One thing I was paying attention to is negative yards. Take out the penalties, and it feels like they never lost a yard. I think I saw Zach lose a couple on a read option, but I was the right read, just a blown up play. This offense about as close to the Sean Payton vision as you’re gonna get.
The league is criminally underrating this team right now. Not gonna win the Super Bowl. Heck, might not even make the playoffs. But we’re NOT gonna be as bad as everyone thinks
The one throw where Nix escaped pressure and threw a missile to Sutton on third down? Nine times out of ten Russ holds the ball for almost ten seconds and takes a dumb sack for a ten yard loss.
I think it's CTE. He has no idea what's going on. It's actually sad. He started as a freshman in both highschool and college. He started as a rookie in the NFL. He's played a lot of football.
What are you talking about. Russ went off script too much and had problems in the pocket, out of the pocket he was great. Last year was pretty good from him, any team without a signed qb would have payed 50 mil for his performance last year
@dongdoodler yeah his numbers suggest good play but that ain't the case watch the film he was horrible we had a 7th overall oline and russ still at 45 sacks about 2/3 of those sacks was due to his scrambling he fumbled alot and missed wide open guys ALOT. He's still great at checkdowns and deep ball buuuut that's it he is too easy to defend against.
Russell Wilson leaving Seattle was the worst mistake he ever made. People in Pittsburgh are questioning if he can beat Justin Fields out who is terrible, now in Denver a rookie QB making his NFL debut looks better in 2 quarter's than RW did in 2 full years in Denver. That HOF is nearly gone for Russ.
Russell Wilson’s worst mistake was playing with a torn labrum and his 2nd worst mistake was endorsing Sean Payton who didn’t want him. He’s far too nice for his own good sometimes.
@@gamester1440 Nice doesnt feed the bulldog. If he wants to win anything, he needs to show some backbone. He straight up glosses over failures when they are asked about like hes talking about nice weather when his team and the fans want to see him show some passion. He also needs to stop hanging his ol out to dry on every down. He moves around in the pocket so much that his line literally cannot block for him. It would be fine if he didnt hold the ball so long. He also needs to really train up his middle of the field reads. He straight up misses wide open recievers in the middle of the field.
Mis respetos para el Sr Mark. Siempre con comentarios basados en lo que ve y su experiencia son acertados. Esperemos lo mejor para Denver este año. Saludos
The fact that Bo Nix played well is even more impressive as it was his first live action pro game. He looked like a veteran on the field. After a few nerves to start he relaxed and played very well. He definitely should start in Seattle. I agree that sacks are a QB stat. That was the biggest problem will Russell Wilson holding the ball way too long. That places BO Nix above Russell Wilson as the ball comes out very quickly.
Thing is broncos will be competitive this year with $54 mio of dead cap. Next season they get $21 mio back, then the remaining $32 mio the season after that. That’s 3-5 impact starters. Finally, FINALLY, there is upside for the Broncos.
Exactly! NFL history is filled with qb's that were impressive during preseason, but ended up doing squat. If Nix plays well for multiple regular season games- then ok!
Its going to be up and down hes a rookie and teams will get tape on what hes bad at but what you want to see is consistency, improvement and showing he is unflappable after a pick or a bad play. Theres always the talking head jumping on the first bad thing but just watch how he handles things. What I want to see is is he just good enough like a Dak Prescott or is he a stud like a Burrow, Mahomes, or Allen
Called Nix to Denver after his interview with Colin. Dude seemed grounded and very prepared for wherever he got drafted. Payton was a great fit and I was happy to see how solid he looked.
Correct. Stidham waaaay too much money for a backup. Denver might try to renegotiate or trade him. At least grownups are running the team now. It definitely doesn’t feel and look like a clown show anymore!! 😅 Thank you Sean Payton! George Paton? Not sure 🤔?
The money isn't what bothers me. It's how much more dynamic the offense has looked, even if it was just a few series with the 3rd team from Zach. I'm on the fence about George, Sean may be saving him especially if we get another couple hits from this draft class
The "Bo Nix only throws screens!" narrative looks dumber and dumber by the day. He constantly lit up defenses at Oregon with his intermediate and deep ball throws and he's showing he can do it in the NFL as well.
