronco Jeep with paratroopers to make a diorama for the bridge over the river orne (Codenamed Horsa Bridge) that the 1st Bn Royal Ulster Rifles took . This was close by to the more famous Pegasus Bridge. I looked at the glider but it was too big for and I plan to build a part of the body of the Horsa. The box art on the bronco Jeep is actually taken from the RUR just after they landed near the village of Ranville. The villages of Ranville and Cambes en Plaine each year still hold a ceremony to remember all the allied soldiers but particularly the soldiers from all of Ireland who participated in their liberation. This year will be particularly sad as the last (known) Ulster Rifles Soldier ( he was from Belfast) who landed on DDay passed away just before Christmas. He was 96 but still traveled to Normandy each year to pay homage to his fallen mates.DV I will be there this year again to remember all the valiant personnel. Incidentally there are two memorials to the two battalions of theRoyal Ulster Rifles at these villages and Cambes en Plaine named a street after the Regiment. The RoyalUlster Rifles were the only Regiment in the British forces who landed both regular battalions on DDay. The Commanding Officer (Lt Col Harris) of the 2nd Battalion met his wife at Cambes en Plaine too! The 9th Battalion Parachute we’re commanded by an Ulster Rifles officer (Lt Col Ottawa) and the 9thBn consisted of mostly Ulster Riflemen. I know I be written a lot but I would like to share a bit of history from my Island of Ireland. For further details a great book is The Rifles are There. looks great ,my grandad was actualy on glider NO 1 with major howard,ive met the pilot jim walwark and a lot of the vets,,when im a bit better at this game I will building my own as a personal tribute to him,the glider was called "lady Irene" after my nan,,looking forward to the build
Very tasty looking kit there, it will be awesome to see what you do with it. I am looking forward to the dsf glider right now. I always wanted to do a gran sasso raid dio.

Shane Smyth - scale models I'm all about it! I know it's a heavy task, I watched and waited for it to come out for a couple of years then I seent the price tag ha ha. But totally worth it, they also have the sections you can get individually. So cool!
Ya I've wanted one since it was released too, but the price was a bit too much for me so I am lucky that Starkweather gave me the chance to build it up for him, will be checking out your Para painting video for dio ;)
Nice kit Shane. If you're going to make a diorama I'd just offer the following. As I'm sure you know most of these gliders did not fare well during the landing phase lol. If you want to keep the model in one piece you might consider a pre-flight preparation sort of theme. On the other hand, a post landing diorama with a bit of structural damage could be very cool and a challenge to build. Either way I'm looking forward to the end result. Good luck mate.
if I do a runway scene the glider will be almost two feet long, so a landing scene it must be, gonna have the tail removed and one of the wings cut down, as for damage I would love to have crush and impact damage modeled on it but I rather now risk it
too right I am gonna pick up one of Broncos Airborne Jeeps to go with too, I have a SAS jeep project lying around here somewhere too need to finish it some time
Shane Smyth - scale models I think ill stick to Tamiya kits lol. I ve a bid in on a well known auction site for a Takom King Tiger with full interior. Not sure that was a wise move on ky part because one RU-vid modeller said it took him 60 hours :-0
