I was 12 when Pete Duel sadly took his own life in 71. Couldn’t understand back then as he seemed so happy when he was in Alias Smith & Jones. You can still see the hurt in his brother’s face when he was talking about him. RIP Pete Duel you were much loved.
I met Geoff in the late ‘70s when I was a kid. His family had a cottage on the same lake as mine in 🇨🇦. He was a nice guy, but you could tell he was grieving the death of his brother. He told me he lost many roles in Hollywood because he wanted answers to why his brother took his life. I felt quite bad for him.
I was 9 when he passed and I cried myself to sleep for weeks asking God to bring him back and take me instead, I remember how I felt to this day. I am so like Pete, it's uncanny ie. caring too much and doubting myself and wanting to change so many things in the world especialy preservation of the environment and my love for animals. All these years later I am still plagued with depression. I totally and utterly get how he felt and his thought processes, I am so very like him. It's a very painful existence being me and I would take the same way out to end my pain but I am not brave enough so I continue to suffer and cry every day for myself and the world and I am 60 now. After all these years I still adore him and the WORLD misses him so very much. There will never be anyone like him ever again
Thank you Geoff. I know this was hard for you because as deep and hurtful Pete's loss is to us fans it has to be a thousand times worse for you and Pamela. Thank you for sharing your memories, your pain and heart with us. God bless you and your wife. ❤️❤️❤️ Pete:always in our thoughts and ❤️.
What a horrible shame and loss. I was 12 when he died and of course, like many others, I was devastated. He made his Heyes character so lovable and endearing that no one could replace him and it should not have been attempted. I'm sorry for the pain his family has endured and I hope that one day they will see him again.
Sometimes life can be so cruel. And very unexplanable. A great young who went to soon and a younger brother who lives his life as best he can. Peace to Pete and peace to Geoff. This is a testament for us all.
Such an attractive family --- all of them. Brad Pitt said in an interview (in Esquire magazine when Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood was about to be released) that he was at his grandmother's house when he learned of Pete's death -- he would have been eight -- and he went into a dark room and cried. I've read that Pete didn't think much of Alias Smith and Jones, and in my opinion he deserved better, but I also think he underestimated the admiration of countless strangers because of that series. It must have been abstract to him, something he rarely considered or anyway he discounted, but if it had been otherwise, I'd like to think he would still be among us.
Sad video to watch, especially right at this moment ( just finished watching an episode of Smith and Jones) Pete was a fine actor! Vaguely remember when he died, was only 5 yrs old at the time! I always thought they were TWINS! they looked so much alike,, now I know the truth! Sad to watch this with all the home videos and pictures!! God bless you Geoff!
I was 10 years old when Alias Smith and Jones was on and I truly think I fell in love with Peter as much as a 10 year could. But as I grew older I found that men that had the “Peter Duel look” were and I guess still are very appealing to me. I always wonder if I love dimples because Peter Duel had dimples or he so appealed to me because of his dimples…. There was a superstition that if a picture falls out of nowhere someone dies, a picture fell from the wall in our living room and I remember either I or someone said playfully “someone died”, then I learned the next day that Peter Duel died. I was devastated. It’s so funny to look back to know that I was only 10 years old to have such a crush on someone as I did him. I love watching anything with him still today. And I feel the same way as I did when I wad 10. Can’t wait to meet him in heaven.

I recorded how to steal a plane(only one day left till tomorrow)in the UK over 40 years ago on VHS when it was broadcast on British television,and have transferred to dvd now,it is a perfect recording not blurred and dark like the one on RU-vid.it was never released on dvd,I still watch the movie as it's very good movie Pete duel made.
they look a lot alike...he would be 84 if he were alive today...Pete Duel was such a handsome man, It is such a sad tale he passed away so young... where are his siblings today?? His brother was an actor, but what about his younger sister?? Is she a doctor??
Pete died in the very early morning hours of December 31, 1971. It was a Thursday night around 1:30 am (hence, the 'early morning hours' on that Friday morning, December 31).
As ever did these two brothers look a like. Both so handsome. I knew that they were related somehow. When I saw his younger brother in Chisum. I googled it. I was only 9 when Peter died. I was so shocked l had the biggest crush on him. Even as a kid I knew that he was gorgeous. I still wish things had turned out differently for him. He had so much to offer 💔💔❤️🔥❤️🔥🙏🙏🪽🪽👼👼🕊️🕊️😭😭
