Bronze B Metal Coating Application & Patina 

Did you use the EF version of Clear Guard? That is the best for keeping those colors as they are prior to clear coat. Black shoe polish will work for recessed areas but is not a great overall protective layer.

FlymasterA Boise In that case, you might find that the places the patina was applied and then pulled off would be a duller brown color because the reaction had started. For that kind of application, use our Metal Coating C version and you can burnish it back after it dries with steel wool.

Never come off is not entirely true, everything wears over time. That being said, our wax is not like candle wax in the sense that it melts off but it wears more like the wax on your car; eventually it just isn't there and needs to be reapplied. Normally what I recommend in this case is to use the Black Wax as desired and then do a Clear Wax over the top. That way, you can maintain the clear wax coat instead of the color.

The Metal Coatings are a very durable product and should be fine outside on concrete pottery if they bond properly to the piece.

I have not tried it on PLA though from what I hear PLA is a little smooth. You may need to scuff the surface a bit or use the Prime It in conjunction with the Metal Coatings to get a good bond. I would not add more metal powder to it. If you want to highlight and use some steel wool, I would use the Metal Coating C version. That would allow you to do that!

You could but the B version of the Metal Coating isn't made for that. If you used the Metal Coating C version, then yes that is perfectly fine.

Tiffany Green works on real bronze metal but you would need to get any clear coat that is on there off to get it to work.

JERRY DAGNA It would be more beneficial to start on cleaned up cement. Otherwise, you have to rely on the previous paint keeping the adhesion. For a cement pond sculpture you should use the Prime It, Metal Coating, Ever Clear, and Metal Wax combination.

+Kim Thomas Sandblasting the glass will help create a tooth for the products to adhere to. I would also advise using the Prime It though you can do test samples to see if that is completely necessary after sandblasting.

In my opinion, it is easier to use a release agent like usual, clean it off and then coat the bronze over the resin.

This was a hydrocal (plaster) casting. Metal Coatings work on many different surfaces, some surfaces you will need the Prime It to help with adhesion.

It doesn't work as well as with the C coatings. It more just scratches the patina off rather than doing a light burnish.

Debbie Williams The Metal Coating C will patina but the great part of it is that it allows you to polish the coating. Metal Coating B does not polish as well.

Great question, it works best sprayed. Krylon usually will be OK but it isn't the most durable coating. You can usually find something like the crown sprayer: www.sculptnouveau.com/Details.cfm?ProdID=94&category=10 at a local hardware store and that would work.

+Lou Buf Yes you can but it is a good idea to seal the concrete with a concrete sealer before moving forward with the Prime It and Metal Coatings.

How about if there was paint on concrete statue?Can i Just go over the paint or do i have to strip paint off?

You could potentially (do a small test to ensure compatibility) go right over the top of the existing paint but be sure to get off any loose areas so that you have the best adhesion for the Metal Coating and Prime It as possible.

It might, I have not tried with Liver. It will with the green patinas like Light Green and Tiffany Green so I would say depending on your dilution of Liver of Sulfur I think it would.
