Matthew Lawrence knew her since he was a Child actor as well. This was an Honor for both of them to act alongside her again. *She raised both on **_'Gimme a Break'_** in the 80s.* She took Joey back down Memory Lane in that scene holding his little brother.
This was the only episode that made me cry 😭 you can just feel the loving bond between Nell & Joe 🤗 I can only imagine how devastated he was when she passed away... RIP Ms. cárter
I'm so glad she got to work with all three of the Lawrence brothers before she passed! R.I.P. Nell the acting and music world wont be the same with out you! ❤❤❤❤
Tear jerker. I saw the original episode when it came out. I was a huge fan of Nell Carter since I was a kid. Me and Joey Lawrence are about the same age. So, I understood a lot of what he portrayed on the shows. Anyway, RIP Nell Carter.
Tell me why I teared up at minute 3:26 when Nell starts singing to Andy?? Poor Nell. Gone too soon.... :( Btw, Nell and Joey have great chemistry together! You can tell that have a history there. Must have been heartwarming for her to see the two little boys (Joey & Matt) who used to act with her on her show, grow up to be such fine men...both inside and out. :)
kidkanYeBLAH You are wrong....just like the people asking why didn't she know Matt as well...if you watch this show then you will know why...I'm not about to explain the whole show for you go watch it...or at least watch the first episode...this show has nothing to do with gimme a break....
She's so funny to play with Andy like that! All the adults on here had such real relationships with the kids. No one played the doofy adult like they make all the adults on today's shows. On this show, the kids and adults were treated with equal respect. Very cool.
This Touches Me EVERYYYYY Time I Watch It...Not Only Was It Great To See Joey And Nell On Tv Together Again... I'm So Glad They Got To Reunite Before She Passed On. The Love Between Them Seemed So Beyond The Screen. Beautiful ❤️💯
I love this and I’m so sad she left us so early!! It’s lovely that that they got to be together on his own show after she introduced us to The Whoa Man
This is so touching...This happened in my family. My Aunt (father sister) had to have a minor operation. She walked in the hospital that day smiling and waving, to never walkout. She died that day on the operation table. We were all surprised because it was a minor surgery. That just let's you know that real life is not like the movies. Always be expected for what life throws your way.
Yeah I like how Joe is seriously concerned about Nell and her operation at the hospital about her kidneys. Because Joe would do anything to be there for Nell and take care of her too. Because it's a honorable thing to do.
Yes indeed. She Loved her some Joey. That was her Baby. Him and Little Matt. Nell's Baby's. They worked so well together. Their parents had to be so nice to allow Nell to work with their kids as if they were hers. Beautiful genuine relationship the whole way around. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💯
this is such a touching episode, it shows that this show can be deep when it needs to be...too bad the studio couldn't see that and cancelled it! they don't have really sweet and deep shows like brotherly love or life goes on anymore.
The sad truth of it all is because of channels aimed at every type of individual age group- especially kids(Nickelodeon/Disney), good family shows are kind of non-exsistant today and families dont watch TV together anymore.
They don't make em like Nell Carter anymore. What a lost to the entertainment community. One of Broadway's finest legend. RIP Nell Carter. P.S. The last name they gave her on this show sucked by the way, 'Ms. Nell Bascomb'. Please!
"Precious Lord" always makes me cry. She was a great singer. I remember her voice sometimes kind of annoyed me as a kid (it is sort of "nasal") but I think because I was so young the sound was just out of my league back then. I loved the episodes when they would sing and Joey would tap dance...he could move! I remember an episode with Sammy Davis, Jr. (it's foggy in my memory...at least I think it was him, maybe Ben Vereen?). It was just a good show and she had such talent.
i am a big cry baby in certain scenes...this did not make me tear up....it was great to see her and joey together again after so mny years had passed and joey all grown up.....also great to see nell carter with such a huge weight loss...she went dwn n up gimme a break...something seemed off her with her but guess it just attributed to the weight loss which gives a person a total different presence....actor/comedian monique has gone through a huge weight loss also and it has totally changed her presence for me...i dnt find her funny anymore..anyway...thanks for posting...RIP nell carter...thanks for making me laugh on days when i only felt like crying!!!...GOD BLESS!!!
I bet they had a lot of fun filming this. The jazz scene they looked like they were having a lot of fun. Where is the sincerity and fun nowadays in shows? Everything is either too perverted, too boring or too sexual. I don't understand. This is why I don't watch tv, I watch Natgeo, History channel, shows that educate you because there is no good family show out there. Just reruns of the Nanny and Cosby.
