i am 70 years old and wear my brown scapular. The cloth of the scapular helps to remind me of our Blessed Mother, to offer up each day to Our Lord, to do what Our Lady may ask of us, to offer up even little words and deeds as sacrifice for sinners and souls in purgatory. When i went to my doctor for breast cancer several years, she saw my scapular and said she hasn't seen this for a long time. hopefully, seeing mine, my doctor will begin to wear it again. I love you Blessed Mother. keep me and family safe and hopefully wearing my scapular i can get through another Cancer i have that is incurable. God bless you Father Goring.
I'm 19 and I've been wearing the brown scapular for over a year, only taking it off for showers. It reminds what my ultimate goal is and what I need to strive for day to day.
@Tipparat Duangin No, I never said that?? It's a goal that I have to work towards every day. Don't know how you came to that conclusion from my original comment.
@@MikeyJMJIt makes me laugh how these people who criticize & pick at everything Catholic related don't even do the slightest bit of homework in an effort to understand the thing that they're picking at in the first place. It actually makes them look quite silly & unintelligent...for some reason they have a major problem with God in his infinite mercy giving us in our human weakness all these graces & aids to help us stay on the right path until we hopefully get to heaven...it's Pride & Arrogance on their part, I feel so sorry for them.
@Tipparat Duangin According to you he is justified without having to do anything other than believing he's saved so what is your issue with him wearing an image of Jesus & his Mother around his neck?
@Tipparat Duangin -- don't tell Sir Klopp what not to say. In a court of law they say, "OBJECTION! Leading the witness!" All you've done is make it clear that you will reject ANYTHING Sir Klopp answers. That's dishonest discussion. It's more suited to playgrounds. Your maturity is going backwards in your trolling of Catholic RU-vid videos -- you're becoming more and more babyish with each one.
I started wearing a brown scapular during persecution at work. The scapular became my defense weapon. Since then i never stop wearing it; not even when i sleep. I won the battle and Jesus opened a door to a new job that i love and where there is respect. I encourage every believer to wear it; armor! Be blessed.
You have to be enrolled in the Brown Scapular, and once you are, you can NEVER take it off - except when you shower. You also have to follow what the Virgin said about certain conditions.
I dreamed lately one month ago that some people in front of me looking toward the sky so looked to see what they see ,it was a small cloud and inside it the Holy mother moving the people in front of me did not know what was it but I did and I started calling the Holy Mother aloud then she started to move toward me holding Baby Jesus on her left hand and holding the scapular in her right hand trying to show it to me then I woke up because my husband was trying to calm me down after he heard me calling the Holy mother aloud .first, I did not know what was that thing that the Holy mother was showing me till I searched all the pictures of our Holy mother on the internet and I found a picture of her similar to what I sow in my dream. So I ordered the scapular and I am wearing it now,but I did not talk to any priest to know better about the scapular .I was praying the rosary every day for more than one year and I was praying for my family , for peace in the world and for the purgatory souls.
@@Mary-gz1qw I will see what I can do specially that today is the first day that I learned about they are going to have a mass outside the church near us
My father’s family had a strong devotion to Our Lady of Mount Carmel as when my dad was an infant he contracted pneumonia and back in those days pneumonia was almost always a death sentence. My grandparents prayed to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and thanks be to Our Lord and Our Lady my Dad recovered.
4 Things that have made the faith come alive to me: 1) faithfulness to the brown scapular (wear all the time) 2) regularity in confessions (monthly works wonders) 3) faithfulness to rosary (daily rosary) 4) Marian consecration (esp. after Saint Louis de Montfort)
Some sins that were always hard for me to overcome were speedily dealt with after recourse to Mary through the rosary and scapular. She will help us avoid sins and will help us grow in virtue. This doesn't mean we get lazy. We still have to remain circumspect, but do not underestimate her desire to help us. Do everything through her.
@@wesleysimelane3423 Except Jesus as the son of Mary honored her in perfect fulfillment of the fifth commandment, and therefore honoring Mary is a deep imitation of Christ. On the cross, Christ gave us Mary through John, saying “behold thy mother”. Through honoring her, we are also obeying Christ. Through her, we get closer to Him.
@@miguellorenzosingian1562 Christ was not giving Mary to humans. He was giving her to His discipline. catholics have blown this verse out of prorpotion like you always do. The angels greeting to her has been turned into a long tedious and useless blasphemous prayer to her. We are to "draw near to God through him (Christ Jesus)". The unbiblical Roman Catholic practice of praying to Mary and the "Saints" has exactly the opposite effect. It distances us from God instead of drawing us near to him in Christ Jesus. The 5th commandment does not point us to Mary but to honor our earthly parents.
