I'm in Australia and got my SDX1000 a year ago and hadn't even switched it on. Thanks to this great video today I got it out and did my first cut, the little gift bag you showed here. I took early retirement in December 2020 so will have plenty of time to use this amazing machine. I will be binge watching your videos. Love your accent.

So happy for you to have this very cool tool, MayMay. I'm sure you'll get lots of use out of it. A few months ago, I fussy cut by hand, a piece of cardstock with lots of little images like your animal paper, & after I finished, I had serious nerve damage in my hand for months. Never again. Wish I could afford one of these. Unfortunately, I've been out of work for almost a year.

I have been a Cricuteer since the Create (their second machine) came out and was thinking seriously about the Scan n Cut because my internet is up and down all day long. Then I took the plunge and bought the Cricut Maker instead. I LOVE it...and then this new Scan n Cut was released. I am really tight fisted with money but craft tools and supplies tempt me beyond my ability to resist. To justify another large purchase I will have to win the lottery! Now I am seriously considering putting this on my wish list...again. Darn it Maymay. Why do you have to be so great at real life practical demos?

I would check the thickness of the mats. I'm guessing it doesn't know the material you are cutting, but it can gauge the thickness based on the mat, and how high the rollers go up when the material is inserted, etc. That's why it has the separate setting on the side to let it know when you are using felt or foam, because it's a thicker material and it can adjust its sensors accordingly. This is just a guess, of course, since I've never had one of those. That's just what I get from what you've shown us on the video. In short, the old mats may be slightly thicker than the new ones, and that's why they won't work right. It will throw off the sensor reading. (again, just a guess) Thank you for this amazing demo. I'm really thinking of putting this on my Christmas list now.. hehe 💗💗💗
I did it. I bought the HSN model of the DX. Just used it for the very first time, 2 days ago. Now... im looking at my stamp sets, and digging out Every "line stamp set" I have, to scan in, so I can play with in and out line cuts... I won't give up my cricut... but, i believe I'll get the embossing set, vinyl roll feeder, and the foil system. With 2 Expressions, I may just set up the foil system permanently on one expression machine. Same machine! So Excited!!! I stalked it too. Got it for $299, with additional 40$ off!! And 12x24 mat included..
Maymay has ScanNCut125i from HSN. If you have an embroidery machine, you will want the ScanNCut225 because it can read a regular PES embroidery file and can separate the parts if it is an appliqué design. Then it will cut out the individual parts so the user will not have to hand cut the fabric around the stitching line as in the past. It automatically does this. If your embroidery design is other than a Brother, simply convert the design to Brother’s PES format for this machine to read. Also, many times when you buy embroidery designs, they come in several formats, including PES. This is AWESOME!

I have the SDX125i from HSN. I truly love the machine. It does an awesome job and in the 2 weeks I've had it I've made some beautiful things. However, myself and numerous others who bought this machine are experiencing issues with the mat. It either loads into the machine crooked or not at all. Today I had to try about 10 times before the machine accepted the mat. I'm hoping Brother will come up with a solution for all of us who already have this machine and love its capabilities but not happy with the mat problems.
This reinforces my earlier observation. For my needs I still wish I had got a Scan and Cut instead of my Cricut Explore Air...which was the top of the line when I got it....although the Air 2 came out about a month after I got mine. Thanks for the unboxing and demo.
I'm not all the way thru the video yet...I am at the part where you are cutting out embellishments with boarders. Super cool idea! And even though it seems time consuming can you do a whole pack at one time on a 12x12 sheet of paper ?

The software is VERY basic. I've used Silhouette Studio (both with and without the Business Edition) and these days I use Sure Cuts A Lot 5 Pro. With SCAL you can export in FCM or SVG format, with Studio, the Business edition will export SVGs. I normally use a Silver Bullet Platinum cutter bur recently got a second hand CM600 just for the scan feature. What I notice is that the mats are very flimsy. I actually made my own mat instead, because I think the cost of a new mat is terrible for such poor quality. It would be nice to know (since this video is now quite old) how long the blade lasted.

Maymay READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Yes I do care what my machines look like, if it is possible I like for things to match. I was just reading a news story about those salons and they are stopping cleaning the feet with the fish because they are being sued.
Did you notice that the boxes both say it's a 125i, not a 125 (its on a sticker on the brown mailing box). They never mentioned that on tv, on their website, or on the receipt. According to the Brother site, the 125i can't do a lot of things that the 125 can do (do a compare). I called the HSN customer service (had to ask for a supervisor) and ended up getting an additional $50 off. $250! Yes!
Yes!!! I care about the color! I love the fiskar products but HATE the Home Depot Orange! I mean I DEtest that color in my craft room. Lol!!! I'm serious! It's a big deal! Even though I use the products (because they ARE GOOD) I use them with a chip on my shoulder. The whole time I'm thinking whose idea was it to make all of these products orange? 😱😯 I literally held off buying my big fiskar chipboard cutter for YEARS, yes years hoping they would come out with a different color! 😂😂😂😂 True! It case you didn't get the memo....I hate the orange, so yes color MATTERS!😄💕
Dianna Mangrum...Orange is a lousy color, BUT it helps to find stuff when they are lost...Hard to find green in your green lawn...so orange works. even if you don't craft in the yard. LoL

I'm in Australia just went and checked the price here $799.99. AU which is $538.37 us. $$ so expensive I'd love one but can't afford that I'll keep using my handy dandy scissors lol
marcelle baldwin there are two versions of scan n cut, coming I think the one for $799.00 is the DX innov- is SDX225 I think the one in the video is SDX125 which I would say will be cheaper .. have a look on brother Australia web site ..

