Nice demonstration on the use of the labeling machine. I wanted to know if by printing more than one label at the same time it is possible to manage the space between one label and the next thanks

If you used for sugar, tea and coffee jars etc can they be washed without removing the text please?

Having used the Brother P-Touch 1005 for 10+ years, I was bought the P-Touch cube as an upgrade. It has taken ages to find the right font to match all my previous labels. Why can't they have kept the same font as on option?! My frustration is still with the amount of wasted tape between labels. With the older style, I could print until I was told the print capacity was full. Is there any way of having the space between the labels shortened? So frustrating and a waste of tape!

Yes it is. However in both apps you can select continuous print if you elect to cut the tape later. If you are printing just one label then the tape has to advance enough for the cutter but if you are printing many labels in one sitting then turn of tape advance when you proceed to print. Select Cut Options Select “Cut with scissors” then de-select “Cut the last label”. You have to reverse this on the last label otherwise it will not advance enough to cut and some of the last label printed will be lost. There is not a way to manually advance so if you do forget the last label you will have to print a blank.

Have one but it uses up batteries very quickly......bought two cheap AC power adapter from Lazada but they do not work and do not power it up......any advice

You have to get the voltage and polarity correct. It also needs to support the power requirements of the device. Get any one of these wrong and the power pack will not work, and also it may damage the printer.

I just checked and the printer requires 9V center negative at .66 W. This is the opposite to most power adapters which are center positive. Make sure that the power adaptor you use is center negative. See the marking next to the power socket on the printer. It should match on the power supply. Also, make sure that the power adapter is rated at .66W or higher.

Any way to prevent the machine from giving you a big space at the front of every label? Seems like a waste of label, could be necessary with the design.

Sort of. If you are printing multiple labels at a time them obviously you can select the number to print which gives you a narrow margin for all but the last label. But if you are printing many different labels at a sitting then as you print the first label, once you select print for the first time de-select the option "Cut the last label". This causes the lebles to be printed without the gap needed for cutting. When printing the last label of the session re-enable this setting to provide enough room at the end of the label to cut it without loosing the end of the last label.

Yes it does. You have to use iPrint&Label from Brother. It allows more customisation but is more complicated to use.

Nice review. Not much stuff out there for this little gadget. Having difficulties finding fonts I can actually READ using the 6mm tape. Wasting A LOT of tape working it out. I bought a power adaptor as was advised the batteries get used up really quickly.

@@michellewalpole4355 I use a bold san serif and I find it is fine. I also noticed that the font is a lot smaller if you use a box so I set the outline setting to none if I want it more readable. However 6mm is a small tape and I usually use 9mm or 12 mm.

@@johnbhancock I will try that one. I know it is a small tape, but wanted to see how it would go. I also got the 3.5 but that is jst a huge waste of money as nothing will print on it so it is legible. I didn't print anything with a box. Just my own name deems the print to resize to smaller!

Probably country dependant. Mine is metric and there appears no way to change it.

the issue I see with everything being connected to iPads, phones and computers... if (and it happens regularly) they decide not to issue software updates at any point, you're left with an expensive brick. While the handheld ones are a little more clumsy to use, at least they are not software dependant and will work as a self-contained unit for a very long time.

Thank you so much for this video John. I looked into the Dymo printing cube and the app reviews were terrible so probably going for this one. Would anyone reading this happen to know if it will print QR codes?

Not QR codes as far as I know but it will print bar codes with the iPrint&Label app.

Your review was very helpful. Can you compare the quality of the 3rd party tapes you got with the Brother tapes? Which 3rd party tapes did you get (though they may all be the same)? A heads-up to Canadians: the AC adapter is included in the US but not in Canada.

No idea on the quality of the tape. I suspect it was a pretty generic tape, not permanent by any stretch. I have used it mainly for parts boxes and switch boards so not a lot of wear. I would not have thought the third party tapes would stand a lot of heavy wear, better off with a permanent tape for that. I just picked mine up on eBay. Did a search for the tape type and bought one of each that I thought I would use. I picked up a black on silver which is nice but really hard to read.

I believe that the polymer is PET for the Brother originals so I am presuming that the off brand are also PET.

The size should auto detect. If it does not then you can change it in the edit screen. Down the bottom there are the options for Colour, Length and Frame. If you scroll to the right then you see additional options, Width, Direction and Alignment.

Not sure you can really. It need to eject enough for you to cut the tape. If you buy your tapes from ebay or AliExpress you can save a lot of money on replacement tapes.