@@wesleysimelane3423 If he only gave Mary to John then he only gave the authority of priesthood to his original disciples. He founded His Church through the disciples and we have inherited everything from them. It is clear that we are called to imitate Christ (eg 1 Cor. 11:1). If you do not honor Mary as as Christ honored her, then you ignore Christ’s human nature. King Solomon honored his mother, crowning her queen mother, thus calling all of Israel to honor her with him. It is inconceivable that Christ didn’t do the same for his mother (who He *always* honors perfectly; again, fifth commandment), crowning her queen of heaven and calling all men to honor her. Mary always points us to Christ as she did in John 2:5. For the same reason, we honor his friends, the saints. Heaven isn’t empty. Heaven is brimming with souls praying for us desiring us to be closer to God.
We went through my grandmother's belongings recently after she passed away and I found a scapular and put it on. I felt an instant difference come over me the moment I put it on. I'm keeping it on always.
@Valarie Parker That's not true. You MUST be enrolled by a priest to obtain the promises. Get your facts straight! The Holy Virgin stated the conditions for wearing it!
I can personally attest that wearing the brown scapular and practicing Carmelite spirituality DEFINITELY provides graces. Our Lady is so kind and gentle. She does not give you too much to bear at once, but gently leads you as if you are wading into a pool, first ankle deep, then knee deep and further and further until you are submerged in Christ's love. It's amazing. Can't recommend it enough
@@lm1275Mary was not sinless and wasn't taken into heaven body and soul. Only Jesus son was. Mary is hardly mentioned in scripture. An important fact like that would have been mentioned. I regard scripture as my highest authority and it is not there. Please prove it from the Bible.
I wear my scapular proudly and humbly. It reminds me i am in the army of Our Bleesed Mother and I can not dishonor Our Loving Lord. I pray others see Christ not me so I can not harm His reputation in anyway .It reminds me when i sin or fail to repent immediately so not cause more harm. Thank you Father.
@Tipparat Duangin Well if that's the case she has nothing to worry about then so what's your point??? And explain where pagan idolatry comes into this? You clearly don't know the difference between worship & honor.
@Tipparat Duangin Here's the definition for you..Worship is the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity and here's the definition for Honor...high respect; great esteem..Big difference!!! We DON'T WORSHIP Mary or the saints...either way do you really think Jesus is ok with you people dissing his Mother? One is saved by believing & doing EVERYTHING Jesus says in the Gospels...We pray to Mary (who brought God into this world) & the saints (who lived good & holy lives) for assistance in our daily struggles who in turn intercede for us to God just as I'm sure you ask your friends on earth to pray for you in your needs. Do you really think those who go before us to Heaven just forget about us poor sinners on earth??
@Tipparat Duangin Sorry you feel that way..so you think you just get to Heaven because you believe with no effort on your part? Hate to tell you this but the Devil also believes in God's existence & knows all about the sacrifice of Jesus but I somehow doubt he will ever get to Heaven...didn't the Apostles pray for the faithful while they were still on earth? So why would they stop when they got to Heaven? Don't you pray for your family and loved ones? Will you no longer pray for them if & when you get to Heaven?
@Tipparat Duangin Like I said even the Devil knows that...I will pray that one day you will understand the truth of the Gospels instead of the out of context quotes you use. Jesus himself established the Catholic church & all our Popes (good or bad) can be traced right back to Saint Peter..he also established the Sacrament of confession & what a merciful gift to sinful mankind that was..The Sacrifice of the Mass that's offered up every day countless times around the world is exactly the same sacrifice that Jesus Christ offered on the Cross at Calvary...Heaven & earth are joined during each mass & the angels are present adoring & glorifying God along with the faithful...The Catholic church is the mystical body of Christ made up of Christ as it's head and the saints in heaven, the faithful on earth & the suffering souls in Purgatory as it's body & we are fed by the Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity of Jesus in the Eucharist at holy communion..You miss out on so much.
@Tipparat Duangin The Church, Confession & the Sacrifice of the Mass was instituted by Jesus in the Gospels, if you knew your bible you would surely know that....Mass is the sacrifice of Jesus!!
I gave my boyfriend, eventually husband, a scapular before he left for Desert Storm to protect him. My mon got it for me, as only a Catholic mom can on short notice. He was a non practicing protestant, and said he didn't have faith in that sort of thing. I told him it was ok, I HAD enough faith for him. He never took it off. When he returned, he placed it in his wallet. When he took it out to look at it, it disintegrated. It had lasted just long enough, in that harsh desert war, to get him home. THAT made an impression. He showed me the peices left over. Flakes.
My father (he's 80 now) told me as children they were enrolled in the 5-scapulars (red, green, brown, not sure the other colors). I was enrolled by a saintly diocesan priest (those are rare now) back my first year in University. Let's just say that until about 10 yrs ago I was not in a good state of Grace. However today I am trying fervently to live the Catholic Sacramental life including the wearing of the brown scapular again. I attribute this wholly (in no part on my own) to that priest enrolling me in the scapular as a teen; and Our Blessed Mother holding true to that promise. I am trying now to convince my children to do the same and anyone I can encourage. It is a real shame that except for that priest in our diocese (that was in 1985); I have not heard or seen the devotion preached on, encouraged, nor mentioned since then.
