That saddle is not broken in yet. it will soften and shape. Get the old Proofide on it and rub that in. I would also tilt the nose down a smidge that might solve the issue, but really you need to put some long miles on the saddle to see it do it's magic.
@Adam's stuff and gear. Yeah, I definitely need to put in more miles.. I can't seem to find any proofide for it, I gotta talk to my local shop and see if they can source me some. It felt better on my way home after I adjusted myself if ya catch my drift 😅
This is why I put the B17 cut out on my bikes, except for my Kona Splice, I put a B67 on it. I have two B17 cut outs and the one B67 and all of them are top flight and comfortable.
This comment is a bit late, but did you do anything special to help speed up the break-in process? I'm looking to get a B17, but the advice on breaking in is pretty all over the place out there.@@thebikehippie6562
I had one of these and threw it away after a month of daily 20-30 mile rides. Agony. Keep using these saddles and one day when you’re diagnosed with prostate cancer think back on this commentary.
@Bruce Chastain When it was level, I found I was sliding forward on it because it's so slippery, so tilting it forward is probably not a good idea.. Riding home after, it was a little better, I just need to make sure I'm adjusted correctly if ya catch my drift✌️✌️
The pain you're describing isn't break-in pain. It sounds more like adjustment pain (or this just isn't the right saddle for you). Your testicles aren't bone ends that will push back against the leather and shape it. Your testicles will be the ones that yield to the saddle. Every saddle fitting guide I've read says to STOP if you're feeling that kind of pain. Just try getting creative with the adjustment. If you look at people's Brooks set ups, you'll see a wide variety of funky angle and set ups to accommodate lots of different bodies out there. My personal experience with a B17 after about 800 miles was that it really wasn't the right saddle for me. However, I am a big fan of the C17!
I got this info from the Brooks website, The B17 Narrow is a narrow racing saddle originally introduced in 1910. Built for mile- and half-mile events, this saddle was the choice of track riders through to the 1960s, maybe this narrow saddle isn't for long distance riding 🤔short rides I think is ok but long distance riding you should get a wider Brooks saddle I think that would be more comfortable hope this helps
Youre nose is big too high. I have 4 Brooks saddles: B17 Special, B17 Imperial, and Swift. B17 Special is usually very hard during first 10-15 minutes when you start riding then once it's warmed up, it's very comfortable. It gets super comfortable after about 20 miles of riding. I've ridden very little on B17 Imperial with cutouts and springs. I find that this is the softest saddle of the three and very comfortable. But for long rides, I prefer the B17 Special or the Swift. Both the B17 Special and Swift are really comfortable. They each have its own unique personality and I love them both. Brooks in my opinion is the most comfortable saddle for my road bikes to date as they have unique "leather give" that's also very breathable.
I would not recommend to use a B17 as std on such a drop handle bar bike. It is usually too wide. The saddle has to be tilte too much forward for painless rides and tilting too much forward means a lot of pressure on the hands. Even if the Brooks is not broken in, it should not create pain...as already mentioned here. That always means that the position is wrong. You have to play with the set up and it takes a while to find the optimum position By the way: B15 swallow or the swift would fit much better on such kind of bike.
@E aus dem Norden Thanks for your advice. This is the B 17 narrow. I just had to mess around with the saddle height. It's starting to get more comfortable now✌️
@@thebikehippie6562 Ah yes....just had seen this detail....sorry. Brooks saddles need more attention at the beginning but it is worth the effort.....Enjoy you nice bike. The nice bike (especially the color) was the reason for looking at your video.
@@thebikehippie6562 I have one arriving Saturday. I think Im going to take a rubber hammer to it. Isn't it technically the same thing as when you're loosening up a leather baseball mit?
Grace will do so much better ! And tilt the nose upward Consequently it changes the angle of the pelvicbone so releasing pressure on the testicles and 'inner penis'' as well.
@@juliapoelstra3624 That may be a good idea.. I really like mine, it's very comfortable. However, I don't like that I can't get it wet. I get nervous when it rains.
