Because of Brooks Robinson this Iowa country boy became an Orioles fan for life. This Iowa country boy is now 72 years old.

Here is another side of Mr Robinson. On a Friday night in Cleveland. Brooks step aside from warming up . He was my idol as a kid. He talked with me for 30 minutes. I will never forget this. R.I.P. Brooks.

This was a very sweet gesture on the part of the Orioles. It was a different time back in the 1960s and 1970s. It was not unusual for players like Brooks Robinson to begin and end a career with the same team. When I say I grew up with the Orioles I mean it. The lineup: Catcher: Andy Etchebarren/Elrod Hendricks Pitchers: Jim Palmer, Mike Cuellar, Dave McNally, Pat Dobson 1st Base: Boog Powell (my personal favorite Oriole) 2nd Base: Dave Johnson/Bobby Grich SS: Mark Belanger 3B: Brooks Robinson Outfielders: Frank Robinson, Paul Blair, Al Bumbry, Don Buford. These guys were familiar faces year after year. Doesn't stay the same but the memories are forever. Thanks Brooks.

My mother and I met Brooks when I was 10 Brooks was filming a Wheaties commercial and we had the honor of bringing out lunch for Brooks and the crew and he was so nice just a kind thoughtful person. That was one of the highlights of my life.

Brooks was the classiest act in baseball for 23 years. His 16 gold gloves are the most by any position player. He hit with power. AL MVP in 1964, World Series MVP in 1970, two-time World Series champion, and 18 all star game selections show his glow! Neglected is the fact that he averaged 4 triples per 162 games for 23 years. From 1960 to 1962, Brooks hit 25 triples, averaging more than 8 triples per year. For comparison, hall of fame speedster Lou Brock hit 29 triples from 1961 to 1963, his first 3 full seasons. We'll always love the memory of hall of famer Brooks Robinson. RIP

I was honored to have known Brooks Robinson. I'll always remember when I was 13 yo and he was the guest speaker at the Sacred Heart Father and Son Banquet. I met him through my Dad, Eddie McIvor, who was friends with him. He was a speaker 2xs at their banquet. I'm sure all the young boys that were there will always remember. RIP Brooks, I was blessed to have known you.

As a kid, I had a Brooks Robinson-autographed bat and a Brooks Robinson-autographed glove. Although I'm not too crazy about being old now, I'm glad that I was fortunate enough to have seen Brooks play in person. Heaven has added a true champion.

RIP, Hall of Fame Ballplaying Legend and Hall of Fame Human Being and Friend, Brooks Robinson. May God bless and comfort his Family and Friends. Brooks Robinson's beloved Orioles won the 1983 World Series - that was the same year he was inducted into Baseball's Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. I'd MUCH rather see the Orioles Win the World Series and Honor Mr. Robinson's memory the year of his passing. Seems more fitting that way, in my humble opinion.