I watched ur video with the stamps first sold me and this is the coolest thing ever!,next time cut the cb down like u did with the stamps and tape on the white area
You can use any program to design so long as it exports vectorized svg files. I don't use their software because it is primitive. I use Pazzles Pro software which is a derivative from Funtime. But any software works if it has the svg export. Most do. And....there are SO many free svg files on the web. I mostly use the S&C for the scanner feature and use my Pazzles Inspiration for most everything else....it is my go to workhorse. I would probably use my S&C more if they would do something about those mats.
I just don't know why everyone complains about the mats. Clean when done with a baby wipe (I use people's choice) and it is fine. If it is intricate or small tape it down. I had a pazzles and the scan n cut beats it hands down. I do miss their software though. Try just using the snc as your main machine for a while, put it thru all the paces and then see what you think. But. Most important have fun.
Gloria Olmstead I am used to mats that last...esp for the price that they charge for ONE mat. It depends on what you are cutting and the climate too. I am happy that the mats work for you. I just wish that they worked for me. What bothers me though is that people who have mats that work assume that those of us who have mats that don't work are doing something wrong...that we don't care for our products. Nothing could be further from the truth. I have since been purchasing the fabric sheets and use those for most everything. I first place fabric over the sheet before using on paper products. Also....be careful using the tape. I had taped cardstock....regular, ordinary cardstock onto the mat and as the project fed through the machine and began to cut, the cardstock shifted and dragged the tape off of the mat AND the cardstock and wrapped itself on the roller. I had to take it to our local shop to have it removed. I was afraid to scratch my scanner if I did it myself. Even they said that my matS were bad. They want me to upgrade. I am very hesitant. I am waiting on reviews. As for the Scan n cut beating the Pazzles hands down....that would be a preference issue and I would have to respectfully disagree. They both have their merits. I use the Pazzles for large projects that require lots of cutting and my S&C for small projects and esp for the scanner. Different strokes for different folks. We all have different needs and requirements. I am happy that you are happy though! :-)

Oh & I agree because the enemy is the “Principalities of the Air”.The blade can be sharpened by using the plunger & inserting it into a ball of aluminum foil. You said Cricut Design Space is free but it isn’t, it requires a subscription or pay for each image , unless u have old cartridges that haven’t been linked, whereas this will cut anything.
I read that the squares on the old mats need the 2 squares on the top left and one on the right side scanned and pasted to the mat and it will work on the dx machine
I have a scan and cut DX coming for Mothers day and I have been watching alot of videos and the only time I have ever see it not cut right is because the demonstrator touched the paper as the machine was cutting .... I think touching it causes causes tention and a pause on the blade because the paper is constantly moving .....just my thoughts !!

Finally got a scan n cut 2 a couple of months ago. I wondered when I saw the sale if a new model was in the works! With the 2, is there a way to keep it from cutting inside an intricate design, such a a flower stamp with lots of detail?
MayMay thank you for the video yesterday it just reinforced the fact that I can't wait to get mine it should be here by Friday. However, I just want to say that I know you said you didn't like the software but I find canvas easier to use than the cricut and I think it's just a learning curve and a preference. but thanks for the video it was great I was really impressed at how that cut the chipboard. Do you sell that chip board in your store? I bought a Cricut Maker just so that I could cut chipboard and wood and stuff but now I don't need it (it's for sale only use 3 times). I did a comparison with writing, the scan n cut was faster, quieter, and better than the cricut. Didn't cut much else with it as the software stinks couldn't figure out which paper to use etc., and as always cricut is way to prioritory (sp).

I just received mine. I didn’t do the test run,instead, I just stamped an image from white cardstock and it was extremely difficult to get the images off the mat. It actually peeled part of the cardstock in a few places. Solution?
Why people said that is so hard to work with it cause it doesn't bring any instructions, and I see your unpacking a lot of manuals and stuff are those instructions books?
I’m having horrible problems with this machine not taking my mat or pulling it in crooked, even with the update. It’s destroyed one mat and so far I found only one place in the country who is selling the new mats. I bought the machine mainly for the scanner so I don’t have to buy dies. This is so disappointing. Have you had any issues?
I just watched your video and did the project you did (crown box) with the blue paper that came with SDX125 and it did not cut all the way through the paper. I tried cutting out a much smaller box using the same paper and I lowered the level from 2 to 1 and it did not cut through the paper either. Has anyone else had trouble with this?
