Hi Val! Great video! Just one note: Charli was basically one of the first, if not the first ""hyperpop"" star, way before 100 gecs. She doesn't want to be considered a hyperpop artist though. It was born with PC Music producers AG Cook or SOPHIE with very glitchy, colorful and "in your face" pop songs. A good example would be "Vroom Vroom" by Charli XCX. I guess the 100gecs really embraced that concept years later and made a whole thing out of it.
Basically what @RosiliaFacts said, but I would also recommend checking out MAYA by MIA. It's essentially THE proto-hyperpop album (hyperpop before hyperpop)
Yes and no, it’s been around from the start of pc music and the early creations of a g cook, Sophie, Danny l harle too, there was also Hannah Diamond that was together with Charli on the vroom vroom album, and it was still called hyperpop at the time, but charli was the first pop artist pretty much that came and collaborated with the hyperpop producers, while those before were born inside the niche. 100geks and so were really the 2nd wave that popularized the term, that before did go big but still in a bubble.
She definitely wasn't the first. Sophie was literally doing it in 2013 while Charli was doing pop albums like True Romance and Sucker. We didn't hear this sound from Charli until 2016 when the Vroom Vroom EP dropped.
So I is about Sophie Xeon, Charli's best friend who had passed away in 2021. Sophie is heavily known in the hyperpop community, said to have kick started the genre all the way back in 2013 with her song Bipp. She would make all of her sounds using the outdated monomachine, and did no sampling. But is often regarded as a groundbreaking music producer who was taken too soon. I'd recommend giving her album Oil of Every Pearl's Un-insides (supposed to sound like I love every person's insides) a listen!
This is one of the sweetest reactions I've ever seen! It's so nice for you and your sister to experience culture together, I hope she'll be thinking about this moment for a long time!
I like this Album, Charli is a great Artist also the Respect shown to SOPHIE on So I was beautiful. Amazing Evolution for her, i recommend checking out her other Albums too especially Charli and POP 2.
SOPHIE’s impact on charli is felt throughout this album. an incredibly talented and innovative artist and person who changed music and lives forever. PS: I would love for you to react to the girl so confusing version with lorde. it’s a masterpiece.
Her other great albums are How I'm Feeling Now, Pop 2 and Charli. Any of those would make for a good reaction. Nice to see both of you take immediately to the album.
Try Sophie she’s who the song “So I” is about and was one of the pinoneers of hyper pop music and worked for most of Charli’s works from “number one angel” to ”how I’m feeling now”
i watch a lot of reaction channels but i really like this channel, i like the aesthetic of everything, and the slider on the bottom showing where the song is. keep it up😝
Idk if you knew or that was a coincidence, but the "crashing your car into a bridge" song you're talking about was written by Charli and she did the vocals alongside Icona Pop! Maybe that's why it reminded you of that song lol
I would absolutely love to hear you listen to Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides by SOPHIE sometime (the song so I is a tribute song to SOPHIE), it's an amazing and super experimental listen. I remember exactly where I was when I found out she had passed, me and my mom were not on good terms at the time due to my drug usage but she knew how much SOPHIE's music meant to me and actually reached out to make sure I was okay when she heard of SOPHIE's passing. I was out skiing at the time and remember just absolutely bombing the next run going as fast as I could while crying and getting super fucked up later that day. SOPHIE's music actually helped me to realize that I was transgender and so for that I will always be grateful. TLDR:Brat is fucking amazing and you should check out Oil of Every Pearl's Un-Insides by SOPHIE sometime!
if you guys love this one (just started the video but cant imagine not 😂) how im feeling now is like this albums little sister, its what made me a charli fan and now brat has solidified it
