Just ordered this printer for like $230. Really looking forward to finally being able to print nice color product labels. Loved my monochrome Brother printer this printer will be replacing.
i like laser printers for the fact that if you dont use it for a year it will still work like it would on day 1 but with inject printers if you dont regularly use them they will jam up and need to buy a new ink for it, not only that the amount of printers you get out of a laser printer and the cost to replace it is just 100% better
Go to device manager/printer/right click-hover run as admin and right-click/properties/edit preferences/change from document type mixed (default) to photo. Enables printer for A4 photo printing. If still have slight issue repeat process but change colour mode from monitor to printer.
That's not a laser printer. Instead of using a laser to draw the images on the drums, the bars under the top cover that fold out of the way when the cover is opened contain arrays of LEDs that draw the images on the drums.
Thanks for the video. Just curious, what are Brother product longevity policies? Do Brother keep their cartridge form factors for years or do they change them often, thus rendering some of their older devices useless because you cannot buy the cartridges anymore? Also, can you print black&white only, in case if you do not replace color cartridges when they are empty? Do Brother cartridges come separately from drums, so I don't need to replace entire drum when I need to replace the ink only? What are their openness to third party replacements? I currently have a HP PhotoSmart series printer+scanner. I print rarely but when I need it, it's usually something urgent that I need NOW. And, as you could imagine, my main complaint is that I always discover the ink has dried out. The HP cartridges for my specific model are difficult to find in my local shops (sellers grunt about my device being such an old model), and also are very expensive, if I compare to laser cartridges. My device is 8 years old, and for HP that's enough to consider the device obsolete, so they can change their cartridge form factor, so they do not fit my printer anymore. Sigh. I could go to some print service, but I live in a small town where people are nosy and I don't want to show some random shop assistant my private documents. Also, I'm handicapped and don't have a car. So, when my HP unit dies (or even sooner) I'm considering to replace it with a laser printer. But I'll look for something with an inbuilt scanner. Brother has always been a reputable printer brand; hopefully their support and attitude is friendly to customers' wallets. I've also looked at Samsung and Canon. It's not that easy to find a cheap, small laser printer+scanner. Again, HP offers a nice model M180N, but it has a dreadful notice: "Dynamic security enabled printer. Only intended to be used with cartridges using an HP original chip. Cartridges using a non-HP chip may not work, and those that work today may not work in the future." No, thanks HP, I don't support you for such a policy.
Thank you so much for the information. I wish I would have ran into your video before purchasing this brother printer. I wanted to print photos and this is more for documents. I was having a hard time printing my 4X6 photos and I did not even see an option for this size paper on my settings. I guess now it makes sense that it was not even designed for this. Again thanks for your review.
I wonder if the model Brother Hl L3210 that they sell in Brazil is the same that they sell in the whole world, because they separate the areas in the support.
I know this is an old video but I watched it before and bought one. I could not get the manual paper to feed it always says jammed. I went through Brother support and they sent another new one. I get the same thing. I just do not know what is wrong. There has not even been 10 sheets through it the regular way. and none in manual. Any help is appreciated.
Thank you so much for this very informative video. You impart your knowledge so well and have made my mind up and I will be buying it. Best wishes . Jo x
What I need to know is the long term print quality. Nearly every laser printer will put out good results. What happens to the machine after putting out thousands of printouts. What issues pop up like spots on the paper, shadow printing and other common issues with laser printers. You've done a pretty good review here, but it doesn't help much in deciding to invest several hundred into a printer only to hind out later you should have opted to buy a different brand. Are you planning to do a long term review of the machine or is it just a loaner? I own a Brother HL-3290 CDW after owning a Canon MFC laser. Not sure if I made a mistake switching to Brother or not.
@@geekanoids Thanks, that is what I was looking for, I think you need to let people know that in your reviews, whether it is new or a report on long term service, Good job!