My Father wore a Brown Scapular ALL his Life ! My Father is My Teacher / Protector / Provider and Father to Me, My Brothers and My Mother. My Father is My Hero !
There was a time when people were enrolled at their first communion. So, depending on how old you are, if you were raised Catholic, you may already be enrolled and not even know it. If you're enrolled, you may acquire a brown scapular and just simply start wearing it, without it having to be blessed by a priest, since it's the prayers at the time of enrollment that are efficacious, indelible and binding. You may always go through enrollment again if you're unsure if you were enrolled as a child.
Thankyou.Fr. Mark, .I am a convert some 20 Yrs ago. I've worn the brown scapular.before.my.Easter confirmation and since, I believe Our Lady has protected me all this time.
I need to get one. Some how I list my, moving. My wife and kids have it. I'm so blessed, wife and 4 kids are very deep into our faith! I'm 70, and never for a second thought about abandoned my chirch. It bug hell of me when I see catholics doing it, because priest wrongdoing, or just because the teachings are too tough! Thank you Fr Mark. I wear my Brown Scapular. And it is so true we need all the help we can get from heaven for these wicked times we live in. God bless.
I was enrolled shortly after converting. When the priest placed the scapular on me I felt as though a part of me that had been missing my whole life had been restored to me. The promise is true because when you commit yourself to the Holy Virgin she will whip you into shape!
Great explanation. The Spanish mystics Saint John and Saint Teresa of Avila are wonderful inspirations in my life... models for living in a way that honors God and elevates us in our ways.
Thank you Father Mark, I wear the Brown Scapular everywhere. I was shooting free throws at a gym & made 107 consecutive free throw. The Scapular gives me confidence & hope.
Thank you Father Mark! I wear the brown scapular daily and pray my rosary, as well as distribute Brown scapulars and rosaries to those who need them. I really love the way that you break this down in this video. Thank you so very much for the time that you take to post these wonderful videos. J.M.J. Viva Cristo Rey!!
hi Father, my family originates from Pembroke, and I'm happy to have you as an alley in this battle. However, the Church finds itself in a dire situation, one which is diabolical, and under pressure to conform to the world. I'm grateful to you, Fr. Goring, for your corsage, but at the same time discouraged by the traitors to the Catholic Faith who repeatedly deny, and contradict the constant and faithful teachings of the Church. It is said, that our current Pontiff allows sexual predators to manifest great power in the church, to cover up, and to harm the most vulnerable of our society. I have a friend who was abused by her grandfather, from age 5 to 11. and know what this does to a person, but the Church seems oblivious to the harm. really sad, very sad.
I have always worn one with pride and out of habit. Thank you so much for making it a lot clearer (to me) on why I'm wearing it. God and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel bless you Father 🙏🙏
Years ago, I used to wear the scapular when I was newly converted and on fire for my faith. These days, I will admit I have become a bit lukewarm spiritually. I woke up in the middle of night last week with a great conviction to put it on. We have been praying the rosary more often as a family lately and I think Our Lady spoke to my heart. Now I really wanna know all about it and have not taken it off since!
Thank you for clarifying this for us, Father Mark. The profound meaning (to us and to others) of a 'consecrated life', supported by our efforts to follow holy virtues as the ones you mentioned: chastity, purity, humility and so on. And having the support of heaven, when doing this, how much better can this get!
gcdiver but many don’t even know or care. I’ve asked apt of priest and some don’t even know or told me I don’t need anything special but to just wear it. So I went out of my way and drove 3 towns over and found a priest that did an enrollment for me and friends.
Thank you Fr. Mark Goring for your great videos, including especially this one! Welcome back! I added the brown scapular to the miraculous medal, cross and a small scapular medal after reading "Sign of Her Heart," by John Haffert in 2015. Totally agree with you!!
My priest gave me a dispensation to pray the rosary instead of fasting from meat. Now it is even more special to fast because I know that I don’t have to. God bless our priests
We had a wonderful pastor who enrolled all the parishioners in the brown scapular each year. Mother cost of the scapular was nominal, only $1.00. I wish more priests did this. Thanks for this video. An added feature is its good for evangelization as many non Catholics are curious about it.
I too faithfully wear the brown scapular and had a priest enroll me several months ago. I can attest to the truth of the spiritual benefits you mentioned. It's a wonderful sacramental I'm happy to wear, never removing it during my showers or anything else. In only a few months, it has aided me in my quest to become a more devout Christian. I don't understand why any Catholic would refuse to wear the brown scapular. It is a blessing to have!
