Note: I want to add that the design on the Brother PE900 (too much thread showing on the underside of the stitching) is because the upper thread was too loose, and the upper thread tension needed to be increased so it's tighter. *Thank you for watching the videos I’ve done about machine embroidery! I have PE800, and the cutting of jump stitch in itself is worth the extra dollars if I am going to get another single needle machine. I wish that they had added a larger hoops size option on PE900, which would have made me upgrade, but I think I'll just go to multi-needle machine next. I'll never stop using my PE800, though. Great comparison video, thanks.

They look the same to me. Very impressed with both. I live in #BudgetWorld so the 800 is a winner for me.

If you are not dying for the PE900 features, it's worth saving a few hundred bucks and getting the PE800 as I think the quality is comparable. Wish Brother had made the PE900 hoop size a little bigger like 6x10, that would have been a slam dunk in my opinion.

The PE900 looked nicer to me. If someone were going to do more than the very rare embroidery I would think the PE900 is worth the difference in price. Jump stitch cutting and the ability to adjust or make your own designs is a real difference that is worth the price. But honestly if someone loves embroidery and wants to do a lot of it? Save for a machine that has a bigger hoop than either of these two do. Mine will stitch out 6 x 10 and I get frustrated by that limitation occasionally.

There is not a substantial difference between the two machines so I will not upgrade. if I was going to upgrade, hoop size would be the deciding factor. Thanks very imformative.

I agree on the front. The 900 looks a little better. As far as the back, I personally, would rather have to clean the back up over the front. I have the NQ1700E , and the jump stich cut was a must have for me. I am surprised a little the tension was a little different from these machines.

I'm thinking the back of the PE900 was a bit messier because it has the jump stitch auto cut feature, while the PE800 thread on the back was *not* cut so they were still connected.

I agree, I think the PE900 appears to be a little more quiet and smooth; the front of it looks cleaner and tighter - more full - the PE800 has more gaps between stitches. If you know you are going to do machine embroidery for sure - I'd save a little longer and get the PE900 over the 800 (search for sales and ask for packages and/or any additional discounts or trade in deals).

I have the pe800 and hat cutting jump stitches. Both stitchouts look good. Interesting that there is a difference on back.

I think the satin stitches look smoother along the edges of the design of the 900. You can tell the shape is the same stitch files but there less gapping with the 900. Agree the back tension was off due to the top threat being pulled down more but surprised it didn't affect the facing stitch at all.

How much have you used the 800 compared to the 900? The more I've used my older machine than the the newer one, the older one is noiser than the newer one. They always have thwir spa care as recommended.

Hi, I purchased the pe900 and I can’t get the bobbin thread to stop appearing on top.i changed the tension over and over and still nothing. Any suggestions?

The 900 looks better to me the stitches seem “fuller.” I can see small gaps on the 800 sample and not as many with the 900.

So, since I have never did embroidery before and taught about the 900 since that’s the first one i saw in action, I have a 1. the jump stitch cutting - is that only for the brother pattern designs. 2. Have you tried other brand designs, if so, did the auto cutting work? Since I am new to this possible embroidery world, would you recommend a cheaper machine to start.

I really enjoyed the end of the video comparison of the two. But watching those two machine stitch out for that length of time and as I’m using an ear bud it wasis very annoying. Maybe you can fast forward through that.

Thanks for watching! Viewers are welcome to skip ahead if that’s more convenient. I considered speeding up the stitch out, but for people considering both of these rather expensive machines - I decided it was more helpful to show the entire process side-by-side start to end with the audio so they have the best demonstration possible if they’re not able to see the machines in person. Plus, if I increase playback speed and add music - there will inevitably be folks who complain about that. 😂

@@SewingReport I agree that it is necessary to see these running in real time in order to judge how they operate. People need to see and hear how the machines run/operate in order to make a decision on purchasing one. I wear two blue tooth hearing aids and did not find the machine noises offensive. If it bothered me I just turn down the volume. I do like the stitch out in the PE 900 but I chose the 800 for the price. Mine came with a bundle that include a nice portable pressing board and other supplies. Price makes a difference too as I have now retired and need to spend carefully in a world with bad economy. I still own my original Brother PE150 that still stitches beautifully after 20 yrs. I have old designs too that still are good to use. We copied them to a cd before the old serial port laptop died making me unable to use my card reader/writer box. Thanks for the comparison video!