I have a Brother HL-3270 I do not get the printer option page when printing, so I cannot change the paper type or shange the size of the photo, please can you help me
does this printer scan? I have a black and white brother laser printer that also scans and faxes... looking for a colored one though. If this one doesn't scan, which ones do? Thank you.
hello! what I'm always interested in as a graphic designer is not only the printing resolution but the quality of the raster /is it randomized /is it square? Sadly the factories never produce any type of information about it, although it would be both easy and helpful to provide a high quality scann of a portion of an image. I'd be super interested if you could provide this before I decide to buy it. Or have you heard of any place where such data could be found? Best!
This is a great question. I come from a graphic design background too. I am pretty sure it is more randomised if the printer use the postscript language. From memory I am sure this model is rounder more rasterised. I do not know of any websites that report on this.
Hi can you use any kind of lazer printer to print on light and dark fabric am using the colours red with black and red with white ive just bought one from argos but dont know if i can use it are not thanks
Almost over 6months since this broad cast...what are your review/ feedback with this printer? Still thumbs up? Also for toner what do you recommend? Is it economical price wise
Hello, i was wondering if you could answer some questions: can you print in any kind of paper (photo paper, sticker) ? And how about thickness of paper (cardstock) gsm values? On the back, is is possible to remove some panel in order to feed thicker paper that are not able to "bend" easily ? Thank you.
Great review. Thanks for making it. 5:50 All the photos, you printed, have a series of dark dots running down the page (about 1/3 in from the left, for portrait). Do you find that happens all the time? I've read a couple of complaints about similar problems, when printing photos.
@@geekanoids Good to know. Thanks heaps for replying. After watching your video, I read a heap of reviews, from the only Australian seller of this printer. I know people are much more likely to post a review about a bad experience than a good experience, but about 15 out of 20 reviews were bad. People mentioned known hardware issues and very poor colour photo printing (as you touched on). It looks like I'll have to fork out and buy a higher end commercial colour printer, if I ever want to print decent photos. My old Samsung CLP-320N did a decent job of photos, but it's 8 years old and seems to be only useful as a paper weight, now.
-Would you recommend this one for students? I'm going to college this year and it would be great if you could recommend a few printers so I could check them out. Thanks.
GREAT VIDEO! I'm In The process of Buying this printer ''as I Type'', Can You Tell Me What size standard paper should I Buy? PLEASE RESPOND ASAP Thanks!
@@geekanoids I'm In The US, I Bought this type from OfficeSupply, The customer service Rep told me this is what I Need, *>HP All-In-One Printing Paper, 96 Brightness, 22 lb, 8 1/2 x 11, White, 500 Sheets/Ream - HEW207000
There is a 3rd category of people who print. I subscribe to a few scientific magazines but not to the "print edition". I print out the pages of articles I want to study and scrutinise carefully.. ..I read the rest of the articles "on the screen". For careful study of an article about a technical and mathematical subject there is nothing to beat an actual physical paper printout. You can be studying the printout while mowing the lawn in bright sunlight.
I have the same printer and I printed the screen shot of your video and noticed that my print is darker than yours. Do you have any idea as to why my print looks different from yours?
Hi, thank you for the video. Can you talk about the memory of the printer. E.g., what is the type of memory does it use, can we upgrade it? How much can a 256MB memory print?
Sorry, I do not have this information. Most likely the best resource is the Brother UK website and/or contacting Brother support for the exact requirements.
hi I was printing normaly in my brother l3210cw but in any moment show me paper jam, i took out the toners the drum but the error keeps, how to solve it thank you
Hi - I’m late catching up with this but have a question - would this be good for crafting? Printing out pictures and graphics (not photos)? As in digital graphics?
I'm fed up with inkjets and especially Epson inkjets. So having never had a laser printer can you tell me if the printing costs are less? I'm £70 for a set of cartridges and that's a lot considering they never last long and sometimes they dry up before they are empty. So I print 98% monochrome and the occasional colour. Never need photo quality printing. What do you think of something like this for a home printer?
Yes. The specs on the manufacturer's site say it does automatic duplexing. ie. Prints on one side, then prints on the other, before going to the next piece of paper.
Hello I bought the Brother HL-L3230CDW I found the print out are very good how ever I don't know how to copy a document please can you show mw please . Manuals
Great video. I need a colour printer to print sections of OS maps has anyone used the Brother to do this? or what are your opinions about using it for this job. Thanks
