Brown County, Indiana: A lot like Gatlinburg, but much closer to home! 

Another fabulous video of the great state of Indiana. My wife and I are from Lawrence County. My wife saw The Statler Brothers, Reba, and The Oak Ridge Boys before it burned. While I was in the Navy, I flew with Charlie Pride from Chicago to Bloomington IN. He was going to "Little Nashville " Opry in Brown County.

I’ll say it again, Roger, museum grade films! I have always adored Brown County! So much that my wife and I got married at the Abe Martin Lodge! Glad to see you back here again and keep up the good work!

I grew up here, it's really awesome seeing people fall in love with my hometown. If you haven't visited, you absolutely should!

Love Brown County! My daughter, granddaughter and I have been going for years to the Chocolate Walk there sponsored by the Brown County Humane Society every year. They’re a wonderful organization. We always stay at Iris Gardens. The owners are great people! And they have a gem store where the you can mine for crystals. Thanks for the great video

I wish the Dillinger Museum was still around. It was one of my favorites to visit.

I have lived in Brown County for the majority of my life. I worked at the Bill Monroe Campground when I was 16 or so with my grandfather, W.M Bentley and went to various festivals there. I also worked at Hobnob back in '03. Spent ten years of my life behind the line making meals for the patrons. Some of the homes in Nashville are so old that they have gunholes in the walls incase of someone attacking the home.

It's such a cozy place. When people say Indiana is boring and flat, I point them towards Brown County.

My inlaws lived there in a couple of homes off the beaten path. It was nice to know the back roads when the main roads got crazy busy in the Fall. The park and the lodge were great to stay at too. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.

Brown County Resident here! Born and raised. I love my hometown. My family has been settled here since the 1850s. I work in the bookshop down in the town called Fallen Leaf Books. A lot of people say it's like visiting a small English village or make the Gatlinburg comparison. Whatever it is that keeps bringing people here, I never take for granted how lucky I am to live here. ❤

Excellent job on this travelog. I miss annual trips down to Brown County. I was planning on spending some time in Brown County this summer but I'm afraid that is not happening anytime soon. I just got diagnosed with cancer and am taking chemotherapy treatments. I enjoyed the vicarious, virtual trip to the area, though. Such videos as this lift my spirits. I will have to buy you some coffees when I feel better.

Damn Rodger Brown County seems like a wonderful place. Talking about all the places to eat for me all jacked up! 😂 You can tell you're very proud of your home state and I must say you represent it very well. Wonderful job telling the story. As always thank you for taking us on the adventure.

Cool my hometown

I can remember riding around in my grandpa's Studebaker (convertible) when the Park still had gravel roads. My Auntie C used to manage the Abe Martin Lodge for years. I could really bore you with all the stories I have about Brown Co. All my Dad's side of the family lived and still live there. But you're the storyteller so I'll leave it there. Good stuff. PS Jerry Garcia once played at Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Festival....ok, I'll stop.

Thank you for sharing! My husband took me there once but I didn't get to see that much of brown county with the shops. Hills are beautiful! He took me to lots of places around indiana and I love it more than Michigan thus so far, it's been a great experience being here.

My family went to the Brown County Inn for Mother's Day this year and had a great time shopping after. It's always funny to me how Nashville is treated as a tourist destination by people who live in surrounding counties. I know people who rent a log cabin for the weekend, and they only live 20 miles away! It's an incredibly beautiful place. Word of warning, if you want to just wander on the backroads, you WILL get lost. Lots of dead ends and roads that don't connect as you expect. Also, there are many cellphone dead spots! There are very few gas stations in the area, so make sure you have a full tank. My dad lives off of SR 135 S, outside Freetown, and I have gotten lost at least 3 times when there are detours around bridge construction. InDOT does not do a good job indicating or creating detours in the area I will happily take backroad detours anywhere but in Brown County. It is definitely not a grid like other counties try to maintain. Gorgeous place to be lost, but I do not recommend it

A unique and beautiful county... I grew up in Floyd county, Indiana... and the natural beauty of the Floyd Knobs (Big Hills to those not familiar with the term!) is hard to rival in Indiana... but Brown county does for sure.

Brown County is where my mother's family was from... My Mom's relatives are Frazier and Morrison... My great aunt,(Blanche Frazier) lived in a genuine log house just down the road from Bean Blossom and Gnawbone... Really true... Nothing is left except strip malls and motels ....Sad how things are not the same as when I was a kid....😢

I have never seen the pioneer village in action. We have also not visited in the summertime. We usually go in the winter. I wish some of the core souvenir shops were open in the winter. I'm sure a few have been but most things seem to be closed in the off season. Also, have you ever visited the Holly Shop when it's open? That is one that we hope to enjoy when visiting. I have never seen it open but again I have not visited in the right season perhaps.

The wife and I have spent quite a lot of time down in Brown County over the years either camping or staying in one of the cabins in the state park. I'm with you on Brozinni's Pizza, it is as good of pizza that you will find anywhere IMO. Also have eaten quite a few dinners at The Hob Knob. Brown County State Park is truly an amazing place, so much to see and experience. We're headed back down there in late August as we rented a cabin from Hills 'o Brown cabin rentals. Really looking forward to that!

I've been to 2 shows @ Brown County Music Center. Not a bad seat in the place. Going again in September for another.

Brown county is a great fall destination but very crowded.

I think we should re-introduce black bears. I talked with a lady from the DNR and she said that if they wanted to come back they would. She was saying that perhaps we don't have the environment for them anymore. If I'm not mistaken most of them were killed way back. Not sure if that has to do with the environment. It would have more to do with that there were no regulations back then.

3:10 did you blow that red light?

County is loaded with Bigfoot. My buddy works for one of the townships in the summer and he claims they figure there are 5 family groups in Brown county, based on the number of sightings and all the missing dogs. Pretty much, don't hike alone here and if you have annoying yappy lap dogs leave then at home, bigfoot eats them the most, mostly out of anger. Respect the local wildlife.

Looks like a nice place to visit, but no real mountains there.

Brown county state park is a neat place to visit. I hope they are doing a better job at controlling the deer. Last time I was there the deer were over populated and we’re destroying the entire ecosystem. Otherwise it’s a beautiful place to visit.
