Brother Ali is unquestionably one of the best lyricists in hip hop. To answer your question, he's a Caucasian albino. He's also legally blind. Brother Ali pays homage to Nina Simone's song "Mississippi Goddamn" in this tune. The line "It's a show tune, but the show ain't been written for it yet" is a quote from Simone's song. When it shows Brother Ali at the end of the video, he's wearing a Nina Simone shirt.

We need to acknowledge our past and TEACH it in schools. Junk our old text books for some real information, and teach it every damn month, not just February. The number of non white inventors getting no credit for the inventions that white people were given credit to is STAGGERING.

I just found you while making a playlist to empower myself. Brother Ali gave me hope. The music world was/is filled w materialism, and catering to vices. Him, Immortal tech, and now Tom MacDonald are the only rap I bump. I want to be stirred to motivation, not placated into dazed subservience.

My understanding is that he's mixed race, but he got that albino post-racial shit going on - you can't pigeon-hole him cause he's a 'freak' to everyone, and he wears that outsider status on his sleeve. It doesn't even matter his race bro - 'cause he gonna be ostracized and outcast in any wack company he keeps. This dude earned the right to talk all of that shit, you know it ain't easy. It's been answered in the comments that yes he is albino, but this excerpt from his wiki I think is instructive as to why he is who he is: Ali is Caucasian but felt more accepted by black classmates: ""It's not like black kids didn't make fun of me, but it was different. It wasn't done in a way to exclude me. It wasn't done in a way to make me feel like not even a human being, not even a person." He could relate to them because they were also judged by their skin color.
