As the proud owner of this FINE piece...truly an understatement, I can tell you that it shoots as well as it looks: superb point ability; quick target acquisition; absolute tack driver with minimal muzzle flip that allows for very quick and spot on follow-up shots, even with Critical Duty 147 gr loads. The trigger is as good, if not slightly better than my old 1911 Pachmayr Combat Special. That is saying a lot considering the horrific triggers on out of the box HPs. This is absolutely my ultimate combat carry weapon. The wait time was over a year, but certainly well worth it considering that I have something that I can completely rely on, given the proper care and maintenance. The only change made from what you see in the video is that I reverted back to the original Mark III factory ambi safety setup as it's lower profile than the C&S paddle configuration and quicker to access under stress situations. The customizing was over the cost figures alluded to below, but the gunsmith was the best custom maker I've ever encountered, and I've encountered many in my time. He did a lot of extra tweaking to get it to my absolute liking. Yes, costly, but it boils down to one's perception of what one's life is worth.
Beautifully customized BHP!! Wondering whether the safety now distinctively locks and unlocks (effective detent present)? Is this the hammer that folds forward to "appear" undocked so you can carry a bullet in the chamber?
Did you have any issues or worries about checkering the front strap? Most custom Hi Power's you see are stippled because the metal on the front strap is too thin. A lot of gunsmiths wont even attempt to checker the grip frame of a Hi Power. Very curious how you did it. Thanks
+Steven Straley I know, I didn't want to, and told the customer of the risk. They said to go for it so I did. You only get one shot, it is very thin. Most 1911s are 3X as thick.
will that extended slide release work on a 1911 or are the parts not interchangeable? Also please excuse any dumb questions I'm still learning about 1911 and I'm saving up to have one custom made at some point in the future so I'm spending the time till then researching parts and coming up with ideas for anything that I want done to it.
I have a Practical I bought used. How much would it cost to have it refinished to look like the original finish, have that trigger work, and have that hammer done?
SinCityReview BHC SOLUTIONS Its absolutely beautiful. Too rich for my blood. I might be willing to swing about a quarter of that. I've been wanting a HI Power for a while now. Just haven't found the right price yet.
