**BROTHER BEAR** Was NOT What I Expected (I Cried) 

Cool little detail you might miss: When he's a human, the movie is shown in letterbox, but when he wakes up as a bear, it transitions into wide-screen, the animals look less threatening, and the colors become more vibrant, to represent Kenai's perspective changing.

"please don't be a sad movie" oh god you don't know what you've gotten yourself into hahaha

I used to think Kenai was so mean, and then I learned he was a 15-16 year old boy, who blames himself for his big brithers death, (and seemingly lost both their parents) And now he's turned Into a bear, I'd be pretty done with everything too xD

The best part of this movie was Kenai choosing to remain a bear to look after Koda.

I was surprised when I found out that this film is not liked a lot by some people.

This is my favourite under-rated Disney movie. Glad you’re giving it the attention it deserves!

This was my all time favorite movie as a kid because of how beautiful and sad it was. I always say I don't have a favorite Disney movie but I was wrong, this is my favorite one.

Fun fact bout the film is its full of firsts. It wss the first time Joaquin Phoenix lent gis voice to an animated film [kenai] it was also the first time a film had switched aspect ratios, and the first time phill Collins wrote all the music for a film. Not just the sings but the film score too. He aslo used said socre to foreshadow events in the film.

Brother Bear was one of my absolute favorite Disney movies when I was very young, the dvd was scratched from how often I watched the movie. Same with Spirit: stallion of the cimarron (DreamWorks), my vhs was messed up from how often my parents had to rewind the tape

The spiritual part of the movie was so touching to me. By the way, another underrated movie is The Fox and the Hound! It's old but I genuinely cry like a baby when I watch it, it's really beautiful

I cannot begin to describe how much I love this movie and how much it means to me. It's so interesting to me that despite the fact that it's a Disney movie nobody has seen it. It's an underrated classic and has such a deep message about found family and how you can become a more well-rounded person when you have a new perspective. It makes me cry every time

My parents loved Phil Collins's music, so I used to be so happy when I heard his voice in Disney movies! :) Also, he actually sang the german version of "on my way"! I don't remember how much of it I understood, but I remember being so so happy! :D

Brother Bear is an all time favorite of mine! I have fond memories of watching it while I was a sick little kid

Watching this movie after my sister’s unexpected passing was brutal. Especially knowing Joaquin Phoenix, who voiced Kenai, had also lost his own brother River. It’s beautiful movie about grief, and how oftentimes we can turn to anger & bitterness because of our loss. Ultimately each brother fulfilled their totem. Sitka saves his brothers by sacrificing his own life & guides them back to each other even from beyond the grave. (The Eagle of Guidance.) You can spot Sitka multiple times throughout the movie, just keeping an eye on his brothers and attempting to lead them to each other as an eagle. Denahi narrates the story to us, passing his wisdom down to other generations and to ourselves. (The Wolf of Wisdom) And Kenai chooses love by deciding to stay with Koda as a bear and raise him (The Bear of Love.) And it’s very comforting movie, the idea the spirits of our loved ones live on in the stars and watch over us. And it’s great lesson for children about how becoming a man (or an adult in general,) is about leading with love, taking responsibility for your actions, and respecting all life around you.

The Disney underrated movies are honestly so good. Another one I can remember is treasure planet and it's awesome! But brother bear was my whole childhood, I knew all the songs back then

Might interest you that 'Brother Bear', since you brought up that particular shot of the salmon being reminiscent of 'Lilo & Stitch''s fish shot, was largely produced at Disney Animation's defunct Florida studio, where 'Lilo & Stitch' and 'Mulan' were produced. Some of the same people/team involved, etc. etc. This was their last movie, sadly, it was shut down shortly after release during Disney's initial shuttering of hand-drawn animated movie production.

Every time you call this movie old, I die a little because it came out when I was in high school.

this film traumatized me as a kid - i think it was the first super emotional movie i saw and i like blocked it out, i couldnt remember why i hated it, or what was sad but i remember i refused to even glance at it until i was like 20 when i rewatched it and sobbed all over again lolol

This is genuinely my favourite Disney movie, followed by Lilo and Stitch. This one is just visually stunning, the character development is so powerful, the message about toxic masculinity is so ahead of its time and the music is 10/10. Absolve of my favorites! I slept on it for a long time but my my high school French teacher who absolutely spoiled us had us watch it and I was completely blown away and emotionally invested the whole time. 5:38 Apparently that scene went on a little longer but Joaquin Phoenix broke down crying in the recording studio so they cut it or let it fade out because the director figured that it would be too upsetting for the children. Joaquin Phoenix had lost his older brother several years before - River Phoenix of 'My Own Private Idaho' and 'Stand By Me' fame, Joaquin and their sister Rain had gone to the Viper Room with him when he'd overdosed, he collapsed and went into seizures in front of them, the then 19 year old Joaquin had to be the one to call the ambulance because no one else did for five whole minutes though Rain I think tried to give River mouth to mouth.

Brother Bear is one of my favorite Disney movies and I love all aspects of it. All the three brothers were so good. In aspect of a kind big brother sacrificing himself for others Sitka walked so Tadashi (from Big Hero 6) could run. Also I see you're a Phil Collins fan. You probably know how he sings his songs in a bunch of other languages but here's a fun fact that I just learned too. The sad song here, No way out... He actually sang it IN JAPANESE AS WELL. Please look it up, I couldn't even believe it.

I know I watched this movie as a kid but I thought oh let's watch a Disney movie it'll be fun and holt, I was SOBBING through the entire movie so I'm glad to see it gets to others as well.