As a long time Ducks fan I was ecstatic he came to Oregon, and he definitely got his development while there. He is the best QB of the draft class and although I would have loved to see him go higher I’m glad he ended up here. It’s time for him to bring the magic and outshine all the other QBs that drafted higher
@@johndailey2323 hey stat watcher, most of Bo’s drives started at or near the mid field mark. Not a lot of yardage to gain when your special teams did a great job running the ball back after a kick. He started 2/6 in passes on his first drive but then went 13/15 finishing at just over 71% completion. For reference: Penix 56.3% 104 yards Daniels 66.6% 45 yards (only 3 pass attempts) Williams 57% 95 yards Mayes 66.6% 19 yards (3 pass attempts) McCarthy 64% 188 yards. So nix was the most accurate of the 6 and scoring was better.
I've been saying lookout for our BRONCOS,If we can get average play out of a QB were going to surprise some people, and BO might just do that, you know a five game win streak last year shows we do have talent,it's not an easy feat to win 5 in a row in this league ever, and no so called expert has acknowledged that streak and it wasn't luck!GO BRONCOS!
Zach Wilson outplayed Bo Nix (higher QB rating) in the first preseason game. But it seems that Denver doesn't want to not roll with their first round pick at the end of the day. Zach will just have to find another team to play for after this season if the Broncos aren't kind enough to leave him on the practice squad so that he can be picked up by a team sooner.
Hockey Stars take a little more than a couple minutes to be ready for the pro.Leagues, plenty of hockey players take about five years before they're ready to really make an impact
All three QBs played well. Zach Wilson had the highest QB rating but Nix was right behind him. A fluke play by Samaje Perrine led to an interception that hurt Jarrett Stidham’s rating, but he played well too. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Broncos keep all three or possibly trade Wilson or Stidham before week 1 for a draft pick or two.
First five games...winnable! We can win these games. Gotta stay focused on the game, reduce the penalties, throw and run for more touchdowns and Intercept more passes along with getting more sacks.
Broncos were too desperate when they traded for Russ. We never should traded for him. We were traumatized from drafting multiple quarterbacks in a row that turned out to be duds (drafted my Elway and George Paton). Now with Sean running the show, we actually know how we want to run our offense effectively. Comparing Bo to Brees just isn't fair at all, but they are very similar in how they play. Which is why of all the rookie QB's, Bo was drafted into the best fit for how he plays
Bo Nix has said repeatedly. It does not matter what O line you have. A good QB can take a 3 step drop and let it fly and hit his guys on timing. He did it at Oregon and that is why Shedeur at CU has a hard time because he does not know how to 3 step drop and throw.
The real question for me is this. If the Denver Broncos make a trip to the playoffs, and make some noise there. Will Rob Walton double his net worth and pass Steve Ballmer as the richest owner in all of professional sports?
All of Denver and most Bronco fans have a dislike for RW. RW was a me, me, me guy more concerned about his image than playing football for the Broncos.
2022 Colin and Mark: Russell is going to work... Russ would be playing better but Hackett is a bad coach 2023: Russ is going to work because Payton is a HOF coach... Russ can't play and Payton can't fix him... Payton is going to turn it around next year 2024: Nix is going to work because Payton is an amazing coach.
2019 the Saints are gonna be fine because they have Sean Payton a HoF who’s got his guy for the future and a strong run attack. That’s all you need. 2020 Bill Belichick is a genius! He’s gonna move on from Brady and we’re gonna see who does better in the long run.
2024: Russ is told to leave town and we will pay you $39m. Steelers pick him up for free, injures himself pushing a sled, and can't beat Justin Fields in a QB battle. Turns out Jesus himself can't fix Russel Wilson.
I hear Mark's point about the o-line, but I watched every game and no WAY was 75% of the sacks on Russell Wilson. Maybe 50%. The O-line also went entire games where they couldnt allow any running back to get more than 2 yards so the o-line was definitely an issue for the broncos last year as well.
Are we suppose to believe Russ couldn’t throw a bunch of check downs?? Will Nix be able to put up Russ like stats of last year? Remember, Payton wanted Wilson out, let’s see how the play calling changes to accommodate Nix….
I don’t want to say they’ll be the Texans cuz CJ’s performance last season was a rare gem, but broncos can definitely be a challenging team and surprise others around the league. Im not saying they’ll be a playoff team, but they can make it tough on others to face.
I have my broncos at 6-7 wins realistically due to the fact of inexperience from nix in close games. Other than that it’s gonna be a fun team to watch.
